I can see how the comments would have offended some people. One can’t speak plain truth without offending someone. But how were Ferraro’s comments racist?

So, the libs are firing anyone who says anything ‘mean’ in this campaign? Great. The Party of Nice. May they all fade into oblivion.

Her comments were no more racist than what Rush said about the media's coverage of McNabb. Now the dems know what it feels like to be wrongly accused.
My feeling is that the dems are stupefied at the African American abandonment of the Clintons. But...when you play identity politics, it can come back and bite you in the butt.

I would guess many don’t see them as racist and your posting them as racist doesn’t make them racist.

Ferraro was on FoxNews, depending her remarks. She accuses Team Obama of playing the race card too much. She said they did against BJ and shut him up; now they are playing it against her.
[Apparently, for the MSM, the Race Card trumps the Gender Card.]

It is Barack himself who is diminishing his candidacy by running as a black man.
If he would run as a man, it would serve him better.

I agree with you. Everyone knows the statement is true, but admitting it would be racist.
The headline states the racism of the comment to be a fact, not someone’s opinion.

Perhaps truth should be an absolute defense against charges of racism, as it is against libel and slander.

"Its disappointing that Clintons supporters have sought to diminish Senator Obamas candidacy and his support by suggesting he is in someway being given preferential treatment because of his race, said Schakowsky." Nah, blacks aren't given preferential treatment in America. /sarc - I'm with Ferarro on this one, she merely spoke the truth and it's refreshing to hear.

That’s what struck me about the title to this.
The comments weren’t “racist”, by definition.
Racism is the belief that one race is superior to another.
What Gerry said was that Barry got a leg up to where he is because of his race - not that his race was superior or inferior to any other.
Like you said, the left has made it (nearly) a crime to speak the truth, and I’m glad to see them getting the brunt of it now.

Libs look at all issues like a pre-teen girl would.
Is it “mean” or “nice”?
Not, “will this work” or “is this reasonable”.
