Source: Spitzer ID'd As 'Client 9' In Court Papers (used "George Fox" as alias)

NEW YORK -- More details about Eliot Spitzer's alleged meeting with a prostitute emerged Monday after the New York governor and father of three apologized to his family and the public.

According to a law enforcement source close to the investigation, the Democratic governor used the alias "George Fox" when meeting with a prostitute. His alleged conversations with the prostitution ring are detailed in court papers in which Spitzer is identified as "Client 9," according to a source.

On Monday afternoon, the Democratic governor delivered an apology standing next to his wife, Silda, who looked down at the ground as he spoke.

"I have acted in a way that violates my obligations to my family and violates my, or any, sense of right and wrong," Spitzer said. "I apologize first and most importantly to my family. I apologize to the public, whom I promised better."

"I do not believe that politics in the long run is about individuals; it is about ideas, the public good and doing what is best for the state of New York," Spitzer said.

The governor may have been linked to the ring through cell phone records, sources told NewsChannel 4.

Spitzer's involvement in the ring was caught on a federal wiretap as part of an investigation opened in recent months, according to a law enforcement official who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing inquiry.

The New York Democrat, identified in legal papers as "Client 9," met last month with at least one woman in a Washington hotel, the law enforcement official said.

The prostitution ring, identified in court papers as the Emperors Club VIP, arranged connections between wealthy men and more than 50 prostitutes in New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Miami, London and Paris, prosecutors said. Four people allegedly connected to the high-end ring were arrested last week.

The club's Web site displays photographs of scantily clad women with their faces hidden. It also shows hourly rates depending on whether the prostitutes were rated with one diamond, the lowest ranking, or seven diamonds, the highest. The most highly ranked prostitutes cost $5,500 an hour, prosecutors said.

One of those arrested, Temeka Rachelle Lewis, told a prostitute identified only as "Kristen" that she should take a train from New York to Washington for an encounter with Client No. 9 on the night of Feb. 13, according to an affidavit. Click here to read the affidavit.

Lewis said the client would be "paying for everything -- train tickets, cab fare from the hotel and back, mini bar or room service, travel time and hotel," the court papers said. The client paid $4,300 in cash to the service.

The prostitute, described in the complaint as a "petite, pretty brunette, 5-feet-5 inches and 105 pounds," met the client at about 10 p.m., according to the complaint. Lewis asked Kristen how she thought the appointment went, and she said that she thought it went very well.

In a conversation with the booking agent, Kristen said that she liked the client and that she did not think he was difficult, according to the papers.

The agent said she had been told the client "would ask you to do things that ... you might not think were safe ... very basic things," according to the papers, but that Kristen responded by saying, "I have a way of dealing with that ... I'd be, like, listen dude, you really want the sex?"

The scandal was first reported on The New York Times' Web site.

Spitzer spoke hours later. Stunned lawmakers gathered around televisions at the state Capitol in Albany to watch, and a media mob gathered outside the office of Lt. Gov. David Paterson, who would become governor if Spitzer was to resign. It took opponents only minutes to call for his resignation.

"Today's news that Eliot Spitzer was likely involved with a prostitution ring and his refusal to deny it leads to one inescapable conclusion: He has disgraced his office and the entire state of New York," said Assembly Republican leader James Tedisco. "He should resign his office immediately."

Spitzer, 48, built his political reputation on rooting out corruption, including several headline-making battles with Wall Street while serving as attorney general. He stormed into the governor's office in 2006 with a historic share of the vote, vowing to continue his no-nonsense approach to fixing one of the nation's worst governments.

Time magazine had named him "Crusader of the Year" when he was attorney general and the tabloids proclaimed him "Eliot Ness."

But his term as governor has been marred by problems, including an unpopular plan to grant driver's licenses to illegal immigrants and a plot by his aides to smear Spitzer's main Republican nemesis.

Spitzer had been expected to testify to the state Public Integrity Commission he had created to answer for his role in the scandal, in which his aides were accused of misusing state police to compile travel records to embarrass Senate Republican leader Joseph Bruno.

Bruno wouldn't comment when asked what Spitzer should do.

"I feel very badly for the governor's wife, for his children," Bruno said. "The important thing for the people of New York state is that people in office do the right thing."

Spitzer had served two terms as attorney general where he pursued criminal and civil cases and cracked down on misconduct and conflicts of interests on Wall Street and in corporate America. He had previously been a prosecutor in the Manhattan district attorney's office, handling organized crime and white-collar crime cases.

News of his troubles rocked the city.

"I just think it's ironic ..." said Steve Song of Manhattan, who works as a research analyst for an investment firm he declined to name. "Things come full circle."

Spitzer's cases as state attorney general included a few criminal prosecutions of prostitution rings and into tourism involving prostitutes.

In 2004, he was part of an investigation of an escort service in New York City that resulted in the arrest of 18 people on charges of promoting prostitution and related charges.

The issues against Spitz are for illegal wire transfers, possible money laundering, transporting a woman across state lines for illegal activity etc.

George Fox Titan Advisors hedge fund The affidavit says that Client 9 met with the woman in hotel room 871 but does not identify the hotel. Mr. Spitzer stayed at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington on Feb. 13, according to a source who was told of his travel arrangements. Room 871 at the Mayflower Hotel that evening was registered under the name George Fox. The law enforcement official said that several people running the prostitution ring knew Mr. Spitzer by the name of George Fox, though a few of the prostitutes came to realize he was the governor of New York. Mr. Fox is a friend and donor to Mr. Spitzer. Asked in a telephone interview Monday whether he accompanied Mr. Spitzer to Washington on Feb. 13 and Feb. 14, Mr. Fox responded: "Why would you think that? I did not.” Told that the Room 871 at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel was registered in Mr. Fox’s name but with Mr. Spitzer’s Fifth Avenue address, Mr. Fox said, "That is the first I have heard of it. Until I speak to the governor further, I have no comment."

The real George Fox, is not having a good night. He has an impressive career track as far as can be seen. His bio from Titan:

George Fox - President and Founder
George Fox leads Titan Advisors as its President, actively engaging in the firm’s portfolio management process as a member of the Investment Committee and leading Titan’s business development and marketing efforts. He entered the New York financial markets in 1984 as a floor trader at the Coffee, Sugar and Cocoa Exchange and the Commodity Exchange Inc., where he traded for his own account for seven years. In 1992, Mr. Fox created G. Fox & Co., a hedge fund advisory firm. He graduated with a B.A. degree from Tulane University in 1981 and earned a law degree from the University of Richmond (VA) in 1984.

Hmmm.. they sound corrupt and greedy!
Perhaps they should be investigated and brought down!
Now if only there was a self righteous prosecutor out there who believed being wealthy was a crime to pursue it...

It is very rare for federal law enforcement people to go after high price prostitution. Especially the very high priced where they charge up to 5,000 dollars for an hour of sex.

Prostitution rings taking advantage of helpless immigrants, where HIV and other sexual diseases are spread is another thing entirely. But where rich men pay women prostitutes big bucks for sex is not something that is a high priority with the federal prosecutors. Yes the men who run the ring make big bucks, but the girls make huge bucks as well. If the girls are not physically hurt, or one killed, the law does not much care.

Here is what I think may have happened. Spitzer went after and threatened some very prominent and wealthy men and companies. He cost them many millions using very shady tactics. The wealthy men were allowed to survive, for the most part, by paying huge settlements.

One of the first rules I learned is never let a Rich and powerful man survive an attack. If he survives with a lot of money and his power intact it is only a matter of time before he finds a way to get the man who prosecuted him.

I think one of these men who had been hurt financially or politically by Elliot Spitzer has been thinking of ways to get him. Perhaps some very trust worthy private eyes were looking at every thing Spitzer did. Perhaps they discovered that he was on a fairly regular basis, buying sex from this safe but expensive sex ring.

So the Wall Street or political guy goes to the federal prosecutor, not doubt a Republican and tells him what Spitzer is doing. He may even say that there is a very high paid job that will come open in his firm and recommend that the federal attorney might after a period of time want to apply for the job. That is if he has a recent record of doing very well at taking high placed politicians down.

So the attorney goes to a nice judge and gets permission to tap Eliot's cell phone. And the phones in hotel rooms he occupies. Then just for fun they expand the search and just use numbers for the men who buy the sex.

Why was Fizmas given the number nine. Do you suppose that that to cover the prosecutors butt so it looks like he got the goods on 8 other Johns before he got the goods on Spitzer. If the affidavit was a sealed document why not just use the johns name. After all the prosecutor told the media who number 9 was. To protect their butts they also told the media who the other 8 were as well. It is just that the other 8 are not famous. So the media did not use their names.

It is interesting that the story broke with Spitzer. It appears that Spitzer broke the story on himself. But then the prosecutor may have told Spritzer to do so. Or Spitzer may have thought it better to break the news himself rather than let the prosecutor do it.

Then when they get the goods on Spitzer which included paying to transport a prostitute across state lines and laundering money as well as buying sex, the prosecutor goes public with the affidavit that tells the whole story on Fitzmas.

What if Fitzmas went to D.C for no other reason than to have sex with an expensive prostitute so his wife could not catch him. They would have his rear end on several felony charges.

When a prosecutor gets a suspect on several felony charges, they rarely will drop them all to go with a misdemeanor. They do that only to get testimoney against bigger fish. But Fitzmas is the big fish.

He could get some time in prison and a felony conviction on his record. He would be an ex lawyer and a convicted felon.

It is not nice to screw with other politicians or mother Wall Street. Eliot has to be a mental case. There is no sex worth the price that Spitzer will have to pay.

Undoubtedly Spitzer will try to negotiate his resignation.. I will resign in return for your not seeking an indictment is what he is saying. But say they already have a secret indictment. But to get him to resign what if the prosecutor says he will not seek an indictment. No need to seek something one already has. We know the 4 men that owned the ring been indicted. But no indictment papers were released. But what if after two or three days of hanging tough, the prosecutor relents and agrees not to seek an indictment. Then Spitzer resigns and confesses to everything. So Spitzer resigns and confesses to the prosecutor on the agreement it will not be made public.

Only to find that he has already been indicted on felony charges and the prosecutor then goes public with the confession. Spitzer knows as does the prosecutor that while it is illegal for a suspect to lie to a prosecutor, it is perfectly legal to lie to a suspect in order to get him to confess.

I don't think Spitzer has a hand to play. If he is indicted, he will resign or they will remove him from office. In most states one has to step down from office while under indictment. The legislature dares not appear to be helping Spitzer or let him stay in office. Especially with all the goods they have on him. If he doesn't resign they may very well impeach him. Betcha there are afew D's in the state legislature that have bought some sex too.

Will the prosecutor put a knife in Spitzers back? I think it is almost certain he will.

It occurs to me that when Spitzer used state cops to try to take out his Republican opponent, that oppponent might play the same game on him using Republcans in the federal Goverment. Except the Republican would play by all the legal rules and catch Spitzer committing serious felonies.

Greta kept saying that Spitzer was trying to hang tough to only have to plead guilty to a misdemeaner. I think the negotiations may be for him to only plead guilty to one felony. Or go to trial with several prostitutes testifying as to how he physically abused them and made them do very nasty sickening things. A jury with a bunch of females being told Fitzmas is a terrible pervert, would likely put him in prison for a while.

They keep saying Spitzer is toast. I think the media knows more than they are saying. After all he is a D.

There are prosecuters who are prepared to do to Spitzer what he did to others. As someone on Wall street said today, what goes around comes around.

The agent said she had been told the client "would ask you to do things that ... you might not think were safe ... very basic things," according to the papers, but that Kristen responded by saying, "I have a way of dealing with that ... I'd be, like, listen dude, you really want the sex?"

Does anyone care to speculate as to what those "basic things" were?? What is this hypocritical power hungry cretin into? Thats the question

Nah...no sting here. Just a greedy wealthy spoiled rotten rich kid in the skin of a 48-year-old Governor, thumbing his nose at polite society. Getting the thrill of risky behavior. And stupid enought to get caught.

No big conspiracy by Wall Street bigwigs.

Just horny stupid Eliot, trying to feel young again.

Didn’t Tom Wolfe write a great book with this plot line?
