Far left ready to blow the lid off the Democratic convention, maybe literally

Hysterical wingnut overreaction to the “Re-create ‘68!” jackassery that’s percolating in some leftist circles? Indeed, if you count HuffPo among the hysterical wingnuts. Hope and Change from the mailbag of lefty author Rick Perlstein:

Rick, if the Machine tries to give the Clintons the victory at the convention, I swear to God, Chicago’s going to look like a Sadie Hawkins dance. People my age are going to be throwing stones. We all have transportation — cell phones — disposable income — the Internet — free time — and Seattle as our example. Part of me is scared of a riot. Part of me isn’t. The nomination belongs to Obama. Do you think we’re going to let the Democratic Leadership Council take it? “God gave Noah the rainbow sign. No more water, fire next time.”

And:

Not to mention that there’s going to be a significant Iraq veteran contingent at the convention, ready to rock ‘n’ roll. We’ve already had planning meetings about it — we’re going about it the same way that we would plan any decent military operation.

Put it this way: if she goes for the gold in Denver, she’ll have to claim the medal somewhere other than the Pepsi Center.

And:

I can’t emphasize enough how potentially scary things could get — we’ve got folks working on the inside of the convention, and it’s all done on a cell basis, so that folks only know what they need to know.

I’m trying to keep everyone calm, as I just mentioned, but it’s getting harder and harder to do so.

Exit question: First the Times Square bombing, now this. How does Rove do it?

Update: Hard feelings are all but certain:

If black voters who have supported Obama think he lost the nomination because the rules of the contest were unfairly changed, the backlash could be damaging, some civil rights activists said.

“You would be changing the rules after you’ve had the contest,” the Rev. Al Sharpton said. “In Michigan, Obama’s name wasn’t even on the ballot. Clearly, if the name of the candidate who’s getting the African American vote isn’t on the ballot, that encourages many to stay home. . . . It would be a tremendous insult to the voters of this country.”

An Obama victory could split the party in a different way. Like Clinton, the Illinois senator is likely to need the votes of Democratic superdelegates — party activists and elected officials who are free to back any candidate. Suspicion among Clinton voters that Obama courted superdelegates through backroom deals could upset female and Latino voters loyal to the former first lady.

Somehow the MSM will put the blame on the repubs. (don't ask me how). I can see McCain apologizing now.

Many forget that a sideshow also looms on seating the Michigan and Florida delegates. If the Dems don't get their do overs before the convention expect a tantrum as only the left can give us. I expect the delegations will crash the convention, only adding more fuel to the Hillary Obama fight.

My advice to law enforcement is to contain the whole circus and arrest the survivors. I sure don't want to see any police injured in this.

We will have tons of “The Party Of Peace My Eye” pictures after it's all over. Enough to last decades.

“...I would love to see a wild dem convention but I don’t think they’re that stupid...”

I had gotten out of the Navy and I saw what happened in the 60s and yes, they WOULD be that stupid. Those people are nutjobs no doubt, they can also be dangerous. Like in ‘68 police will escalate tbe force level continuumto to the “no negotiation” level, as they should when rioting breaks out.

Many of the Iraq “vets” served in very secure areas such as Striker and others, not going outside “the wire” on combat patrol. Our son is able to stop at large bases while on combat patrol on occasion (he has two combat tours over there—and counting...) and he was amazed at the total lack of “getting it” among some soldiers that should know better. They beat their chests like Rambos but had never fired or experienced a shot fired in anger. Amazing. Amazing that they can be so disloyal to their fellow soldiers/Marines.

You know, I saw the worst riot in American history first hand. It’s not a pretty thing. People die, people lose businesses and homes. Police are injured and taxpayer dollars go up in smoke. Let’s hope this doesn’t happen.

Don’t ask you how? LOL—we KNOW how: they’ll insist that the Republicans should (for some insane reason that will make sense only to them) have paid for the do-over. They’ll blame Rush for telling people to vote for Hillary, they’ll blame Bush for...well, being Bush, they’ll blame Rove because obviously he will have planned the whole thing. And they’ll make all these claims with a straight face, and the MSM will dutifully report it as fact.

;)

Also, to them it’s not stupid. It’s their whole purpose in life.

Obama and his Chicago mob backers want to win. Hillary and her Dixie Mafia want to win. Both factions want power. Winning is job number one for both of them. Neither is going to give an inch for the good of the party until this is decided.

Their backers may pull together against the Republicans after only one of them is left standing, but certainly they aren’t going to concede until this stage of the war is over.

It would be great to see this happen, but I've tuned into the last couple of ANSWER anti-war demonstrations on C-Span, and I doubt it.

When the cameras (accidentally) zoom out to show the whole crowd, it's like a class B high school pep rally.

I f the demonstrations in Chicago '68 had been that size they could have been held in a Republican alderman's office.

My guess would be Detroit. They still haven’t cleaned up the mess from the 60’s there.

That is what I was thinking. Wasn’t the LA Rodney King a close second?

“I don’t believe the DNC has the power to head this off. Dr. Dean has tried already to no avail.

Neither Hillary nor Obama is going to give an inch.

There Will be Blood.

I just hope the Mayor of Denver is smart enough to keep his police department out of it and let the factions have at each other.”

And, like Katrina, somehow GWB will be blamed. LOL

“Wasn’t the LA Rodney King a close second?”

Not even in the ballpark of the Detroit riots 40 years ago.

They went on for months.

This is an election cycle that sucks. We got stuck with the candidate nobody wanted, let them get stuck with the same raw deal. Can’t think of a better way do do in the two party system.
