As a first-generation American, raised in the 1950s, I am intimate with the difference between ethnicity and character and the prejudices that span it.
We had to EARN the confidence of our neighbors. It wasn’t granted to us by politically correct fiat.
My prejudice against the Arabs stems mostly from their abject hatred of the Jews and especially of Israel, even among the Arab “Christians”, but most especially among the Moslems, who constitute the vast majority of them, and the extraordinary measures they take to express that hatred, specifically targetting women and children to amplify the “terror” aspect of their misanthropic mischief.
No other ethnic/religious group can claim the distinction of having killed over 3000 Americans on American soil in the span of just two hours.

You pretend to psychoanalyze me based on the words I use, not having ever met me, nor spoken to me, knowing absolutely nothing about me beyond the constraints of a few replies I made in this one-dimensional medium.
In my experience, namecalling and amateur psychoanalysis, given nothing upon which to base any diagnosis, are what I typically find in responses coming from the Left.

It's pretty funny to see you flail around like this and play the victim. Especially after you were so quick to whine about arabs. Here's a hint snoogums, I know plenty of lebanese, Christian or otherwise, and they're better people than you'll *ever* be.

Your general’s income is substantially enhanced, perhaps geometrically, by going out on the paid speech circuit second-guessing foreign policy in American-hating gulags like Berkeley. Having been given a place of high privilege, access to sensitive information, and a sacred trust to protect that information, he is now violating that trust by using his privileged position to increase his wealth, even though the information he has is dated at best and probably inaccurate for the situation in Iraq as it exists today, since he is no longer privvy to the current stream of sensitive information there.
Here’s another fact for you.
On 9-11-2001, there were thousands upon thousands of people of Middle Eastern extraction dancing in the streets celebrating the murders of thousands of Americans on their own soil.
Not only were they celebrating in the Middle East, they were celebrating in the predominantly Middle-Eastern neighborhoods of Patterson and Newark, NJ. I know a retired NJ policeman who was called back to duty to provide cover for the riotous celebrations in these cities, while much of the full-time force were in NYC helping at the WTC.
Not all of them participated in the celebrations, you may say, but where are the condemnations of such revelry in the pain of others from their spiritual and community leaders?
Abizaid spoke at my university as well, but unfortunately I had a math midterm at the same time so I couldn’t go. I did, however, get a chance to listen to Tahir al-Bakaa, the ex-Iraqi minister of education, speak and tell us about the military progress in Iraq and that withdrawing prematurely is a bad idea.

People who use big words to sound smart rather than convey meaning are insecure. Fact.
People who brag about how much money they make are even more insecure. Fact.
People who are envious of others(i.e. You of General Abizaid) despite their "six figure incomes" are insecure to the point of personality disorder. Fact.
So we've established conclusively with "facts" that you're an insecure loser. Puts your ignorance and bigotry into perspective doesn't it? I only regret that you must be passing on your deficient character and ignorance to your children.

I don't expect any problems as they really don't publicize this lecture except to their mailing/email list.
Chester Nimitz pays for this and he even gives us a little reception afterwards.

David Farrah has proven himself, indeed, and I yield to your well taken point.
However, the overwhelming preponderance of ethnic and cultural Arabs, whatever the religion or lack thereof, exhibits a wanton and unabashed hatred for Israel and Jewry. Hence my prejudicial distrust of them as a matter of precaution.
That does not mean that individuals, such as David Farrah, cannot earn my respect and trust. There is also the Lebanese Christian lady, Brigitte Gabrielle, who wrote Obsession, Radical Islam's War against the West.
If I remember correctly, in her book, she contrasts her treatment at the hands of Lebanese Moslems and her treatment in a Jewish hospital in Israel. The irony of the stark contrast between the humanitarian outlook of the Israeli Jews as a people and the misanthropic outlook of her own countrymen was not lost on her.
As for general Abizaid, he has shown himself untrustworthy by commenting about the conduct of a war in wartime using sensitive, albeit dated, information he was privileged to receive in the confidence of his government.

One thing I want to add about the general is that he betrayed the sacred trust of his government for money and self aggrandizement, and his betrayal scores points for our enemies and the political opposition, even as the distinction between our enemies and the political opposition continues to diminish.

I though Abezaid’s presentation was ok. Kind of general and deliberately uncontroversial. He seemed like an ok guy and very career military. I just love the event overall. All the military folks and the weighty subject matter right there in Goofyland (and I say that as a proud Golden Bear). I had never been to the Faculty Club before, either, so I enjoyed the reception too. I got there a bit late as I needed to run an errand between the lecture and the reception. But there was still plenty of food!
Please let me know if you’ll be there Thursday.
I think they keep this series deliberately low-key and under-publicized so there won't be many crazies there.

We are trying to figure out how to get there TH. DH doesn't get off until later and I really don't know how close BART is to the Art Museum. Another friend might come with us as he did last night so I could catch a ride with him if he comes. We'll see.
I have been to several events at Cal that were disrupted by leftists, but this Nimitz lecture series seems to get spared. I think this is because of the low profile and also due to the presence of so many military types.
Orange jumpsuit guy was funny and even funnier was Gen. Abezaid’s reaction. I don’t know if OJSG intended to say or do something more once he got up front but the General stood his ground and looked pretty much ready for anything.
I live in S.F. and take BART when I go to Berkeley. It’s one block from the Downtown Berkeley station up Center St. to the edge of campus and then it’s a short, pleasant walk across to Bancroft Street. It takes about 15 minutes altogether to walk from the train to the Berkeley Art Museum, and about ten minutes back to BART from the Faculty Club.
I wondered about the chick all dressed in pink as well, but she seemed to just want to escape.
DH told me not to wear pink which I frequently do.

I’ve lived in SF for 3 years but never find out about these things until after they happen. Is there a ping list or something?
Rogue Yam informed us of this lecture series last year. Mark Steyn was speaking for free and Adm Nimitz even fed us, what more could you ask for.
As you know from living here for three years there aren't many opportunities like this. The Nimitz Lecture occurs annually in March. Remember that for next year.
