OBAMA, Japan - Obama has finally thanked Obama.
The fishing town of Obama in central Japan recently won worldwide fame for its fervent support for U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama. The town's citizens have made headbands, T-shirts and sweet bean cakes decorated with his portrait. The town's mayor even sent gifts.
Now, on the eve of crucial primaries in Texas and Ohio, the mayor of Obama the town is all smiles after hearing from Obama the man.
Mayor Toshio Murakami said Tuesday he received a letter a day earlier from Obama in response to a letter, DVD and lacquerware chopsticks he sent the candidate more than a year ago.
"I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the city of Obama for your support and encouragement and thank you for your thoughtful gift," the Democratic front-runner wrote in a letter mailed from Washington carrying a Feb. 25 postmark.
"We share more than a common name," Obama wrote. "We share a common planet and common responsibility. I look forward to a future marked by the continued friendship of our two great nations and shared commitment to a better, freer world."
Town officials said they believed the letter was genuine, although they had not verified it. They said they were concerned that it would be impolite to ask the candidate's office.

I nominate our Obama to run for Mayor of Obama, Japan.
A far-left socialist can do a lot less damage as Mayor of one small town than as POTUS.

Can Obama move to Obama and run for president of Obama? They're looking upon this as a friendly gesture toward America. And it's sort of a fun gimmick of the type that often becomes popular in Japan. But someone like Obama wouldn't stand a snowball's chance of actually getting elected in Japan.

The charters for the town mean "small beach."
Being that Obama's real accomplishments are small and he just washed in on us, I'd say we have a good fit.
However, once the townspeople of Obama discovered what an empty suit he is, I doubt he could be elected their dog catcher, much less their mayor.

Just kidding. It means "Little Beach". I think ohama is more proper but as a town name I assume it's evolved into Obama.

News reports say it is written with the Japanese characters for "small" and "shore". So, Barack Hussein Obama could be translated using Arabic and Japanese as "Blessed Grandson of Mohammed Littlebeach".
Personally, I'd like to have a somewhat larger shore in charge of the country's affairs. A Bigbeach like Waikiki. Oh, that's right, he's running against the Bigbeach.

One thing I learned in Japan was not to read too much into the names of towns. They're really just names. One town I camped outside of at one point, Magome, could translate to about a dozen different things. My favorite translation was "Stuffy Horse".
Anyway, any day now Empty Suit will beat Icy Harpy, and we can settle down and get to the business of reluctantly supporting Traitrous RINO against Empty Suit.

Will, let's see. Hillary is a tough one because there is no "L" in Japanse consonates. If you pick characters corresponding with HI, RA and RI we could get:
- HI = fire
- RA = naked
- RI= diarrhea
She would turn this country into something like unto the fires of hell, tax us all until we were destitute and naked, and cripple our healthcare to the point that disease and diarrhea were the norm.
Would that work in lieu of big beach since the only readings for big are OO, TAI and DAI and the only readings for beach are HAMA, BAMA and HIN?

I think ohama is more proper but as a town name I assume it's evolved into Obama.Bama is the proper reading when it is the second character of a proper name. Just like Hayashi turns to Bayashi in the proper name Kobayashi. OTOH, there are exceptions. There is a Nagahama (long beach) to the east of Osaka-- it would be Nagabama if the normal rule were followed.
