Obama: Sermon on Mount Justifies Same-Sex Unions

(CNSNews.com) - Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) told a crowd at Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio, Sunday that he believes the Sermon on the Mount justifies his support for legal recognition of same-sex unions. He also told the crowd that his position in favor of legalized abortion does not make him "less Christian."
"I don't think it [a same-sex union] should be called marriage, but I think that it is a legal right that they should have that is recognized by the state," said Obama. "If people find that controversial then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind, for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans." (See video here) St. Paul's Epistle to the Romans condemns homosexual acts as unnatural and sinful.

Mr. Obama confuses me here. What does “I will tell you that I don’t believe in gay marriage,” actually mean if he is a “devout Christian” who believes that gay marriage is justified by Jesus in the sermon on the mount?

The message of Scripture is that we are to “judge righteous judgment” (John 7:24) and cultivate spiritual discernment (1 Corinthians 2:15). Spiritual maturity demands that we test values and weigh propositions and exercise sensible discretion but we must never do it with a spitefully critical spirit.
I guess the phrase “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” is justification enough if you are gay.
If he believes this then he is not a Christian. I would be interested in what his church has to say.
Anyone who calls themselves a Christian that votes for this lunatic ( or Shillary for that matter ) needs an altar call to get right with what they believe.
Let’s weigh what scripture actually says against what Mr. Obama says:

There's nothing in the Sermon on the Mount that condones homosexual behavior. Admonishment to love our neighbor is to love him despite his and our sins, not because of them. If we were all sinless, what would be not to love?
I think Obama is full of himself!
It's in the famous "self-esteem" verse where Jesus says that noone should ever feel badly about having sinned against God.

That would be hilarious (if it weren't so retarded)! In fact, the Sermon on the Mount is infinitely more strident than the Law of Moses. NO ONE CAN LIVE IT. Without God's explanations through His servant Paul, we would be without hope in light of the Sermon on the Mount. Thanks God, Paul explains that it is not I, but Christ, living in me, after I receive the Spirit of Adoption. It is the gifts and the fruits of the Spirit that enable the Life of Christ to manifest themselves in me (and anyone else who is "in Christ", as Paul repeatedly says). So please, anyone who desires to "use" Scripture needs to take it as a whole (lest it be incomprehensible or meaningless). Indeed, you need Scripture to interpret Scripture. It's a beautiful thing. Osama, et al, should try it.
Sooner or later the whiners and pouters here on FR are going to realize that JOHN MCCAIN IS THEIR ONLY OPTION ON NOVEMBER 4TH!
