Melanie Morgan off KSFO airwaves

WND exclusive columnist Melanie Morgan, renowned radio personality, national conservative leader and co-author with Catherine Moy of "American Mourning, A Story of Two Families," has announced her departure from talk radio powerhouse KSFO 560 AM.
Citadel Broadcasting, which owns KSFO, decided not to renew Morgan's contract as part of the company's announced across-the-board cost-cutting, and her last broadcast on the station was today.
"It has truly been an honor for me to work at KSFO for the past 14 years. What I loved most about my time at KSFO was that it allowed me to connect with listeners and take action to make real changes in the world," she said. "We never had a one-way dialogue with our listeners, and we never believed that we had to resolve ourselves to accept the status quo. We got out of our chairs, left our homes and offices, and circulated petitions, rallied for our troops and met with government leaders."
She said her efforts also were "to make sure that we left an even better world for our children than the one we had inherited from generations before us."
She said her work on conservative issues would continue.

Perhaps her numbers have fallen off, but it sure amazes me the decisions some radio station managers make.
Given that she broadcast out of the bay area, I’m shocked she lasted this long.
They’ll probably replace her with a Global Warming show and not get the hypocrisy of how much electricity it takes to power the station.
Citadel strikes again!!!! This time on the left coast. What is up with this company? Do they have something against conservatives?
BTW I think Citadel lost their shirts with the Imus deal. I hope his ratings go down in flames.
As a LONG time listener of Melanie on KSFO, I am shocked that this radio group could let he get away. What this lady has done for California, the nation, our troops, and every cause that IS AMERICA, is astonishing and it puts her miles above the complicit liberal rabble of the MSM. She is jewel in many ways.
Maybe the fact that she differentiates herself from the garbage-level thugs of the MSM, is why they are not keeping her. It usually is all about the money and politics anyway.
Some network or station will certain get a winner, a true patriot and America who cares about America. The MSM is tanking because they lack such true Americans that care about this country and what its governmet is doing TO IT.
Good Luck Melanie. It will follow you, whereever you go. We look forward to hearing you on network radio, continuing your great work FOR AMERICA.
KSFO as a station ranks #7 in the market.
But the Lee Rodgers & Melanie Morgan Show was the #1 drive-time talk radio program, and was frequently Top 3 in San Francisco of all formats for some of the hours in the 4-hour program.
That's the saddest part... you do a good job, you get the numbers/ratings, and you still get fired :-(
Poor Mel, I sure hope she turns up somewhere else with an even better gig. She's a great asset for conservatives to have on the airwaves. She walks the walk, not just talks, and she is passionate about her beliefs.
It's very sad.
Whether they intended to do this deliberately or not, they are in effect helping to destroy conservative talk radio right as the 2008 elections approach.
She was the one reason I listened to their AM show!
And she had kick-butt ratings!
It's like you want to go look to see who is keeping their jobs at Citadel and ask: OK, and what have YOU done on your job to compare to Melanie's work. Because what Melanie did wasn't good enough, apparently, so what did YOU do that allowed you to keep YOUR job?
“because of their potentially-criminal financial behavior.”
On the part of the Conservative talkers? Interesting, please tell me more.
The (or one) problem is that Lee can carry a show by himself. Melanie cant, IMO. Nor can (could?) Officer Vic.
Also her voice tended to get on my nerves at some point.
Another one I really couldnt stand was Barbara Simpson. Thats probably just me though.
I always wondered what happened to Jim Easton (Eason?). I think he mustve died or something
I appreciate your comments, I liked her also even with my limited exposure to her program, and hope she gets a better gig as well. I know she has been active, and I have appreciated her efforts.
Ratings are purported to be good. Supposedly ad revenue is a bit down due to fears of recession. T’was a business decision by Citadel who has reportedly chopped numerous radio personalities in several markets. Melanie’s contract was the one that was up for renewal so hers was the one that wasn’t renewed. They would have had to pay off Lee Rodgers’ contract if he was chopped, so no benefit to cut him.
Jim Eason has been retired for a number of years.
She likes you Dr. Raoul, so that’s probably one of the better offers she’ll get :-)
Citadel sure is dumping a lot of talent. Maybe they will find a better home.
That sounds about right. Thanks.
Citadel lost a ton of money last year, around $1.4 billion. It overpaid for the ABC/Disney stations it acquired and due to a big slump in ad revenue was forced to make huge write downs. I was listening to Lee Rodgers and he stated Melanie Morgan’s contract was up and Citadel decided to cut costs not to renew it. They could not get rid of Lee because he has several years on his contract. To be totally honest I am glad Lee was the one who remined. Morgan is passionate but an intellectual lightweight. Lee is the one who really carries the show.
There's a reason Melanie was a national figure, why she made a real difference in the world - getting MTBE out of the gasoline here in Calif, recalling Gov. Gray Davis, going head to head with Cindy Sheehan, Michael Moore, Medea Benjamin, etc...
That reason is that Melanie cared too much about her beliefs to just talk about them. She had to take action. That energy and leadership got a lot of other conservatives to say, "OK, I'll join you" - and she made a real impact on the world.
Lee's got a great mind, but he's a bit too much of a cynic. There's only so much leadership that can come from calling someone "a jerk."
OK, so this or that liberal Democrat politician is a jerk. But what are we going TO DO about it?
Melanie reigned supreme on that front, and her absence is a devastating blow to Northern Calif. conservatives.
They would have had to pay off Lee Rodgers contract if he was chopped, so no benefit to cut him.

smart old codger.. lol.
and he’d gladly accept it and hitch a ride to Tahiti the next day.. then it’d be the Ossifer Vic and Melanie Morgan Hill show.. they had a long run... a long run.. I do miss Eason too. He’s living back East in the Carolinas or such.

I like Barbara Simpson. About as intelligent as they come. Can’t deal with the former weather guy, however.
Getting ready for next year after the inauguration?
The difference between Lee and Mel is that Mel is an activist, Lee is more of an intellectual.
We desperately need activists. I hope she gets another talk show... and keeps kicking ass.
I think if Lee was the one who left, they’d give the slot to Brian Sussman permanently and put a different show in at the 6:00 hour - personally, I’d love for them to move Mark Levin up to the 6-8 slot when their transmitter is still strong.
Nope, they moved him over to KGO exclusively and brought in Ken Berry to be Program Director of KSFO.
Thanks,, they have made some changes there, huh?

She was instrumental in the Grey Davis recall. She has a bright future.
I guess. He disappeared off the face of the earth and nobody seems to know for sure one way or other.
I enjoyed his afternoon show on KSFO. At the time he was doing it via DSL (?) from his home in one of the Carolinas.
My understanding was that he was semi-retired at the time.
Then it got to where hed miss a week or two and Simpson would fill in. Then he would be back without acknowledging missing time. I personally began to suspect health issues.
It went like that for 3 or 4 months miss a week or so, be back, miss shows, return. Then one day I realized Barbara Simpson had been filling in for 6 weeks and he never came back.
To my recollection there was never any sort of farewell show or reference to retiring for good or anything. Just disappeared. Maybe there was and I just missed it.
I also wonder whatever happened to Melanie Morgans book. I recall that she had been a reporter in Kansas City (?) and there had been a case in which some female had been found murdered in her apartment. All doors and windows locked from the inside and no sign of break in. She was supposedly writing a book that would solve it or whatever.
I always thought she was something of a likeable ditz. Like the story shed tell about Ted Nugent pulling down her peasant top to check out her rack. Or the time she ended up in a wheel chair for some period of time after trying to walk barefoot on hot coals. LOL.
Lee always said that the Bay Area was the Worlds Largest Open Air Freak Show and she fit right in (in her own way).
The Bay area has had many unique radio and tv folk over the years.. and a columnist or two of note as well..
I remember the end of Eason also and can only wish him well. He was a hoot.
I agree. Frankly, I was getting a little bored with the constant drumbeat for Move America Forward. It's a great cause, and I support it, but I don't want to hear about it every single day.
IMO, there is no better combination than Lee Rodgers and Officer Vic. Brian Sussman's OK, whenever he's not filling us in on his exciting weekend. Where did he ever get the idea that anyone wanted to hear about his latest ski trip or his sons' high school football game? Great way to lose 80% of the audience.
Is KSFO owned by a different company now?
If she were too infected with that curse, as you mention it would have confined her to pontification instead of her activizm which is making such an important impact on this nation and Patriotism in general.
I noticed more than one poster referring to Mel’s lack of intellectualizm as a condescending value, while I see it as a Badge of Honor.
Although there are lots of political astute patriotic intellectuals that I appreciate, the group as a whole is highly overrated IMO.
I myself have never had to fight off the demeaning label of Intellectual (as if! LOL.)
Looking like a negative for Melanie at this time, this will catapult her more onto the national political scene and be a boon to her career.
No IMO, it's a fact.
Melanie Morgan Rocks!
Down boy...
Hi, Sync.
melanie will land on her feet with a better deal, I’m sure.
There’s no stopping her.
Forced upward mobility LOL
Fox should yank that twit Geraldo and give Melanie his show slot.
I’d be happy to do it for them.... Please?
Melanie and Monica (Crowley) 2 Conservababes. would be a cool team.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely a hetero gal, but it makes me happy to see bright beautiful women succeed.
As opposed to that demented crone the Democrats are parading around as a Presidential candidate.
exactly
It could happen... ;-)
I'm sorry to hear that our daily support for the troops bores people.
**Melanie and Monica (Crowley) 2 Conservababes. would be a cool team.**
DITTO ... from one Rightwing Heterosexual White Guy whose not afraid of Powerful Women
KSFO, however has just disappeared from my “Favorites” list.
No reason to listen now, at all.
bye bye!
