When did they start letting French kids attend public school?

I have gotten to where I hesitate to wear any scent. My daughter has an allergic reaction when I wear my favorite cologne, so I don't wear that very often, and never around her. Recently I wore one of the Bath and Body Works scents and one of the women I sing with had a reaction to that! Are they making scents very differently now or are people just more sensitive?

My son has asthma and he kept buying stinky men’s cologne. I explained to him that it stinks and it was driving his allergies crazy. I don’t know why they make men’s colognes so stinky. They just smell nasty. But better than bad B.O.

I use only PARIS by Yves St Laurent. Hard to find, but it is MILD. Smells faintly of roses and white wine. And I don’t use MUCH!

Some of the fragrances out there are truly disgusting. I like to wear light floral fragrances, but there are occasions when I avoid them. I sing in our church choir, and I never wear fragrance there. There are just too many people for whom fragrance can cause respiratory problems or just a gunky frog-in-the-throat effect. Sadly, it seems that allergies are just far more prevalent than they once were.

A few years ago, very heavy women's fragrances were in style, and I had more than a few dinners ruined by someone with heavy perfume sitting near me. It's easy to lose track of how strong a scent is when you wear it regularly.

Indeed. Although not the Brooks Brothers brand, Royall Muske, which is typically stocked at Brooks Brothers, is pure gold.

I have to admit that this is getting out of hand. It used to be that I would only have to worry about an allergic reaction at the perfume isle at the drug or department store.

Now I have to be careful in the malls when the mall rats walk by.

My 12 year old son asked to purchase some Axe. Mmy husband and I refused him. These fast little 12 year old girls (who are taller than him and have breasts) are already chasing him. That’s all we need is to have twice as many chasing him. I told him he is saving himself for marriage.

I wish this would catch on everywhere... Especially folks that put their perfume on with a garden hose. I swear, sometimes the scent is so strong it makes my nose bleed.

Perfumes and colognes are supposed to be a hint of a scent, a mere whiff. It isn’t supposed to be put on so heavy that folks can smell it 1/2 mile away, down wind.

Odors that fill hallways come mostly from boys who douse themselves in body sprays like Axe, said Mikolai Altenberg, a senior at Minneapolis South High School. He said the smell is "indescribable" and unavoidable.

It's true and it's revolting. I tell my guys that it's not attractive to smell like some middle-aged Eastern European whore.

One in eight Minneapolis students has asthma, and school nurses have treated students for wheezing and headaches brought on by the fragrances wafting from classmates, said Mary Heiman, a nursing service manager who runs the district's asthma program.

That sounds way too high. And notice how this bill is premised on the behaviour of BOYS and accepts the presumption that one student and one nurse make.

Some of them got the scent thing right though. A few years ago National Geographic reproduced the scent Napoleon favored. It smelled pretty good and was barely there. Citrus-lemon with some other more exotic stuff.

The "odor of roses" is, in fact, a powerful allergen. Another source of the same allergen is frequently found in Vitamin C tablets made from rosehips.

Apple peels can cause problems to those susceptible.

Jr High School is one of the last places left where you can do stupid stuff and not suffer for it the rest of your life. Go back and look at your Jr. High yearbook. This is the reason we have Jr. High. there too big and smelly ( with or with out help from a spray can) to put in grade school and too stupid to put with all those smart high schoolers.

I've gotten to where I hesitate to wear any scent!

No matter WHAT we do, somebody's not going to like it, but I think we have to use some common sense, even when it comes to colognes and aftershave lotions. For some reason, the one who uses them isn't as aware of the scent as others are. A little bit goes a long way.

A few years back, e.g., the bedroom reeked of the cologne my husband had recently applied. While I am not allergic, the fumes were nevertheless sickening.

My personal decision is not to wear any fragrance to a doctor's office or to the beauty salon or around someone who is allergic, e.g.; but, PLEASE, we don't need another PC law on this subject!
