I was a kid in the fifties. My mom would fix snow with sugar, milk and vanilla. Delicious. But being from a large family we didn’t get a whole lot of treats.

Maple sap, boiled down but still hot liquid. That’s what we got once in a while. Once in a blue moon.

Yep, living in Alabama now, not much chance of getting snow ice cream, but I sure would love a bowl full.

Aahhhh! Snow cream! Childhood would not have been the same without it. I ate the stuff by the pounds as a kid. Never the first snow, and always taken from well below the top of the snowfall.
