Report: Patrick Swayze Diagnosed With Pancreatic Cancer, Has Five Weeks to Live
Wednesday, March 05, 2008
"Dirty Dancing" star Patrick Swayze was diagnosed in late January with pancreatic cancer that has spread to other organs and he has five weeks left to live, according to the National Enquirer.
For the past month, Patrick, 55, has been traveling to Stanford University's prestigious cancer center in Palo Alto for radical chemotherapy, but his doctors no longer are optimistic that the treatments will be successful, the Enquirer says.
According to the Enquirer, Patrick and his wife, Lisa Niemi who both have pilot's licenses have been flying their private Beechcraft plane into Palo Alto's airport, minutes from the Stanford Cancer Center, where the actor reportedly has received outpatient treatment.
He received three doses of chemotherapy and the tumor shrank, but less than his doctors had hoped for and Patrick was told he should prepare for the worst, the Enquirer reports.

To paraphase a quote from Donnie Brasco, "How can Patrick Swayze DIE?"
Very sad and may the Lord guide him.
I saw him in a movie tho other night on DirecTV, I almost couldn’t recognize him. I thought it was his brother........not sure when it was made.......
Poor guy. God bless.
Sad. Seems like a good guy. Married to the same woman for over 30 years.
Godspeed......
Always a sad thing when anyone this young has to face death. Hopefully we’ll see an effective cure for cancer before too many years in the 21st century have passed.
This was it, 2005..........
Prayers, pancreatic is the worst...thought there were some new treatments.
Prayers up
Horribly sad news.
Oh, man. This is just like singer Jeff Healey dying of cancer at age 41 the other day. He had a rare cancer that made him blind. He was in the movie with Patrick, Road House. He was the blind singer in the movie. I have two of his CD’s. Damned good singer.
Charlie Sheen?
Great Red Dawn memories.
There will be no cure for cancer. More and more it appears the origins of cancer have bacterial/viral roots. Some are environmental (smoking, chemicals, etc) but in so many cancer tumors they are finding evidence of bacteria at the center of them that suggest other origins for those cancers.
Bottom line is that it will be impossible to eliminate all the triggers that can cause cancer.
Like everything else, it’s an engineering problem.
Ditto on Prayers! This is a shame!
Nah, C. Thomas Howell. The hate kept him warm.
Maybe even Erin Grey. MEOW!
