Spitzer's wife gains empathy from ex-wife of former gay NJ governor

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Dina Matos McGreevey knows too well what it's like to be a shell-shocked wife, standing by her man, as he confesses his sexual indiscretions on live television.

Unlike former Gov. James McGreevey, who told the country he was "a gay American" and would resign in 2004, New York Gov. Elliot Spitzer on Monday neither acknowledged paying high-priced call girls for their services nor offered to resign. He did, however, admit disappointing his family as news reports linked him to a high-end prostitution ring.

His performance and rating have been subpar (and that’s being generous)

One of Spitzer’s key campaign pledges was to reform the state budget process. While the state did pass a budget on schedule in 2007, the ultimate results fell short of what many reformers hoped Spitzer would achieve. Newscorp’s The New York Post opined, “Spitzer promised reform, and delivered something completely different” and termed the budget itself “bitterly disappointing.”[30]

Spitzer’s budget quickly turned into a deficit, as by the end of October it was projected the state would run a deficit exceeding $4 billion for the year. During Spitzer’s first year the state payroll increased, aggravating budget problem.[31] Despite increasing the public sector payroll, in late 2007 New York State started leading the nation in lost jobs

Spitzer proposed a bill that would give illegals licenses.

A 57-page report issued by the Attorney General’s office concluded that Spitzer engaged in creating media coverage concerning Senator Bruno’s travel before any Freedom of Information Law request was made.

The report criticized Spitzer’s office for using State Police resources to gather information about Bruno’s travel and releasing the information to the media

Douglas Muzzio, a Baruch College political scientist, commented that “The Watergate analogy is inescapable.” and now with the latest round, he has become another Clinton.

Before his latest scandal, his approval rating was as low as Bush’s.

In sum, like Bill Clinton, ES is a corrupt, hypocritical, vengeful, power hungry animal who will say and do anything. He’s the embodiement of at least a controlling portion of the Democratic party. Something the party tries to project onto Republicans with the aid of the “media.”

The full story won’t be reported because the media is useless.”

I’m hoping for the day that one of these prop wives, standing there humiliated before the cameras, reaches over and lands a good, solid haymaker to the face of her lying husband during his canned speech, just as he gets to the part about making “a poor decision.” Such a woman would immediately become a hero instead of a pathetic door mat.

Maybe Spitzer, the woman, and McGreevey (the guy) were going to have an expensive threesome.

Why not? The whole thing is crazy but I’m glad the Democrats have been caught with their pants down, again, and again, and again. That should assure Spitzer a second term. Jockeys or boxers?

BS! Mayor McCheese did not simply tell the country he would resign in 2004. Rather, he announced he was resigning in August 2004, but the effective date would be November after the date that required a special election for his successor.

Silda Wall Spitzer is known to many as a gracious, intelligent woman who made only one (?) major misstep in her life: in 1982 she married a fellow Harvard Law School student in a union that lasted just 29 days... Wall, 50, was always a reluctant political wife, writes Newsweek, in part because she had her own successful career as a corporate lawyer.

Wall grew up in Concord, N.C., and attended a Baptist women's college there. Her parents came up with her first name by shortening the Old German name Serilda -- which loosely means "armed warrior woman," (uh oh!)although she has half-jokingly said it means "Teutonic war maiden."

Shortly before she became first lady of New York, Wall told an interviewer she had spoken with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton about how to maintain a private sphere for her family.

Mrs. Spitzer cannot be too happy this little sexual encounter was also set for the night before Valentine's Day. I guess was all about Happy Valentine's Day to....himself!

Presently, McGreevey’s wife is suing her husband for
$600,000 on fraud charges. He's living with a gay partner and studying for the Episcopal priesthood.

Correct, whether blanca, mulatta, or Hebrew, I love las Brasileiras.

Spitzer seems to prefer what Archie Bunker called "regular Americans", usually on the petite side.

Paying $5,000 for sex is cheaper than marriage in Eliot's world. Of course, divorce is the most expensive option.

McGreevey's wife could've pulled out a .38 and blasted him.....

Like your sentiments but..... seriously was McGreevey worth the price of lead in the bullet? (laughs). He actually left that attractive and valuable woman. He, as you know, went to live with an Australian fancy man.

I hope the best for this lady. In a shaky defence of Spitzer,I would bring up the old case of an English minister of defence. He was Baron Profumo, married to actress, classy Valerie Hobson. This was in the 1960's. He resigned after he lied to the British House of Commons (the unforgivable offence). He had patronised a high class call girl. She had serviced a "huggy bear" also. He was likely a Russian spy in London. Bye bye Baron Profumo.

He then undertook charity work. He was eventually awarded a high honour by the Queen, for his work. It took some living down. He managed it.
