DEERFIELD, IL, March 7, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Deerfield High School, in Deerfield, Illinois, is offering the books "Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes" (Part One & Two) - laced with graphic sexual content, including gay sex, pervasive expletives, religious denigration and mockery - in English classes this spring.
The books contain graphic descriptions of sodomy heretofore only heard of in hardcore homosexual pornography. With numerous uses of the 'f' word and vulgar sexual references to Mother Teresa, the Mother of Jesus, and God.
"After almost 15 years of school advocacy and reviewing many objectionable books and curricula, I have never seen anything this vulgar and harmful to students," says Lora Sue Hauser, Executive Director of North Shore Student Advocacy. "Parents, taxpayers and concerned citizens must force themselves to read these excerpts, as horrific as they are, so you know what kids are being exposed to. The school justifies this egregious choice because of its themes of hope. Evidently, all great literature with themes of hope have already been exhausted so teachers need to start offering pornography. We say - enough."
North Shore Student Advocacy (NSSA), an organization to help parents and students when they run into problems in public schools, was made aware of these books last fall when a parent complained. The books were part of required reading until NSSA filed a formal complaint with the school, asking the books to be reviewed by committee.
The committee decided to remove the books from required reading, but continued to offer them in the classroom as an optional title. "Optional Title," according to the principal, means that the student may select the books to study with peers and be guided by the adult, male teacher. A parental permission slip will be required, but without full disclosure of the sexually explicit content. This conclusion is unacceptable to the complaining parent and to NSSA. They are asking that this pornographic book be removed from curriculum completely.
The State's Attorney's office of Lake County, Illinois, deemed the books "obscene" according to Illinois obscenity laws, violating the "distributing harmful materials to minors" statute. However, state and federal obscenity laws exempt schools and libraries under "affirmative defense," giving the school and teachers involved near immunity.

The complicity of the government school defenders and the assistance of so-called “good” and Christian government teachers in supporting, aiding, abetting this Death Eating evil MAKES ME SICK!
Actually the Deerfield story was about a student who wanted to read that play and teacher of that class getting permission to read and discuss this AIDS related subject/award winning literary work (to some, so becomes controversial) in class and they went the route of permission to do so as controversial to some. Depends on how you read the play-it is not about voyeurism as someone has projected XXX Rate video/bookstore photo above. Deerfield told parents of this one English class before the play was read by that student- Angels in America.
There is more to Angels in America than being just a "paperback romance type novel"(-have you seen what women writers say in these things?). It will remain a controversy, just like Catcher In The Rye..even though Angels in America is not considered as shocking at this timeframe in Western society, but it still brings out the same bookburners.
Guide your children as long as you can, but love them always.

The mistake conservatives make is that we go into battle believing that there are ground rules to the battle and that we have an honorable opponent. That is exactly what we don’t have. The left wins battles through keeping the debate outside of its objectives. There is no benefit to us to play the game by the rules of the left. The key to turning back the tide of gay activism is children. Teenage males who become sexually active in the homosexual lifestyle have a very high mortality rate. The whole idea that coming out is a positive thing is factually untrue. The chances of an individual catching a serious disease skyrocket as do the number of sexual partners. Yet we are encouraged to turn a blind eye to what is still a very ugly subculture.
What can I say. People don’t read and people don’t care to research. It is easier to think of your gay friends and pretend they live life just as you do. They don’t, I know personally of that truth. A friend of mine has serious medical problems because of the lifestyle he got caught up in and another ended up dead. There is no compassion in pretend.
It is a symptom of the modern world that so much that is accepted as common knowledge is popular fiction. So many pleasantries are really veiled horrors that keep us faithless and keep us chained.
If we don't act soon, all freedom will be lost when the next generation of government school indoctrinated Marxists go to the voting booth!

You have correctly pointed out that the homosexual/liberal/Marxist coalition does not fight fair.

Good Lord. I didn’t care for Angels in America but it sure sounds like the author didn’t actually bother to read the play.
Its about Ray Cohn,chief counsel to the Government Committee on Operations of the Senate - he is one McCarthy’s key henchmen, condemned by the Senate for unethical behavior in coordination with McCarthy.
In other sources Cohn is “a Jew who persecuted Jews; a gay who persecuted gays.”
Cohn’s protege is Mormon and there is a fair amount of commentary there.
In the HBO mini-series version Cohn is played by Al Pacino.
Cohn eventually dies of aids and the play has a lot to do with how AIDs was not taken seriously soon enough.
It broke the record held by Roots for most Emmy’s. The play itself has won dozens of awards
Roots had a lot of controversial subject matter too but we didn’t hide it from kids.
That said, I didn’t like the play or the mini-series but it is clearly a real work of literature that should not be censored. The teacher, Jeff Berger White and the rest of the faculty claim they followed all normal protocal and even recieved the parents permission.
I think that is probably true. The left in general seems to have a great disdain for innocence. It is not that we are flawed and should aspire to greatness but instead that we are flawed and should aspire to be nothing more which is the emptiness of their mission. Also within the Homosexual community there is a history of predatory behavior that is disregarded. Most homosexual men began their journey being molested or accosted by older men. When you look at family histories of homosexuality it often can be tied not as much to genetics as it is to the fact that the family has a hidden darkness of molestation within it.
It is not a coincidence that homosexuals account for nearly a third of all molestations. What is horrible is the very activism that claims to free the homosexual to be themselves also traps them so they can never address the abuse they faced as a child with the high likelihood that they will contribute to the abuse of others in their attempt to deal with the abuse they faced. That is the horrible secret. A whole class of people are trapped in a hell built with a wall of compassion. It is horrible but that is the way of evil. It seeks to trap us. It is no different for the poor in the inner cities who are trapped in the hell of never making enough money to thrive and always having to rely on government while they are steeped in bitterness and anger which guarantees they will live a life of subservience perpetually nursing their wounds that are never allowed to heal.

That would likely help the publisher of the play and the mini-series based on the play more than anything you could possibly do. Trying to put people in jail for teaching a play that has won so many awards that is about McCarthy’s chief henchman would be so ironic it would get world wide press and would be labeled all over the world as intolerance of freer speech and thought.
I guess you’d have to arrest Al Pacino too and prosecute HBO for making and showing the mini-series.
I’m afraid this is a case where whoever started this didn’t actually read the play or learn what it was about. You won’t help anything for prosecuting people for teaching a play about a secretly gay man who worked for McCarthy..since its true.

The ALA (American Library Ass.) demands the exemption to give any materials to anyone in the lie-brary that requests them regardless of age. So while an NC-17 movie or issue of Playboy may not be sold to a minor by a retailer, the lefty librarians want to be able to provide such materials to your kids. There is no arguing with them over whether this policy is "wrong", they insist that you prohibit your kids from going to the library if it means so much to you. Why is there a legal exemption for librarians?

Actually, it is an indication of the spirit that moves them ... Satan and his demons hate people like Mother Teresa and especially the Mother of Our Lord. As Jesus taught, it is what comes up out of the heart that defiles, and cursing The Mother of Our Lord defiles the person. Cursing the humble spirit of Mother Teresa defiles the man (see Christopher Hitchens).
