Update: YouTube pulls anti-Islam videos to appease Pakistan
Until now most of the intimidation has been of the “soft” kind, with the Dutch PM nudging Wilders to kindly remind him that if some savage beheads someone over his film, it’s his fault. Now, the inevitable:
The Dutch government is looking into whether it can stop a politician from releasing an anti-Koran film, fearing attacks on its citizens and businesses, a newspaper reported on Monday.
Government lawyers are looking into whether there are legal grounds to ban the film by anti-immigration lawmaker Geert Wilders, who has likened the Koran to Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf, the Telegraaf reported, citing sources close to the cabinet…
The newspaper said the coalition government was divided on the film with the Christian Democrats more in favour of a ban while Labour was pushing freedom of expression and calling on Muslim countries to prevent violence against the Netherlands.
I like the suggestion of a split over whether they should ask Muslims not to kill them. The legal strategy here is a sort of expanded Pentagon Papers defense: The film presents a threat to national security and thus must be suppressed, even though (a) it’s not the film that presents a threat, of course, it’s the barbarians who are willing to slit throats to stifle it, and (b) instead of revealing government secrets, Wilders is purporting to reveal “secrets” about … Islam. In fact, it’s a step more absurd than that — follow the link to Dutch News and you’ll see that the main concern is for, um, heavily armed NATO forces in Afghanistan. That’s not the first time the troops have been used to try to cow Wilders into backing down, so I’ll ask you again what I asked you then: Precisely how much speech are they willing to ban at home to make occupation abroad easier?
Update: Michelle noted this last week, I think, but it fits so well with this post that I’ll lay it in front of you in case you missed it. What’s a free-thinkin’ Internet behemoth to do when it’s banned for letting its users engage in a bit too much free expression? Why, roll back their freedom of expression, of course.

They learned nothing in the 30’s and 40’ about speaking against evil so they are doomed to repeat it.
I don’t think Mein Kamph contained as much hatred as the Koran and Hadith.
We really don’t need a movie – just read the plain language from the Religion of Peace:

The powers to be in the United States will do everything in their power to insure that it never sees the light of day in the U.S.
The sheeple and peasants are not supposed to see or hear anything other “islam is a religion of peace” .
Now, now, now, not so fast. Take a good look at Washington D.C. and many of our local governments and ask yourself if they do not have kneepads on when dealing with Islam.

There is not a single country in Western Europe where the native citizens are reproducing enough to even replace themselves, much less grow. I believe Spain has a birth rate so low that only 129 babies are born to replace every 210 who die. Other countries are not far behind.
They are too concerned about the tax base the Islamic immigrants bring in to support their quasi-socialist governments and aging population to have enough guts to actually defend themselves.

As a practical matter, “banning” a video late in the first decade of the 21st century? Good luck with that!
Did you guys click through to the link about You Tube (which removed the trailers for this film and in fact anything that might be perceived as negative towards Islam after it was subject to an hours-long cyber attack from a Pakistani ISP).
Have you heard anything about this, outside of FR? Nope, neither have I. The Muzzies are taking over and enforcing compliance, unchallenged and in fact with the polite silence of the victims.
It’s incredible. Less than seven years after 9/11 and they have actually increased in power rather than being slapped back to their caves; another seven years, and they will have taken over.
Notice that it is Pakistan that is complaining - our “ally” in the war against terrorism.
So, the most liberal government in the West. The country that allows almost anything, drugs, prostitution, euthanasia, etc. is trying to censor a film??
It's the governments, not the people.
If the government would get out of the way, we could clean it up fast.
Yes, it’s incredible, a lot of people are shocked to hear that the Dutch government wanted to do so.
What is frightened is that if this was any other group, Christians, Jews, etc. they wouldn’t put up with the threat.
This isn’t only a Dutch problem. It’s rampant in all of W. Europe and the US.
The local and Federal governments are actually afraid of these people.
If the immigrants can’t abide by the laws and freedoms, boot them out.
Look at Waco, Ruby Ridge. The gov. swooped in and destroyed those people and they weren’t threatening anyone.
