Blacks are totally BRAINWASHED to be Democrats. You tell them the Democrats USE them and LAUGH at them, and they look at you blankly.
To: Clemenza
Maybe not. You get nailed by white men, you won’t win much of anything.
To: jveritas
This just seems like another attempt to stir up concerns about racism.

I call this the "Joe Six Pack vs. Darnell 40 oz." factor. Obama does well in areas where either the black population is small, or where it is close to a majority of the Democratic electorate. Where he fails is in areas (New Jersey, New York, possibly Ohio) where there is a large enough black population to cause "tensions" with whites, particularly blue collar white male democrats.
The Joe Six Packs in the NE and Midwest Rust Belt may have pulled the lever for Clinton, Gore, and Kerry, but they are not going to do so for Barry O, for the wrong reasons in many cases.

People don’t tell posters that they won’t vote for a black, they just go in and do it. Tom Bradley was favored to be the Governor of California in a landslide, according to the polls, but he narrowly lost to Deukmajian the first time. The 2nd time, Duke beat him in a MONUMENTAL landslide.

I now live in the Garden State, and paid close attention to where Obama did well and where he failed. He won counties in North and Central Jersey where Dem voters were either 1. disproportionately black or 2. disproportionately well educated (latte crats). Among the latter, it should be pointed out that Hillary still beat Obama among Jewish voters. Where Hillary picked up her margins of victory were in the heavily white and blue collar suburban counties facing Philadelphia (Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Salem), as well as in the white, proletarian districts of Middlesex and Passaic counties elsewhere in the state.
Even though Barack won my county with 52% of the vote, it is telling that he lost Hamilton and Ewing to Hillary. If you know anything about those two towns, you will know why.

Along ths same lines, yesterday on a FOXNEWS show, it was said that the white male swing vote could go for Obama. I think both Hillary and Obama are really bad news but I think he is more dangerous because so little has come out about him. I hope MCCain has a staff that is doing some serious digging on him.

This brings up one of my favorite subjects. Sorry I'm so late to the thread.
The elephant in the room (more properly, the donkey in the room) is the "Reagan Democrats".
THAT'S what made the 49 state landslide.
It is POSSIBLE that RR would have been elected sitting on the "three legged stool" (socons, fiscons, and neocons), but it was his huge crossover vote that was the rocket fuel which powered his victories.
There is no group in the population which is more alienated from the modern conservative movement than "Reagan Democrats". They LOATHE Dobsonites and Schaivo savers.
A candidate who cannot figure out why this is and what to do about it cannot win a national election against Obama.
McCain may be the man. We'll see.

Obama will have a VERY rough time getting Jews AND Hispanics to vote for him. For many reasons.

No it won’t. Most white men would cut off their arms before they would let a black have control over them. Many white women feel the same way.

My Black friend thinks McCain will win.
To: societygirl
Correct. Hillary won heavily Hispanic Hudson County and the majority-Hispanic precincts in Passaic and Essex counties as well.

They LOATHE Dobsonites and Schaivo savers. As do I, but the so-called Reagan Dems also loathe Friedmanites/Hayekians as well. Try getting a member of the building trades union in Philly or NYC to agree to "open bidding" of contracts.
Also remember that in those blue collar burgs where Reagan won in 1980 and 1984, turnout was low relative to other years. Nixon only won said areas in 1972 due to the "bussing" crisis that was an obsession among proletarian whites back then.

Wait until the debates. McNutty will windup looking like Captain Queeg on crank, while Obama plays rational and cool. Women voters will flee McCain like a house on fire.
To: jveritas
I know lots of democrats who will probably stay home or vote for McCain if Obama is the nominee.
First of all, McCain is sort of apealling to them (after all, he’s almost one of them). Second, as many posters have noted, there is a great deal of racism amongst democrats, especially older democrats.
Note to self: buy Orville Redenbocker stock...there’s going to be a lot of popcorn sold in the next 8 months.

I hear you. Although if this is a Daddy election, and it might be, there’s only one daddy in this race. And it isn’t the cool daddy, its the real daddy.
