GOP Rep (Steve King): Al Qaeda Will 'Dance' If Obama Wins
CBS 2 CHICAGO ^ | 09 MARCH 2008 | AP

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) ― An Iowa Republican congressman said that terrorists would be "dancing in the streets" if Democratic candidate Barack Obama were to win the presidency. An Obama spokesman said such comments "have no place in our politics."

U.S. Rep. Steve King based his prediction on Obama's pledge to pull troops out of Iraq, his Kenyan heritage and his middle name, Hussein.

"The radical Islamists, the al Qaeda ... would be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on Sept. 11 because they would declare victory in this war on terror," King said in an interview Friday with the Daily Reporter in Spencer.

King said his comments were not meant to demean Obama but to warn how an Obama presidency would look to the world.

"His middle name does matter," King said. "It matters because they read a meaning into that."

The Illinois senator, born in Hawaii to a white Kansas woman and a Kenyan man, is a Christian and has said he has little connection to the Islamic religion, though he acknowledges he spent part of his childhood in largely Muslim Indonesia.

In criticizing King, Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said, "These comments have no place in our politics." He called on John McCain, the apparent Republican nominee, to "repudiate them like he has previous offensive comments from his supporters."

Last month, McCain denounced an introduction from Cincinnati talk-show host Bill Cunningham, who referred to Obama three times as "Barack Hussein Obama."

We used pretty much the same argument against Kerry.

Uh-oh, Senator Mccain better break out the kneepads, as he’ll be groveling at the alter of Obama.

Hey gang, the middle name bit gives Republicans all of the respect due to a 3rd grade bully.

Get off of the petty crap and stick to the issues.

As I suggested yesterday, McCain’s only response should be:
“The terrorists will NOT be happy if I am elected President!”

If it results in a McCain victory in November, or even the GOP retaking one or both houses of Congress (both highly unlikely) then it is OK.

Rep. King is right. The terrorists celebrated the Democrat takeover of Congress in 2006. They will equally celebrate a Democrat victory in November.

No kidding. How does McCain possibly think he can win if he doesn't even bother campaigning?

I see no reason why McCain should condemn Rep. King, as what he says is 100% correct. Heck, Obama himself said as soon as he takes over he will surrender.

McCain blinked - and they're gonna use that on him from here on out.

"These comments have no place in our politics."

Yes, they do. Particularly when they're plainly true.

He called on John McCain, the apparent Republican nominee, to "repudiate them like he has previous offensive comments from his supporters."

I'm sure McCain will gleefully throw another truth-teller under the bus for HUSSEIN Obama.

I would dare say this is a brilliant strategy for the Democrat party. Have the GOP nominee criticize other members of the GOP. That approach will save the Democrats millions on having to do it themselves.

We are so screwed.

Agreed. Of course, I saw no reason for McCain to throw Bill Cunningham and John Hagee under the bus...but he did all the same; to appease Hussein Obama.

Funny how McCain deems it necessary to rebuke those conservatives and evangelicals while Hussein Obama does nothing to rebuke Nation of Islam's own Louis Farrakhan. That in itself speaks huge volumes about how things are going to go in this election cycle.

'Course...this is what happens when you send a RINO to do a Republican's job.

Of course. The liberals know that nothing gets between McCain and his Democrat masters.

Barack Hussein Obama's middle name IS part of the equation. Barack has been very clear that he has no intention on taking on our greatest enemy of this century. He does have a muslim background that obviously is clouding his judgment as to what to do with our enemy. Our enemy is radical Islam. He is going to talk to them. He is going to hold a summit with them. I want a President that is going to deal with every radical Islamaniac on THEIR level.

ISLAM means SUBMIT! Radical Islam has a call:

FIRST THE SATURDAY PEOPLE, THEN THE SUNDAY PEOPLE.

These people will not rest until Sharia law is instituted on the entire earth.

If anything, going down in a landslide defeat will help to dispel the idea that the GOP can win by running to the left of Communist Party.

Why do you persist in believing that 3rd grade tactics will have a positive result?

We are NOT that desperate!

We have real facts and substantive issues to win on, and the playground tactics only detract from that, because then the opposition can point to that and avoid responding to the issues.

So go ahead and vote for the communists, cuz that’ll help....

You anti-McCainiacs are unbelievable!

You persist in telling us what you’re not going to do, without presenting any solutions!

Sounds like standard liberal politics!

Why do you persist in believing that 3rd grade tactics will have a positive result?

Because it works. Reagan routinely called liberals out on their BS and was hugely successful in getting his agenda passed by an often hostile Congress. Reagan would routinely use mockery as a weapon to great success.

Contrast this to the past 7 years of George W. Bush telling everyone how he loves to work with certain Democrats, and look where that got us.

This is an election, not a essay writing contest, if dirty tricks result in conservatives making some kind of political comeback in 2008, then so be it. Preserving this great country, at least for me, is more important than playing "fair."

Becuase they are not tactics, it's reality. A man running for POTUS is named Baracka Hussan Obama and Al Qaeda would love to have him take office.

You see no difference between 3rd grade tactics and embracing your enemy?

Stick to the facts and the issues!
There are key distinctions to be made and if you stay focused on those differences it is more diffuclt for the opposition to dismiss you.
