LOS ANGELES — A high school football star described as "a Houdini on the football field" was shot dead on Sunday in random gang violence and his mother was returning from her second tour of duty in Iraq.
Jamiel Andre Shaw, 17, was shot multiple times on a sidewalk a few yards from his home after he didn't respond when two men pulled up in a car and asked him, "Where you from?" — code for which gang did he belong to, police said. He was not a gang member.
Authorities are calling the shooting a random, unprovoked gang attack.
Shaw, a standout running back at Los Angeles High School and the Southern League's most valuable player last season, was shot about 8:40 p.m. Sunday in the Crenshaw area. He died later at a local hospital.

This is a racially motivated crime. If the victim weren’t black, the perps would not have assumed he was in a gang and would not have thrown down on him. If he were Asian, he might have just been beaten up.
But because of his race, this young man was killed. Will the DOJ file charges under the “Hate Crimes Act” against the shooters? Or will this just be considered routine since the victim is black even though the shooters are likely serial killers?
I'd bet a paycheck that the murdering thugs are "undocumented" guests in this country, just doing the drive-bys that Americans won't do.

There was a discussion about this on another thread some time back and the posters were commenting that the Latino gangs are targeting the blacks to exterminate them.
It’ll start when the black community realizes what’s going on. They need to get over the victim mentality and fight back. It’ll get real ugly in the cities at that point.
Essentially correct except for one error -- they're not human. They may appear human but they're not. They are feral beasts who happen to know how to talk, drive cars and pull triggers on guns. Not every creature with a head, two legs, two arms and the ability to ape some form human verbal communication should be considered part of mankind.

Heartbreaking. Here’s a family doing everything right and they’re handed this. I cannot comprehend that kind of senseless loss. My heartfelt sympathies to his family and I hope the vermin that did this are removed from the planet ..pronto.

The irony is the since the suspects appear to be Latino it will be recorded as a White on Black hate crime for DOJ statistics because of the absence of Hispanic as a perpetrator class.
Incorrect. There are specific categories of "white, non-hispanic" and "white, hispanic" in the criminal statistical databases. My wife enters stats as part of her job. The change was made because hispanic criminal activity was getting buried in the "white, non-hispanic" group and mislabeled. Once it was correctly classified, the pattern became quite obvious.

I'd pass on that bet. I would, however, double-or-nothing that all of the shooters involved, and 70-30 odds the victim of the shooting, were fatherless boys.
Simple solutions. Not EASY solutions, but simple solutions. Race and residential legality are beside the point in this story, but the MSM will certainly daintily sidestep the real issue -- the most common denominator here isn't race or legal status or even income, I'll bet. It's a result of a society that funds young single motherhood. Very ugly reality that has many putting their hands over their ears going "Nyayn nayayaya nyayaya I can't hear you!"
The author of the book says the media in LA will not report the pattern which has seen half a dozen similar murders in the last couple of years.One last comment the criminalization of drugs has made these gangs rich and stokes the fires of some of these shootings. Same as the Italians in the 20s and early 30s. Those who don't heed history are doomed to report it.
If I were you I'd read the entire article before doubling down. The boy's father, Jamiel Sr., lived in the home and had called his son home from the mall the night he was killed. His mother was serving in Iraq. Sounds like a solid family stuck in a LA craphole to me.
The Salvadoran Mara Salvatrucha thugs are predominantly illegals and would benefit minimally from having fathers around. In fact many of these vatos are second generation gang bangers.

Anger at illegal aliens is a little too easy, and I've worked side-by-side with too many illegals who were GREAT co-workers, and have worked side-by-side with too many legals who were FLAKES, to be so cavalier. Meet a paycheck or work a series of grunt-jobs and then talk about illegals. The "illegal" is not the problem. Government give-aways that encourage illegals to come and be social dependents, are the problem. You can go on a big hate spree against illegals if you want, but you're jousting at smoke rings. The cause of them being here is what I am jousting at.

I'm not on a hate spree. Just a reality check. I had a neighbor whose son in grad school was mowed down and killed by an "undocumented" drunk driver from a South American country. According to his boss, he was a hard worker and he had a social sec. card and a MD drivers license. Forged.
Ted "Swimmer" Kennedy and his buddies in the Senate have been holding the door open to these invaders for over 30 years with hopes of getting them legalized and registered to vote. Anecdotal tales of tragedy don't make the entire case, but you know as well as I do that the Callefournea jails are full of "visitors" from down south. Mayhem all over this country can be directly attributed to our politicians lack of fortitude in closing the Southern border to these parasites.
I've owned a small business and never lacked for workers with suspicious documents asking for work. Truth be told many would likely have been better employees than the lazy slugs that churned through with valid ID. So I followed the law and got punked by cheating competitors.

It’s the government “safety net” support system that creates the problems, not the folks themselves, and the demand for them is real no matter how much people ridicule “doing the jobs Americans won’t do.” They’ve been an important part of the California economy for as long as anybody can remember, but only in the last generation has the term “illegal” (used to be “wetback”) even meant much socially or politically other than just as a passing observation, mostly. Enforce the laws on the books and TAKE AWAY THE WELFARE SAFETY NETS. Not to mention minimum wage laws, but that’s whole ‘nother talk show!
Now wait a minute...unless you're rich, there is nowhere left to run. A lot of neighborhoods that were quite decent 25 years ago have gone very bad. Things really started to go downhill after the 1986 amnesty, IMHO.

A 6-year-old boy riding in a sedan was shot in the head and hospitalized in critical but stable condition Tuesday when two suspects flashed gang signs at the vehicle and then opened fire.
A manhunt was under way today for two suspected Latino gang members who opened fire on an SUV in the Harbor Gateway area, critically wounding a 6-year-old boy in the head in the latest in a series of high-profile shootings in Los Angeles.
