Citadel’s been axing like crazy nationwide, due to its ownership’s fiscal idiocy.

Does anyone have a reference to what’s up with Citadel Broadcasting? They seem to be doing massive overhauls at stations all over the country.

Doesn’t she do this every time her contract is up?
Don’t get me wrong, I love her to death but, jeeze, this negotiation strategy doesn’t put much faith in her listeners’ memory or intellignence.

Was quite surprised reading my MAF e-mail a few minutes ago. May our Lord grant clear direction to her path.

Thanks for the cross-posting of that. I wanted to make sure I put out Melanie's official statement, but I want to see FReepers like yourself cross-posting links to stories on this.
It's a very sad day for all of us who are dear friends of Melanie to see her take this hit.
The ratings on her morning show were great, but sadly the company that took over KSFO is in deep financial problems, and she's a casualty.
For 14 years she's used her radio microphone to change America for the better. We all really admire her as a leader and a tireless champion for conservatives and for supporters of our troops (sometimes not intersecting universes!!)

Hi Keat:
As someone who has been aware of the previous situations you speak of, no she doesn't.
They once were trying to force her off the air and took her off the airwaves and the backlash was so great that they recanted.
But this isn't about political differences (which I think motivated their last effort to dump her).
She's gone because the company (Citadel) that bought out ABC Radio is in a financial mess.

Fair enough. Hope she lands locally or gets syndicated from somewhere. We’ll take her in Modesto if she can make ends meet on $28k.

Is Citadel the same company that dumped Curtis and Kuby?

BAD mistake. Last time it seemed they wouldn’t renew her contract, the backlash was massive.

Her husband is general manager of KSFO and the liberal KGO. The stations are in the very liberal SF bay area. She went through a contract dispute a few years ago and was off the air for a few weeks. Eventually they settled. Since the station has been sold, this may be different this time around. She is a real fire brand and a die hard conservative. I will miss her.
To: Impeach98
We could use her out here in Sacramento. The major local AM station that launched a major national talk radio host has bumped all conservative talk over to their B-market station. I don’t listen to them any more except for the major national show in the morning. She could fill a huge demand during evening drive-time if a local competitor was courageous enough to take the jump and invest in her for six months.

She’s welcome to join the crew at KFYI here in Arizona! We could stand to replace the pre-Rush talk show host with someone who carries a consistent conservative message.

IMO, this was a planned strategy to silence certain influential voices under the guise of ‘the bottom line’.
