Children who are spanked or given some form of physicial punishment by their parents may be more likely to have sexual problems as adults, a new study finds.
An analysis of four studies by Murray Straus, co-director of the Family Research Laboratory at the University of New Hampshire-Durham, found that children who suffer physical punishment in the form of spanking, hitting or slapping are more likely to engage in risky sexual behavior as adults, it is reported by USA Today.
The study, presented Thursday to the American Psychological Association, suggests that spanked children also are more likely to be "physically or verbally coercing" to a sexual partner and engage in masochistic sex, including arousal by spanking, later in life.

I was spanked by my hot, late 20ish history teacher when I was 13 and I had it bad for her after that.
To: nmh
So that means that all of us, plus our parents and our grandparents may have had sexual problems? Wow, this is really stretching it!

“Sexual Problems Later in Life”
Liberal definition: rejection of alternative lifestyles, monogamous heterosexual tendencies, failure to accept abortion as a birth control option, filled with disgust at presence of flamingly obnoxious fruitcakes who push their abhorrent sexuality in the faces of everyone.
Yep.

It can, if the spanking is administered for what the parent fears is some sort of sexual deviation. Administered for the wrong reasons. I have seen this happen. There is some basis for this.
But spankings in general are not damaging, and in fact can aid in teaching behavior.
IMHO....

LOL! If spanking were illegal when I was growing up my parents STILL wouldn't be eligible for parole yet. I look around at some of the kids today and wonder what would have happened if I acted like that, but the thought is too painful to even contemplate.
If I talked to my parents the way some of these kids did the dentist bills would be a lot cheaper that's for sure, I wouldn't have had any teeth left to clean.

More nonsense from the left who are ALWAYS preoccupied with sex and against conservative forms of punishment. This is utter nonsense. If you spank you child out of a motive of love you help them. On the other hand, if a child is "spanked" as some manner of ongoing abuse, then yeah, that child may become screwed up.

In his famous autobiography,
Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778) described how an incident of being spanked as a youth severely distorted his sex life. Some factors that may have contributed to this were that the person spanking him was an attractive woman, and it was at a time when he was just reaching puberty.

No kidding...when I was growing up my mom and I had a regular meeting ever day at 5:00PM...I’d show up in whatever room she happened to be in at the time, turn around and get whacked...”That’s for whatever you did today that you shouldn’t have!” Well, no not really —but not far from the truth ever —no sparing the rod at our house.

Liberals have come up with these “studies” before to later be debunked. Liberals are tenacious. Conservatives like to “compromise” and gradually go left - like the GOP.

I often think that liberal do-gooders didn't get spanked enough when they were kids. They're the ones who wind up being control freaks and sexual deviants. Not that there's anything wrong with a little fun between consenting adults, as most of us can be trusted to draw sensible distinctions in our behavior.

It may be a case of correlation, not causation. Children who engage in risky behaviors are more likely to be spanked. They grow up into adults who engage in risky behavior. More nonsense from the idiots who think they are scientists.

The last time I spanked my oldest, she was 8 years old and deserved it mightily. She is now 18 and quite well adjusted to life and capable of supporting herself.
Her little sis was 5 at the time of the spanking and watched the whole thing.
For some reason she never did anything (that I found out about) to get on my spankin’ radar. Probably has a lot to do with learning by example.
