Why I'm voting for Mike Huckabee

I'm a Texan. And tomorrow I'm voting for Mike Huckabee in our state's primary election.
Yes, I know the popular notion is to cross party lines and vote for Hillary. But what does that actually do besides artificially skewer the Democrat's delegate count?
No, if I want to send a message, then I want to send a loud and clear message to the Republican Party.
I want them to know how disappointed I am with them as they have ignored and abandoned many conservatives.
And the number one group of conservatives the GOP has ignored? Evangelicals. Lets remember that the Christian vote put Bush in the White House over Al Gore in 2000. And it was Evangelicals that made the difference in 2004 shutting out Kerry/Edwards.
And how are we repaid? With Senator McCain? Puh-leaze.
Gov. Huckabee is the only candidate who adequately addresses the needs of Christian conservatives. But understand this; he is much more than just the right moral choice.
Just a few weeks ago Jim Robinson outlined Seven good reasons to support Mike Huckabee. Just as I respect and agree with Dr. James Dobson's endorsement of Huckabee, I also agree with JR's assessment.
Am I throwing away my vote? No more than a conservative who votes for Hillary in the hope that she also will lose. At least if I vote for Mike Huckabee, then I won't need to rush home to take a shower.

Is Huckabee the only GOP candidate on your ballot other than McCain? If not, why not vote for someone who has better conservative credentials? Just wondering.

I early voted and was surprised that I was the first to vote a republican ballot in my 99.999% GOP area; a poll worker told me that many GOP votes had asked for Democrat ballots so they could vote for one of the less liberal candidates over Johnny McC.

Many liberals and Democrats trash any Republicans. All Republicans who ran, except McCain, are better than H & H - short for Hillary and Hussein. McCain is no improvement, has nothing going for him, and in addition has health issues.

I too want to send a message, but I'll find another way than casting a vote for a Christian Socialist.

Great Huckabee testimonial. Forget about Hillary, if you are so inclined to do so then vote for Huckabee because that's the best chance Christian Conservatives have at consolidating some power both near and long term.

Any vote for Hillary gets her one step closer to the White House.
If she's the nominee, she's in. Period.

many conservatives would rather not vote than vote for ron paul, rudy or romney. That leaves Fred but...he was also tired and old.
My friends (haha)...can’t we come up with something better next time???

You write: “I want them to know how disappointed I am with them as they have ignored and abandoned many conservatives.”
This is a meaningless jesture. There aren’t enough voters in that bucket you peer out of while unwilling to test the buckets of the near like minded conservatives. There are not enough people in “your” bucket to win elections.
The GOP knows this.
I know this. The Democrats know this.
How come you don’t know this?

While I don’t agree with your choice of candidate...the {*cough*gag*} Huckster...I agree with your premise. I am voting for Fred Thompson. He is still on the ballot, you know...as is Duncan Hunter who is another FR preferred candidate that I personally would not vote for under any circumstances because I feel he is corrupt. To each his own...but there are more choices than McLame and the Huckster.

I like your bucket analogy. I really do. And while you may be right to state that there aren’t enough Christian conservatives to influence the selection progress, there is one thing to keep in mind: There are enough of us to stay home on election day, or vote third party sending Republicans home in defeat..
Which means that there are plenty of us to around to ensure that Hussein or Hillary take the oath in 2009.
And I’ll be telling the GOP: “I told you so.”
But as a previous poster has already pointed out. The Republican Party just doesn’t care.
To: Responsibility2nd

But what does that actually do besides artificially skewer the Democrat's delegate count? "Skew" and "skewer" are two different words.

No, in Texas all the other candidates that qualified are still listed on the ballot even though they have withdrawn or conceded. So there are others there to vote for if one so chooses.

Understand perfectly the decision you've made. I did the same thing in my primary in Louisiana, as all of the candidates still appeared even though they had dropped out.
Casting a vote against McCain is the best we can hope for at this point. If you don't vote ... no message received. If you vote for McCain ... wrong message received. Voting for a dem ... well, that is obvious.
