Egypt and Jordan may have to temporarily take control of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank due to the Palestinian leadership's inability to curb terror activity in its territories, Pensioners' Affairs Minister Rafi Eitan, a member of the security cabinet, said on Tuesday.
"The Palestinians don't have the internal ability to overpower the terrorist bodies within them. More and more, the Palestinians are losing their ability and entitlement to [establish] an independent Palestinian state," Eitan told Army Radio.
Eitan's statements come at a time when Egypt and Jordan are becoming more involved in providing for the needs of the Palestinian population.
Egypt is reportedly considering supplying the besieged Gaza Strip with electricity.
Meanwhile, the West Bank town of Jericho was recently connected to the Jordanian electric grid, for the first time since the Six Day War.
Egypt has also found it difficult to maintain the integrity of its border with Gaza, with hundreds of thousands of Palestinians crossing unchecked between the two territories over a period of 12 days in January and February.
Actually, this is good news.
I concur! Let other Arbas smash their heads and the MSM will have a doozy of a time trying to spin that.
I would be but I dont think that Egypt of Jordan will swallow that poison pill.
“Arbas” is supposed to be Arabs.

Please take all of your castaways back home so Israel can live in peace.
Kicking and screaming only, but the border with Gaza has caused Egypt a problem or two and terrorists are collecting in the Sinai. Should Israel invade, it's not a certainty they'll continue a long term occupation. Might be Egypts best alternative. About $3 billion in aid to Egypt and Jordan the US could use as leverage, but we won't do that.
After 60 years of Arab countries “supporting thre Palestian cause” by killing Jews and Americans, it would be a welcome change to see them turn the lights on and deliver some frozen dinners.

You reap what you sow Egpyt. They're all yours.....enjoy.
I have been calling for this for years.
“Egypt and Jordan may have to temporarily take control of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank due to the Palestinian leadership’s inability to curb terror activity in its territories, Pensioners’ Affairs Minister Rafi Eitan, a member of the security cabinet, said on Tuesday.”
Now that’s good thinking.
though I doubt Egypt “wants” Gaza.
Now I see the two state solution: Israel and Egypt.
“I would be but I dont think that Egypt of Jordan will swallow that poison pill.”
Yeah I gotta agree. There’s a reason Egypt and Jordan haven’t lobbied too much for the return of lost land from the Six Day war....too many Palestinians living there.
Good idea - Jordan and Egypt have both shown competence in dealing with violent Arabs. Now we just have to wait for Abdullah and Mubarak to both go temporarily insane and agree to the deal. *sigh*
Letting Arab troops into Gaza and Judea-Samaria?
Sounds stupid.
SEND THEM THE SCHMUCKISTINIANS, AND their lousy “mosque”.
AND KEEP THE LAND.
Egypt might be persuaded to do it, in exchange for significant modifications to the treaty with Israel. That would be a hard pill for Israel to swallow. Though the minister is correct, the Palestinians do not have internal stability - indeed Arafat’s rule fostered the factionalism (playing all sides against each other to keep himself in power). Ultimately the idea of two states, one for Jews and one for Arabs under economic unity has been a failed notion. Only a peaceful Jordan and Egypt could swallow these territories, and enforce the peace. An Israeli reoccupation or heavier hand would be regarded with resentment, just as Israeli assistance is taken for granted.
There are no realistic scenarios under which the Palestinians would unite under one banner and make peace with Israel, which is the only solution the Israels should ever contemplate accepting. That was the reason they accepted the PLO and legitimized Arafat. It failed. Time for a new paradigm.
