I forgot!

Did you see that cartoon with a bunch of Rhinos (RINOS) under a coat with an elephant head on it?

The sad state of the party just kills me right now!

That was my first thought on starting to read this thread and not seeing it expressed until your post. Glad you did, even if it's not exactly PC to say so.

The most important chapter in R2S is the one called "Why the Worst Get on Top." It blows away the myth that if we just had the right people in charge, everything would run like clockwork in a nationalized economy.

Won't happen, because the Evil Ones invariably displace the do-gooders.

Rather than wasting precious time trying to put "good people" at the monster machine's controls, we need to disable the controls and/or destroy the machine. We need to do everything possible to make a U-turn once that fateful road Hayek describes is taken. Not go slower, not apply the brakes, but turn plumb around and head back.

But then again how many conservatives even claim to be republican now?

Did you mean for that to be phrased the other way around, i.e., how many Republicans claim to be conservative?

Offhand, I'd guess there's more of them than there were a few years ago. Whether that means anything is open to debate, though, since "conservative" has come to mean "Bushbot" to much of the world at large.

Or create a new place where the machine doesn’t yet exist.

I don’t know if it’s possible anymore though. The planet has become much smaller.

Sending out a call to all Democrats to READ THIS PIECE!
