MIAMI - A Miami federal judge is ordering a former Peruvian army officer to pay $37 million for his role in a 1985 massacre in Peru.
The damages were awarded to two women who were children at the time and survived the massacre of 69 civilians.
The judge previously ruled that former Peruvian army Maj. Telmo Hurtado (TELL'-mo er-TAH'-do) committed torture, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Hurtado refused to participate in the case and did not testify at hearings last month. It is unclear how the damages would be collected.

Who paid for it?
Huh? A U.S. judge ordering a Peruvian Office to pay for acts committed in Peru in 1985? I don't get this.
Legislating (across national boundaries) from the bench....??
It’s what can be expected in the future with the prevailing desire for globalism. Commit a crime in Paris, go to jail in Cleveland.
Crazy.
Its this kind of nonsense will justifies Iranian and Venezualan courts to file charges against the U.S. for ‘global terrorism’ or whatever other nonsense and then creating huge criminal penalties or fines which then get taken out on US companies overseas. While these two girls feel better about this, they have basically just made our relations in S America more complicated and have given other terrorist loving nations more reasons to harrass us overseas.
So, thanks ladies! Cuz its not like this judgement means squat in Peru.
