The brunette at the center of Eliot Spitzer's spectacular downfall is a 22-year-old runaway from the Jersey Shore who came to the city to be a singer and ended up toppling a governor.

The stunning revelation came on a day of high drama that began with Spitzer's resignation and ended with the confession from sexy Ashley Alexandra Dupré, who is just four years older than Spitzer's eldest daughter.

"I just don't want to be thought of as a monster," said Dupré, who was born Ashley Youmans and raised in Belmar, N.J.

Now several media sources are reporting the alleged prostitute is actually Ashley Alexandra Dupre.

Dupre is reportedly 22 years old and originally from New Jersey.

The New York Times is reporting that Dupre has gone by several surnames in the past. She was actually born Ashley Youmans.

Her mother, Carolyn Capalbo, told the Times her daughter attended Wall High School in New Jersey’s Monmouth County until her sophomore year. Her mother said she then moved to North Carolina.

Court records indicate that in 2006, Dupre changed her surname from Youmans to DiPietro, the last name of her stepfather.

In Dupre’s MySpace page she describes herself as a struggling rhythm and blues singer who left a broken home at age 17. Dupre says she has struggled, taken drugs, and has been homeless at times

Dupre said she believes her career has moved in the right direction and considers herself one who has succeeded.

She also has on her MySpace what she calls her latest track “What We Want.”
