your rants against McCAIN don't make you a conservative and you certainly aren't a Reagan Conservative as your tactics are disgusting and far from his approach to politics. Further more your ranting won't do anything to stop liberalism especially the way you do it as you only say you are right and everyone who disagrees with you is wrong and evil.

Ahhhh... so YOU are questioning MY conservatism. More of the McCain Charm Police again?

I posted no rants. I did not call you or anyone else any names. I didn't insult anyone who had a different opinion than mine by calling them "wrong" or "evil." I did joke with an old-time-freeper-friend of mine about a "rabble-rousing, name calling, scratch-claw-and-punch, all-out brawl?" Certainly, you didn't take that seriously?

Then you go off into the world of conspiracy theories etc, etc.

I DID? Could you tell me the post #, since I don't believe I posted such a thing. What world conspiracy was that?

The discussion was about Rove and what he brings to the table for McCAINS Campaign not all this silly teenage like nonsense you bring to this discussion.

"Silly teenager like nonsense?" Please show me that post, too. What did I post that you think is "nonsense"? That the team McCain said he would rely on in 2000 was made up of a bunch of liberal democrats? (Kerry, Kerrey, Biden, Brzezinski, Kissinger, Lugar, Hagel). That it is difficult to get the electorate excited when the platform of the (R) looks just like the other guys'?

But you say the same crap no matter what the thread is supposed to be about.

You obviously know nothing about my posts.

Isn’t it amazing how the McCain liberal RINO apologists come here to campaign? They tell us how they don’t need out vote, but we are “not conservative” because we won’t support McCain.
If he doesn’t need our vote, then why the hell are they all here trying to win votes? I’m just about fed up with OnRiver and his/her ilk.

Sorry for the delayed response--I didn't see your post earlier.

I know what you’re saying. Let’s stand firm. Give them this election...and then come back hard in 2012 when the liberals have screwed things up...

Actually, that's not what I said, at all.

I still think we can influence McCain to succeed.

You and I will have to disagree on that one.

Terrorism is the most important thing right now... The economy too...

Terrorism and the economy are definitely important, but those should not be the only focus. I suggest you also look to our sovereignty and independence and add those to the list. McCain, who wants to close Guantanamo and make us subject to international courts, wants waterboarding eliminated, and during his last run said he would rely on a bunch of liberal democrats to help him work on foreign policy is not going to be any kind of saviour on terrorism (nor are hillary/obama). As to the economy, McCain is clueless. His statements have been all over the board about tax cuts ("for the rich"). His advisors are incompetents (Carly Fiorina????). I even saw a youtube video wherein McCain was asked about Bernanke's performance--McCain said he'd like to see interest rates at ZERO! The man has no clue as to what he's talking about--how can he be expected to make proper decisions if he doesn't understand the fundamentals? Add to this his embrace of the marxist driven global warming hoax, and his arrogant position relative to illegal aliens, and you'll see this country move faster to the left and cause more change than under FDR. Call it the McCain NewDealism. No thanks! I want to fight these #%@%#$%#$'s, and with McCain as leader we will only be silenced.

You look at the first 100 days for Obama and Hillary and you’re looking at the beginning of the fall of the roman empire...

You look at the first 100 days for McCain and I contend it could easily be worse. (I offer Arnold Schwarzenegger as proof of this contention)

Why was my post #153 deleted?

Is exposing someone’s past trollish behavior not allowed? I pointed out Reagan bashing, Rush bashing, Coulter bashing, etc. and now said poster is going to taunt me with 4 words from my deleted post?

Why not just let the record stand as it was and reinstate the full post?

None of us on this forum are totally happy with McCain, but until we get a truly conservative to run, I think we back the republican candidate.

I remember the Carter years vividly. An Obama or Hillary presidency will be ten times worse.

Look--I have not challenged anyone's decision to vote for McCain. It is their vote. However, I would hope we could all be honest enough to tell the truth about what we are facing. To say that McCain is a conservative (top 12%?) is simply not true. To say that McCain won't push again for an amnesty (under whatever name) is simply not credible. To say that McCain will appoint strict constructionist judges goes against actions and statements he consistently made prior to his most recent campaign. To not recognize that McCain champions some of the most destructive environmental programs is like sticking your head in the sand. Etc. etc. etc.

Whether McCain, or Hillbama, we are going to have a centrist-to-liberal president come November. We better be prepared to fight the liberalism coming out of the White House or we are all cooked! Also, when McCain has control of the Party apparatus, how much support do you think your local state party is going to get for electing conservatives (or moderates, for that matter)? Should we not plan for that inevitablity, or should we wait until 2010 after the internal structure of the party has been moved even farther to the left?

You see, I don't see November 5 as the end of the game. I also don't think that a McCain "win" is a win for conservatism or the platform of the existing party. The fight has only begun. What will you do when President McCain formally lays out a platform for closing Guantanamo? Will you support him because he is your party's President--or will you oppose it on principle? What will you do when President McCain introduces a new multi-billion dollar program to fight global warming or announces his support for the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea? Will you support it, or will you fight it? What will you do when the McCain camp rewrites the party platform in November and you realize that you now only support 20% of his big-government "National Greatness" policies? What then?

Support of your party's candidate is fine--but what would it take for some to realize that the party has been taken over by people that do not represent the same ideas upon which that party has operated for several decades?

Many of us in California have just lived through this for the last 5 years since electing Arnold Schwarzenegger as our governor. He has accomplished more for LIBERALISM than any Democrat could have dreamed of. He has destroyed the Republican party apparatus, leaving it totally incapable of assisting any conservative (or Republican) campaign this fall. Economically, the man is clueless and embraces many of the same environmental policies as Al Gore (much like McCain). For the first several years, all we Californians heard from the "pragmatic" bunch was why we still had to support our so-called Republican governor because he was better than the (D). Sound familiar?

Vote as you see fit--but please, open your eyes and recognize what you are voting for, what the next 4-8 years might bring, and plan accordingly. And please, don't gripe about those of us that are looking beyond November 5th.

Well Said calcowgirl....well said.

But I am not so sure that McCain’s or Obama’s Victory in just the beginning...

Us conservatives are but a small voice now....no one wants to listen to us anymore....we have lost our credibility for the crime of early on support of Bush.

I’m seeing on too many formums a growing support for OBAMA.....and he makes Hillary look conservative.

Either way, America and its sheeple will lose.

Calcowgirl, you rang that bell so loud, I could hear it here in Delaware!

Thank you for your clarity. The experience in CA is exactly what we will face with McCain. We went through the same thing when I lived in NJ with Christine Todd Whitman, who must be giving Ahnold lessons.

I don’t understand why more conservatives are just willing to be rolled for McCain. The convention is not until September. That’s a lifetime in politics. He is the PRESUMPTIVE nominee, not the nominee yet.

This is the last time we will have a seat at the GOP table, between now and September. After the convention it will not matter if McCain becomes the nominee. This is the last time conservatives will be able to influence the GOP before it commits political hari-kari with the Manchurian Candidate.

McCain, Hillary, Obama—no difference except in degree.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is whistling past the graveyard.

LOL. I got a little fired up. :-)

I've never looked closely at her record, but I've heard some stories as to the similarities. There is a whole group of them. Most seem to be either "Main Street Republicans" or part of the "Third Way" movement. They operate from similar playbooks.

As to the 3rd Way,, It is not a Reich movement per se, but pretending to be things one is not and playing a Progressive and preying on others fears and dreams when doing so is pretty low in my book.. at least I can fight a varmint democRat and worry about jabs in the arse from one of my “My Friends”.

While I have many independent friends who I dearly love, what you just wrote is the one reason I've continued to be a member of the Republican Party, despite the scorn and prejudices I'm subjected to here in a land of Democratic plurality. At some point I may have to shoot the (RINO-cerous), and that time may be soon, but for now I shall continue to be a thorn in the side of each and every RINO.
