Hillary Supporters Attack McCain On His Military Experience
Flopping Aces ^ | March 03, 2008 | Staff

Incredible…..incredibly stupid that is:

Feminist icon Gloria Steinem took to the stump on Hillary Clinton’s behalf here last night and quickly proved that she has lost none of her taste for provocation.

** snip **

“Suppose John McCain had been Joan McCain and Joan McCain had got captured, shot down and been a POW for eight years. [The media would ask], ‘What did you do wrong to get captured? What terrible things did you do while you were there as a captive for eight years?’” Steinem said, to laughter from the audience.

McCain was, in fact, a prisoner of war for around five-and-a-half years, during which time he was tortured repeatedly. Referring to his time in captivity, Steinem said with bewilderment, “I mean, hello? This is supposed to be a qualification to be president? I don’t think so.”

Disregarding the disgusting nature of her attack on his experience as a POW lets look at her argument. That being the fact that someone’s military experience is not a qualification to be Commander in Chief.

Fair enough.

But being the wife of a President does give someone qualification? Is she for real? Hillary’s experience as First Lady and her few years in the senate do NOT make her more qualified then someone with military combat experience AND 24 years in the Senate.

Really no reason to bring up Obama since he has no qualifications to be President anyway, other then the one bill he was able to get passed.

Then we have Wesley Clark saying McCain doesn’t have the “right” kind of experience:

In the national security business, the question is, do you have — when you have served in uniform, do you really have the relevant experience for making the decisions at the top that have to be made? Everybody admires John McCain’s service as a fighter pilot, his courage as a prisoner of war. There’s no issue there. He’s a great man and an honorable man. But having served as a fighter pilot — and I know my experience as a company commander in Vietnam — that doesn’t prepare you to be commander-in-chief in terms of dealing with the national strategic issues that are involved. It may give you a feeling for what the troops are going through in the process, but it doesn’t give you the experience first hand of the national strategic issues.

If you look at what Hillary Clinton has done during her time as the First Lady of the United States, her travel to 80 countries, her representing the U.S. abroad, plus her years in the Senate, I think she’s the most experienced and capable person in the race, not only for representing am abroad, but for dealing with the tough issues of national security.

You can’t make this stuff up. McCain responded:

Wes Clark should be ashamed of himself. John McCain’s 24 years in the US Senate, serving as Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, and leadership on every major national security issue over the last two decades has prepared him to lead as commander in chief from day one.

If this is how they are going to go about attacking McCain then Hillary’s minions really aren’t that smart after all.

hilllereee was the wife of old willie clintin plain and simple. So she is in the senate. So is Barack Obama. She has no more experience in foreign policy than he does. She has no more experience in ANY of that than he does or does anyone else.

just because she was the wife of old willie clintin doesn’t automatically make her “qualified.” If that be the case Laura Bush (while I admire her greatly) would be “qualified” as well and...would be a more gracious, strong, kind and likeable candidate too I might add) but...I digress.

hillleree CANNOT WIN. She is NOT presidential fodder. Never has been. Never will be. She is OVER.

If you look at what Hillary Clinton has done during her time as the First Lady of the United States, her travel to 80 countries,

Ok, so actual military service shouldn't count but organizing fund raising coffees and traveling as 1st lady should? 6 years in the Senate qualifies Hilly but 25 years in DC doesn't count for McCain? Wes Clarke is a total moron. This is the most insanely stupid, ignorant defense of Hillary I have ever heard.

I take exception to Hillary being called First Lady. From what I have read people in the White House were not to look at her and she treated the staff, military, and secret service like trash. First something else comes to mind.

I honestly can’t believe that Weasley Clark and Gloria Steinem’s attacks will do anything but HELP McCain. So, keep it up, losers. No one will remember you when Hillary! goes down in flames.

She and others should be encouraged to attack McCain on this - it will excite a few hard-core leftists, but the rest of America will be so turned off and unbelieving, it will bring McCain more support.

Her travel to 80 countries must be their new talking point. Dianne Feinstein spouted the same stupid line on Fox yesterday. Do they have any idea how ridiculous this sounds?

Gen. Clark does and excellent job demonstrating that a life in the uniform doesn’t teach you bubcus about politics. He may be an excellent commander and I think he should stick to what he’s good at. McCain managed to thoroughly own him with no more than 2 sentences.

The host should have asked her one by one about each of those countries, why she went there, what was the topic and just how did SHE do anything there???? First it was 35 years of experience. Now it is 80 countries.

She is the real “Desperate Housewife!”

Ok, this is MY take on it, and I might be reading more into what she said than was intended. But as I heard it, and read it again online, my feeling was that she considered John McCain deserving of being in prison. Typical of anti-war types of her era: anyone fighting in Vietnam was a war criminal. Now she might not have meant this, but that’s how I took it—and it makes my blood boil. Bear in mind, I say this as a NON-supporter of McCain. I might not think he’s right for the Presidency, but comments like that remind me that his opposition isn’t worthy of the office, either.

Pity that no one mentioned her trip to China, and how much it cost the country. If memory serves, she dragged every relative and shirttail relative; every contributer to her campaigns, and anyone else she could fit into the entourage. And then there was the TOILET—anyone remember that? Guffaw.

No military experience qualified Bill Clinton?

You don't seem to understand. Let me explain: Dem candidate=GOOD, no matter what. If he has no military experience, that is a good thing. If he's never held a real job, that is a good thing.

GOP candidate=BAD, no matter what. If he has military experience, then military experience means nothing. If he has run a business, it doesn't matter. Running businesses is bad.

See?

I don’t have time to do a search on it, but they carried a special toilet over for Hillary’s use because she thought the Chinese toilets might not be as comfortable. It was hilarious, but also expen$ive.

Watch out Gloria... he's crazy enough to bury you 6 feet under with only a 1 foot snorkel.

They probably needed to construct an xtra-wide toilet to accommodate Hil’s wide load.
