Chapel Hill, N.C. — Police asked for help identifying a man in surveillance pictures whom they want to question in connection with the killing of Eve Carson, 22, a senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Lt. Kevin Gunter, a spokesman for the Chapel Hill Police Department, called the man a suspect after the press conference Saturday morning. Police Chief Bill Curran described the photos as “the biggest break” and “strongest lead” in the case yet.
Two photographs show a black man in his late teens or early 20s. He is riding in a sport-utility vehicle with a roof rack that might have been Carson's. Officers emphasized they did not definitively know if the vehicle belonged to Carson.

Investigators said Carson, 22, had been shot in the right temple, the Associated Press reported Friday.
There is a $25,000 reward out for those who can help lead to this butcher’s arrest. I bet they will know who he is within the hour.

He doesn’t look like a usual street thug to me,,he looks sort of like a kid from a middle class family.

I used to know a Chapel Hill cop. He often said most of their problems come down 15-501. This one probably did as well.

Looks like the gangbanger made her give him the PIN to her ATM card and promised not to kill her.
Once she gave him the number, he shot her in the head and dumped her from the car and then went to the ATM machine to “get paid.”

Well the police called is a “ball cap” so I think it is a ball cap like was posted above....not a hard hat.

I am so amazed at FR,,you see a hat in a grainy photo and people pop up who know what it is. I never thought of a baseball cap let alone would have been able to id it.
Hope the cops have some sports fans who would know it.

Whose tragedy gets the most coverage?
LOoks like an afro pony tail.
If anybody is watching the Wire, there is a character who wears his hair like that.
Imagine that lovely girl, shot over cash.
What made me curious is there was no id so he must have taken her wallet.
He didn’t want any witnesses placing both him and her at the ATM.
His defense lawyer will say that she was already dead when he found the car and her ATM card and that there were no witnesses that showed her in his cutody or him pulling the trigger.
Yes, the police have not recovered her wallet or the car keys.

Police Have Suspect in UNC Killing

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Detectives are searching for a man videotaped using the ATM card of the University of North Carolina student body president who was shot to death and dumped on a city street, police said Saturday.
Chapel Hill Police Chief Brian Curran released two surveillance photos of the suspect taken at an ATM machine in Chapel Hill, but declined to say when the photos were taken. Police also released a photo of a baseball cap the suspect appears to be wearing in both of the surveillance pictures.
“This is our biggest break so far in this case,” Curran said.
Eve Carson, 22, was found Wednesday morning on a street not far from campus. She had been shot several times, including once in the right temple, and her body was found lying in the street.
Her truck was discovered Thursday, hours after police identified Carson as the shooting victim.
Curran said police have circulated the picture with police departments in North Carolina, hoping their officers might be able to identify the suspect. The ATM photos show a young man in a baseball cap and hooded sweat shirt driving a sport utility vehicle that may be Carson’s Toyota Highlander, Curran said.
Carson appears to be the victim of a random crime, Curran said.

Very sad. We had a neighbor shot in the head by a 12 year old who was trying to take her purse. She wouldn’t let go,,I mean he was a kid, little, puny. ANd he killed her. 18 dollars in her purse I do believe.

Of course, there is little hope of real justice here since NC has halted all death penalty executions.
And the libs in Chapel Hill are strong sponsors of the “anti deathpenalty” moves in the NC Dem party....because too man African Americans are “victims” of the death penalty (commit more capital crimes).
Maybe if they call this a “hate crime”, the libs might be forced to reinstate the deathpenalty.....just joking.
(Yes, I know the halt to the death penalty is about the NC Medical association not being willing to have doctors at the executions....
Still, if street thugs KNEW they would face IMMINENT DEATH for such crimes, we would see these crimes STOP or at least significantly decrease!!!! For a long long time there has been no real justice in America because justice delayed....is no justice at all.

They say Eve Carson often went to an office (not sure where) early in the mornings or during the nights. It’s possible this thug knew her habits and was hoping to get lucky. Or he may just have come upon her car....carjacked her.....got the atm card and info, and as you say shot her and dumped her body.
The reports were that several shots were fired at least 3 maybe 4 - so it’s possible he shot her more than just in the temple but the police are keeping that quiet pending their interrogation of the murderer.
By the way the police in Alabama already have their suspect in that student’s slaying in custody.
