CAIRO, Egypt Al Qaeda's No. 2 leader wrote a book published Sunday on militant Islamic Web sites in which he slams radical militants who have disavowed armed struggle and turned their backs on violence.
The 215-page book by Aymen Al Zawahiri is the latest salvo in an intellectual war between the founders of the terror group and the other Islamic militants, many of whom have become disillusioned with homicide bombings and attacks on civilians.
"This message that I present to the reader today is the most difficult, if not the hardest I have written in my life," al-Zawahri wrote in the introduction to "Exonerations," published by al-Sahab, Al Qaeda's media wing.
In it, al-Zawahri rejects a series of "revisions" published by prominent jailed Islamist thinkers that renounce violence.
"It serves the interests of the Crusader-Zionist alliance with the Arab leaders to drug the mujahideen and drag them away from the confrontation," he writes.
The most recent renunciation came in 2007 from Sayed Imam, once a top leader in Egypt's Islamic Jihad group and an associate of Al Zawahiri.

Dr. Evil...
Zawahiri’s not long for this world, perhaps even already dead...so his book isn’t going to be the last word on the subject.
Even so, it’s worth noting that he chose to write a book instead of becoming a suicide bomber.
So much for rejecting jihad...
Is there such a thing as an “Islamic militant who condemned violence”?
The title proves beyond dispute that Islam is a religion of peace. /sarcasm label for those in doubt.
Needs a new editor.
So when do the NYT excerpts start?
I’m starting to think he was killed last week in Pakistan and the Propagandist are trying to Martyr him for “great works”.
Are the Arafats going to suicide bomb anyone on their next shopping trip to Paris?
Does this bomb make me look fat? The caterwaul “music” just adds atmosphere to the video.

OPINION:
That is not unique, though.
So many of the old guys (and now some women of various ages) sit in chat rooms, various forums and are on web sites extolling the virtues of jihad, martyrdom, paradise, other garbage, etc.
It is noteworthy that they are still alive and it’s mostly the young men (and women) who are doing the jihadi acts and blowing themselves up.
They’ve got training camps for five year olds where they have them smilingly pulling the cord on fake plastic bombs. They get them to do it by making it an unreal game. Sort of like in the Dain Curse where the aunt makes a play of having the little five year old girl pull the trigger on an unloaded gun while she’s pretending to sleep. Then she loads the gun, brings her into her mother’s room while she’s sleeping, and tells her to play the game with her mother. Only here they also teach the kids to hate those whom they’re intended to kill.
Interesting that they made this announcement today, after we blew him up a few days ago.
that is one sick culture.
And they wonder why we do nothing if they are refused service in a bakery down in Texas?
Except to our child-President: Hussein B.O. He wants to do sleepovers in the White House w/ assorted Islamic nutjobs. They're SO peaceful, Barry will prove it by forcing us to convert to Islam.
And here you people thought Barry was a lightweight...
/sarc.
This could be some effort to reassure that he wasn’t taken out by a predator last week. What better way than to release his manifesto. If Zawahiri and the American have been taken out then things are really getting interesting.
Well, at least he has a firm grasp of the obvious. If you condemn violence, then by definition, you’re not a militant.
sad news - evidently the skunk is still alive
my middle name isn't hope for nothing
