"I certainly hope so! But also, in the article, the process can also use the leftovers from ETHANOL production as a feedstock. That might make things worse!"Algae can also use the cow sh*t as a food source also, so instead of using it to make ethanol we feed it to the cows and pigs. Makes for cheaper food for us and the algae, a win-win for everyone except the farmers.

A win-win for everyone except the farmers? Not if he’s using his own cows’ output as a feedstock input into his own algae tanks...........

Canadians already eat algae. They call it DOULTZ. Great stuff. In fact, it's better than NORI.
You guys do know what NORI is, right? California roll wrappers?!

I saw a Nova or PBS program on this process 2 or 3 yrs ago. Seems promising

I really think this is where we need to start investing our resources in development and get away from current thinking. Yes, and coal diesel, too. We have enough coal to supply our energy need for hundreds of years..............

If Algore has his way, they might only have 19 growing days.

scrubs the atmosphere of a greenhouse gas [CO2 -ed.]Yeah, let's "scrub" all the CO2 out of the atmosphere! That will end AGW! And incidentally kill all life on the planet.
Do these people (the reporter/editor here) really have that little of a clue? Sheesh.
Now, the tech itself really does look promising. Move over Big Oil, you might be about to get your butts handed to you by Big Algae. This is just one of many new technologies that should render oil as fuel almost irrelevant over the next 5 to 10 years, and then the ME can rot in its own filth (except for the few truly productive rarities such as Israel and Turkey).

Maybe, just maybe 5, more likely 10 decades.

Ethanol, in itself, is not a joke.
By using the right process and a different source (something other than corn), it can be viable.
Brazil uses sugar cane for their ethanol. Although I suspect there’s a govt subsidy in use down there, I believe their ethanol is cheaper and more efficient than the kind we use up here.
If the US is gonna use ethanol as a fuel source, it has got to stop kissing the butts of the corn farmers (no disrespect to those in the farming industry) and search for other sources.
To: Abathar
I absolutely agree with your post.
I pretty much said the same thing in Post #35.

Good news! I’m more convinced than ever that Biodiesel is the way to go in the future.

“By using the right process and a different source (something other than corn), it can be viable.”
It’s a joke in that corn-sourced ethanol will send the price of corn sky high.
