Growing up I was always told that you didn’t want a black dog because they overheat more easily, but then again I was raised in South Texas.

This wasn't made up for the movie, though: the mascot of 617 Squadron RAF really was named that.

I love ALL dogs. Big ones, small ones, black, white and every shade in between. I have a black schnauzer, a beige cairn terrier and a westie.

No, unfortunately - it's deadly serious. It is not restricted to any particular state...the rescues I work with are all across the USA & Canada.

While I'm at it - I can't say enough about the dedication of these wonderful rescue groups who go to shelters to save as many as they can - even transport them to foster homes with room to take them - help train them & find loving forever homes for them.

OMG! Talk about un-PC! “Dam” and “Sire”, of course, are dog breeder terms terms like “bitch” and “stud.” Now I get it. I did see the movie a long time ago. A genius named Barnes-Wallis develops a bomb shaped like a barrel; it skims across the water, hits a big hydroelectric dam, and there goes the neighborhood!

I had one! My "Porkie" was 12 when she passed. The smartest dog I have ever known. She was free was I got her, because she was considered a "mutt". Now breeders want approx. $1000 for a "designer dog!

I had a couple of black Labs in San Diego. Very sweet dogs. Very determined digging machines too :-) One of my Labs was obviously crossed with a Golden Retriever. She looked like an ordinary black Lab with indoor light. In the sun, you could see a golden haze that stood just a little taller than her black fur. Both of my labs were adopted at the humane society.

how shallow! i have two cavalier king charles spaniels, but love ALL dogs and would have bunch more of all kinds if i didn’t have a husband who is doing well to tolerate our two little butt-pains now! i think rescue work is wonderful, and my friend VRWCmember and his wife rescue goldens, so i am going to ping him here.

I’ll be honest, I love animals with white paws. Especially cats. All my animals have white paws, except the ones that chose me by wandering in. They just look so clean and cute.

The color of the rest of the animal doesn’t matter to me.
