Aggressive Policing Turns Muslims To Terrorism (The Misunderstood and Oppressed Religion of Peace)
AP ^ | March 10, 2008 | AP

A study from the Global Terrorism Research Centre at Monash University suggests that Australia's approach to stopping terrorism might actually be encouraging it.

Waleed Aly from the centre says the aggressive police approach is alienating young Muslim men, who may be more likely to turn to radical groups as a result.

He says a community-based approach may be more effective than a hardline approach.

"The problem is that as we repeat that [hardline] approach, what we actually end up doing is exacerbating the problem," he told tonight's Four Corners program."

Makes sense to me. If attacked, we must never retaliate, never use force, never even challenge the enemy, less our actions lead to radicalizing of the [perpetual] peaceful Muslims and "compel" them through our inconsiderate actions into becoming Islamofacist, terroristic, murdering, supremacist.

Better that we as a predominantly Christian Nation, adhere to the imperative that when we are attacked, turn the other cheek--to give the Moozies a better angle in which to smite our necks.

As an aside, rumors that Waleed Aly is a Christian, White, European, Male, Islamaphobe; is bias and therefore, cannot be trusted in his evaluating or reporting on all things Muslim, has been discredited.

untitled

Aly, in fact, is a Melbourne lawyer, a member of the Islamic Council of Victoria Executive in Good Standing, and is also a lecturer in the Global Terrorism Research Centre at Monash Univeristy. Therefore, based on the aforementioned, we can rest assured that Aly would NEVER mislead anyone regarding the Religion of Peace and his observations and scholarly admonitions must necessarily be accepted as verity.

My suggestion is that we should all walk up the nearest mountain top, hold hands, and repeat the peaceful overture as depicted in the Coca Cola 1974 Commercial: "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing In Perfect Harmony."

coke.story.cnn

I'd like to buy the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees
And snow white turtle doves.

Ain’t It Grand

Let’s all hold hands now and sing Cumbaya and we call live peacefully ever after.

While many we here in the U.S., are lulled into thinking that this Islamofacism is not real or a threat, based on the continual propaganda and De Nile by Muslims, here and abroad, not too mention, most within our own Guvmint asceding to their every whim and demand as well as continually trying to brainswashing us into believing we are at war with ONLY "Radical Islam," we must not buy into this falacy.

We MUST fight this EVIL with every fiber of our being. It is much more dangerous than Socialism, Communism, Facism or Nazism ever was.

Also, many perceive [wrongly] that these Islamic attacks are primarily aimed at the eradication of all Jews, and not so much a concern to our survival. Were it so, it would nevertheless be in our best interest to cut of the head of this poisonous snake before it turned an attacked us as well.

Much as one of our great Statesmen (Ben Franklin) remarked when we were fighting for our independence: " We Shall All Hang Together Or Surely We Shall All Hang"

Whether one is a Republican-Democrat, Conservative- Liberal, White-Black, Young-Old, Male-Female, Straight-Gay, Whatever, we should remeber these prophetic words:

First They Came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.

Good find on the stupidity of the “sensitive” left.

Good find.

If you really are in Vermont, you are WAY behind enemy lines brother!

Carry on!

Well, we know 8 years of bending over and taking it (as Clinton did during his terms) didn’t work either.

adhere to the imperative that when we are attacked, turn the other cheek

Half the problem is that people believe that Christ commands us to turn the other cheek when attacked. Not so: a slap on the cheek was a deadly insult in (much of) the ancient world, but it's not a dangerous assault. Christians are encouraged to defend themselves.

Nothing new. I have an editorial from a newspaper from about twenty years ago which says virtually the same thing...we must not lower our standards to the terrorist’s level by fighting back.

Hogwash.

The left is stupid too. The death cultists are taught from birth to hate Christians and Jews, that life is worthless, that the only sure way to get to paradise is to kill Christians and Jews, then they are abused physically, sexually, morally, emotionally and mentally so that they grow up angry and full of self-loathing.
Agressive policing doesn’t cause terrorism. It reduces it by a small amount.

I'm REALLY (I'm sorry and ashamed to have to admit) from Vermont--Burlington.

While I lived among the "enemy" for 18 months in Nam, that little adventure pales in comparison with having to reside up here in this Socialist enclave.

Imagine if someone wrote an article claiming that aggressive policing of sexual assaults was turning men toward committing rape.

“Waleed Aly from the centre says the aggressive police approach is alienating young Muslim men, who may be more likely to turn to radical groups as a result.”

Wrong Aly. They chose to be alienated by refusing to adapt to Aussie culture and laws. Now by turning to radical groups they will be targeted more aggressively. Slow learners these Muslims.

Superb analogy. Or cracking down on drug dealers is promoting the increased sale of narcotics

As Rush is wont to remind us, using the absurd to point out the absurd.

I think the study is trying to make the point that they have a very repressed culture so putting upon them and treating them with suspicion and distrust tends to set them off, i.e., do more harm then good.

It's fair to say many people are repressed or insular in our own culture and we don't proactively go after them. That's certainly no way to get people to lighten up.

We should only go after the terrorists not the innocent. Oh, and you'll notice that the people of Iraq have paid a far higher price and bourne a much greater burden at the hands of Al Queada and Islamic terrorism then we have in the West. Be fair please.

Would you really advocate treating a billion people as if they were terrorists? That would be rediculous if not downright evil.

Well, there is something to be said for the idea that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, but I look at it this way. They started it.

Do you actually believe that police in Australia are rounding up Muslims and jailing them simply because they are Muslim? lol, Talk about drinking the cool aid. Is there any Islamic propaganda that you won't naively believe?

They don't need to put them in jail to alienate them and that's what is happening to them as the article points out. Hint: most Muslims come to Western societies to escape aspects of muslim culture. If you had any real world experience in a Muslim culture you'd know they were fleeing opression. They don't need that in the West, or they could go back home for that. Being familiar with having their lives controlled and dominated by self-serving interests they don't take too kindly to repression in "free" societies.

Ever seen any Muslim panhandlers, criminal gangs or racketeers? That's because they're probably some of the most civil immigrants the West has had. So what if >0.05% become violent? That's still far below most of America's immigrant groups. Ever hear of giving innocent people the benefit of the doubt?

There are plenty of Muslims and former-Muslims in the Tampa area. They've assimilated very well and I'm aware of no criminal or anti-social activities. And you can't say that of most immigrant groups of the past 100 years. They don't have ghettos, they don't have slums or racketeers or corrupt political machines running cities. They embraced American values and are thankful for their freedoms and opportunities. If you actually knew any immigrant Muslims you'd discover this for yourself.

Propaganda is a distortion of the truth. Actions based upon propaganda are usually flawed and error-prone. The study provides an ironic example of the errors of propaganda. The world isn't on Breaking News, it's all around you. Try getting some experience before throwing down blanket judgements upon others.

Exactly How are are they being alienated? Someone give them dirty looks?

“Ever seen any Muslim panhandlers, criminal gangs or racketeers?”

Yes, and so would you if you had any real experience with Muslims. In Europe they control the drug and prostitution rackets in many cities. Muslim gangs are practically the only seriously violent criminals in most Scandinavian countries which had not had a problem with crime until large numbers of Muslims emigrated.

“If you actually knew any immigrant Muslims you'd discover this for yourself.”

I have had more experience with Muslims than you have apparently. Your ideas about them are naive in the extreme.

“Try getting some experience before throwing down blanket judgements upon others.”

You should follow your own advice.

Seems like your experiences and views are based in Europe. Maybe you should restrict your opinions there as well.
