Durham, N.C. — Heavily armed Durham police, surrounding a house before dawn Thursday, captured the second of two men charged with murder in the shooting of the student body president at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Lawrence Alvin Lovette Jr., 17, surrendered to officers from the department's Selective Enforcement Team outside a house on Cook Road at 4:16 a.m. Police had surrounded the house hours before after receiving an anonymous tip through the Durham County Sheriff's Office

I know....not really much true justice is there?

At least they are off the streets and cannot kill again.

Our tax dollars will be paying to keep them housed, fed, comfy.

Yes, you could say that she did have a good life. She represents everything that is good in America.

Al Sharpton just called - “No need for my brand of justice here. Let the system do its work.”

Join you in that cautious optimism.

Life without parole is probably the best we can hope for.

It’s just not enough....I think NC is a state where victims get to sound off against the criminals after the trial is done....if so, they should definitely be allowed to film it.

I wonder if they listen to ‘gansta rap’ and were just livin’ the dream.

Disgusting animals, aided and abetted by the education system who teach them that American culture is criminal and oppressive and needs to be changed. Aided and abetted by politicians and public figures who gain personal fame and fortune by pimping a race issue that has been resolved if everyone would just be educated that our culture is good and taught to go out and make the most of it.

It sickens me, too. Too stupid to tie their shoes, but know who to target, how to abduct and how to pull the trigger.

Talk about stupid criminals.

I dunno. The one had the brains to shave that poodle pom off the side of his head. (And I'm so disappointed - I thought it was a good look for him!)

I don’t think he cut the afro off - he used the tightly wound cornrows (that’s probably not the right term) to “shrink” the fro....

Are too many northerners moving to NC? I’m surprised it still goes Republican for president. Maybe NC is in danger of going the way of VA, and turning “purple.” How sad would that be. But you mostly elect Demo governors, and get prosecutors like Nifong. Pretty sad.

A guy like Kerry shouldn’t have gotten 44% of the vote there. I assumed he did better there than in other southern states because of Edwards. I think McCain will win NC this year but I will be very interested to see what the margin is.

Aided and abetted too by an American public that is just too lethargic to do anything drastic enough to change the system. Voters keep electing the same governors and state legislators who don’t do enough to toughen penalties or appoint judges who will lock up the scum.

That’s a good question! But the powers that be in control here were LOOKING for a way to stop executions. The liberal Democrats pretend to be tough on crime - so they get votes...but then once in power.....they cowtow to those who want to stop the executions because they are “cruel and unusual punishment”....and our local media (WRAL especially) ALWAYS would have video of the anti-death penalty protests any time, every time, an execution would be carried out at Central Prison...

Easley was always “pro death penalty” in public...but his administration is so totally corrupt....and now because of the latest stoppage of the executions...he is “off the hook” ....doesn’t have to overturn death penalties....but can still “appear” tough on criminals....

Easley is lame duck Governor——who will likely seek higher office or a job at UNC so he can stay on the taxpayer’s dole...like Edwards did.

But the entire Democratic MACHINE in NC which is destroying tihs state.....will be trying to put their next machine candidate into the Governorship ===== who, if selected, will be beholden to those who tolerate crime ....so many of them in NC.....

There should have been a shootout. Surely that could have been arranged.
