Famed Hurricane Forecaster William Gray Predicts Global Cooling in 10 Years

Famed Hurricane Forecaster William Gray Predicts Global Cooling in 10 Years Expert states ocean cycles will have a more profound effect on climate than CO2; criticizes James Hansen's climate models.

By Jeff Poor Business & Media Institute 3/4/2008 11:47:32 AM

It turns out Al Gore was wrong. The scientists aren’t all in agreement on global warming; thus there is no “consensus.”

Prominent hurricane forecaster Dr. William M. Gray, a professor at Colorado State University, told the audience at the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change on March 4 in New York that a natural cycle of ocean water temperatures related to the salinity (the amount of salt) in ocean water was responsible for some global warming that has taken place. However, he said that same cycle means a period of cooling would begin within 10 years.

“We should begin to see cooling coming on,” Gray said. “I’m willing to make a big financial bet on it. In 10 years, I expect the globe to be somewhat cooler than it is now, because this ocean effect will dominate over the human-induced CO2 effect and I believe the solar effect and the land-use effect. I think this is likely bigger.”

Gray, 79, wasn’t sure if he’d be around to see his prediction come true.

“I may not be around by that time,” Gray said. “But, I’ve asked some of my students to put dandelions on my grave if that happens.”

Gray criticized NASA scientist and global warming alarmist James Hansen, calling him “the most egregious abuser” of data. According to Gray, Hansen’s alarmism is exaggerated because the models he uses to predict the increase in global warming count on too much water vapor in the atmosphere.

We need to start producing a lot more greenhouse gas to try and offset this. Now there’s a thought that would make the heads of global warming cultists explode.

There might be a consensus among scientists. They might agree that they like bagels toasted and with butter and jam even if their doctors tell them to cut out the fat. But that isn't science. Science is not run by consensus. Neither is mathematics, which is an even more obvious example.

Famed FReeprer Wilco200 predicts global warming in the northern hemisphere over the next six months, followed by six months of global cooling. Wilco200 will also go out on a limb and predict the exact opposite for the southern hemisphere.

Doubtful, although I hope he's wrong. I really, really like global warming and hope it continues for another couple decades.

On a semi-related note, I saw a program a couple weeks ago (either the Science or History channel, I can't remember which) that theorized most of the really big changes in climate over the earth's history were the result of continental drift blocking certain ocean currents.

If he’s the guy I’m thinking of, he’s no small potatoes as far as meteorology is concerned.

I have a video he’s on where he talks about a hurricane hitting NO and he was pretty close about the scenario that ended up happening with the levees breaching when Katrina hit.

Buy SUV's. Hooray for cow farts. Reopen the coal mines! The only way to save us from the attacking glaciers is to start spewing CO2 in vast quantities now. We only have 10 years to save the planet! Global cooling deniers should be arrested and jailed.

Did it make the news when James Hansen had to correct his U.S. temperature data for bias back in August of 2007 and the corrected data showed that in the USA that 7 of the hottest 11 years all occurred before 1955!

Well, my county has had 2.5 inches of rain—basement flooded due to sump pump being blocked by a piece of floating wood that once was part of a shelf for plastic bins of stored stuff. I turned off the main, unblocked the pump, turned it back on and got the water out. Cleaned all the storage bins, stuff inside was dry, thank heaven.

Then, 6 inches of snow so far today. *sigh* I would love to have some serious global warming. Okay, maybe just the northern hemisphere. All right, just my county. But, could it be quick, please?

Spring cannot come soon enough for me.

Interesting. When this guy predicts an above average hurricane season - as in the past two years - and is wrong, he gets ripped here for creating hype. When he predicts global cooling, his predictions are eagerly accepted.

Very astute point. Many Solar Scientists are worried about the current and possible future inactivity of the Sun’s sunspots. Most agree that the next Solar Cycle will be a low one, with some saying future activity could be as low as the Dalton or Maunder Minimum. (Both occurring during the Little Ice Age, especially the Maunder Minimum). I hope they are DEAD WRONG because this would be much worse than the Gorbal Warming junk tat we have been spoon fed for years.
