"Kind of disappointing that it took 3 posts before someone called this article into question."

LOL!

Amazing how someone just using Internet Explorer can match years of lab work and shot it down!

I bet their great grandfathers were blacksmiths.

Comments?

Carbon dioxide is not "climate-ruining", as this absurd excuse for a "journalist" wrote. It is one of many essential gasses. And humans are a insignificant factor in the epochal cycle of climate change.

Biofuel alternatives to oil are third-generation. The next step is life forms that feed on CO2 and give off fuel such as methane gas as waste, according to Venter.

So the critters Eat CO2 which is a weak greenhouse gas and create CH4 with is a strong Greenhouse gas?

It’d be hilarious to see the liberals have to call for INCREASED Co2 production for fuel purposes. Maybe we can hook a pipe up to Gore’s house...that things’s a beast.

Nope. If it works, there will be something wrong with it. The greenies goal is not reduced CO2. It is power and the ability to make people live as the greenies think they ought to live.

I’m in favor - I can see, chemically, how it can happen - just add water and the bacteria’s chemical process. After all, methane is just comprised of carbon and hydrogen.

Articles like this make my want to switch over to the biosciences before going onto nanotechnology.

So this madman thinks that God has given him the "keys of life?" - It's amazing how loosely the word 'create' is used by these self-agrandizing dreamers.

The limiting part of the equation isn't designing an organism, it's the difficulty of extracting high concentrations of CO2 from the air to feed the organisms, the scientist said in answer to a question from Page.

How can that be? Haven't we turned 99% of the atmosphere into C02?

Al? Al?

Why not go to where the concentrations of CO2 are high? Say the stack of a fossil fuel power plant? You've already got CO2 concentrated to ~14%. And that would be a wonderful perpetual motion machine, too. Coal in the front door and octane out the back door.

Fear not!

When you find yourself in a tight town like Monterey, there is always a solution. In this case, a short drive to the northeast, to the little town of Marina, where the candy flows freely.

"We are a ways away from designing people. Our goal is just to make sure they survive long enough to do that."

Yikes! Who's "they?" I can't figure out what this statement means.... I can't tell whether this is the statement of a madman, or whether this guy is just seriously muddle-headed.
