I'm going to enjoy writing about a general election campaign against Barack Obama.
As Corner contributor Dave Kopel and David Bernstein note, Barack Obama proposed a few years ago a federal law against licensed firearms dealers operating within five miles of a school or park. As Kopel notes, "Every town I've ever visited which has more than a few dozen inhabitants has either a school or a park. Hypothesizing that the ban would apply to city parks (e.g., Central Park in New York City) but not to National Parks, pick a geographical region, and describe where a licensed firearms dealer could operate. Or pick a geographic point (e.g, Houston)and identify how far a peson would have to drive in order to get to the closest point where a gun store could legally be located. Extra credit for illustrative maps."
As the commenters noted, this would effectively ban gun shops from most of the country, and just about every city.
However, Obama appears to find another kind of establishment to be perfectly fine operating near your children's school:
Obama was also the sole present vote on a bill that easily passed the Senate that would require teaching respect for others in schools. He also voted present on a measure to prohibit sex-related shops from opening near schools or places of worship, which ultimately did not pass the Senate.
In both of those cases, his campaign said, he was trying to avoid mandates on local authorities.
The bill did not get the required three-fifths majority, so it did not in fact pass. (Mr. Obama voted “present” on the measure.)
Why on God's green earth does Barack Obama object to mandates on local authorities for porn shops but not for gun stores? Or conversely, why does he feel it's necessary to keep gun stores five miles from a school, but no limit on porn shops?
Minorities, Women and Children hardest hit. Obama-Ramadhan is a naive and dangerous person.
Guns stores that offer porn should be exempt.
If the Republican Party would just find it’s courage, neither Hillary nor Obama would be that hard to beat.
Instead, they trip over themselves trying not to get a tongue lashing from the NY Times.
Maybe we should just outlaw politicians.

IMO. The ONLY reason he’s done so well against Hillary is because they’re not really throwing blows like McCain will do to the winner of the RAT primary.
I think the major reason he is doing well is that he is running in races where the voters are democrats. That means a large fraction of them have trouble understanding which end of the gun is dangerous let alone understanding what any specific candidate for office might do to our constitution.
This is like running Cynthia McKinney for POTUS (without the overt attitude).

Yeah, I started having those thoughts but grew pretty concerned when I thought of the sheeple being produced in the Barack Obama "approved" public schools across this nation and I thought of the slow and painful death suffered by common sense. Then I remembered something my pastor had once said in a sermon that makes utter and chilling sense when applied here (not an exact quote):
The image that most folks have of Satan is a silly red creature with horns and a pitchfork and that simply is not true. Lucifier was created by God to be the most beautiful of the angels, therefore Satan is going to be winsome and attractive and well spoken. He's going to make you want to be around him all the time because he makes you feel good about yourself and your role in the future and he keeps those good times rollin'!
Never underestimate the power of evil to find a way. NOW how confident do you feel? Sorry. Forewarned is forearmed, right? If we treat this as the mother of all political battles, we are unlikely to be ambushed like Hillary has been. But this is one political contest we can't afford to lose. We're fighting for the soul of the nation. Don't take it lightly. Right?

Why would the federal government be considering any stupid legislation like this? Be it gun shops or porn shops??
Local communities can take care of this all by themselves without the help of the federal government. It’s called zoning laws.
Even the 1000 feet under GFSA was rediculous. Between elementary, junior high, high schools, charters, parochial schools, etc., I’m sure at least 50-60% of my town of about 30 square miles is within 1000 feet of a school.
I guess inconveniencing you if you’re the type to shoot up a school but don’t plan ahead enough to buy your weapon till the day you’re going to do it?
I have seen square ones, inluding pizzas, but I like the round ones.

Remember something - while you and I are out here working to pay the bills, struggling to put our children through half-way decent private or parochial schools (as well as pay for the brainwashing of other children in the Government School system with our taxes, at gunpoint, ultimately), while we’re trying to be good, law-abiding CITIZENS with UNALIENABLE RIGHTS, these socialist vermin on the left are working 24-7-365 on ways to defraud you and strip those rights from you under the color of law. They have an ARMY of lawyers and legislatures working on the weasel-wording to make you a criminal overnight. They are working with international organizations (the UN, for one) to craft laws that restrict and ultimately abolish your rights to do ANYTHING to protect yourself.
Like they did in the Soviet Union. Like they did in National Socialist Germany. Like they did in Venezuela when the little pervert Chavez took over. Like they did in Cuba. Like they did/do in EVERY Worker’s Paradise and Utopia that they set up. Do the research. Go out to www.jpfo.org and READ what happens when CITIZENS become disarmed SUBJECTS.
Self-defense is THE MOST BASIC HUMAN RIGHT. It is a CIVIL RIGHT. It is a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT, and these socialist scumbags are breaking the law of the land with every illegal law they pass restricting your right to keep (own, possess, retain, maintain) and bear (carry on your person or vehicle) arms (weapons, typically small arms, as in military or military-style) for personal defense.
The full faith and credit clause of the US Constitution, which EVERY DAMNED STATE IN THE UNION had to ratify (agree to abide by)guarantees your right to be armed. But they’ll tell us it only applies to homo-marriage and abortion (NOT in the Constitution) not your 2nd Amendment right (CLEARLY stated in the Constitution, as well as in almost EVERY State constitution).
That the Dems HATE the fact that we own firearms is enough for me to NEVER, EVER TRUST THEM WITH HOLDING OFFICE. If they, as public servants, do not have faith and trust in ME, as a sovereign law-abiding citizen with well-enumerated and stated-in-law rights, then they can go to hell. The contract is over. It’s treason, and nobody calls them to the carpet for it. Repubs have no balls to do it.
As far as the porn shops go, it clearly shows their prerogatives and agenda - get the young interested in sex as early as possible, use the public schools to corrupt the morals that their families try to teach them, get their minds off their history and heritage as Americans, their government, rights, and faith and any other impediment to the socialist agenda, and definitely do NOT let the young realize that they have rights that other men died for that are worth defending.
Without the 2nd Amendment to defend them, the other nine amendments are meaningless words on paper. Period.
