Members of the radical group Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) are busy preparing to host a new war crimes conference next month in Washington. The event, billed as Winter Soldier: Iraq & Afghanistan, takes its title from the IVAWs namesake and mentor, the Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW). However, information has now come to light that profoundly undermines the VVAWs original atrocity claims.

THIWWFacts? :oP
However, Turse omitted the most basic fact about the CIDs VVAW investigations the fact that all but one case was closed as unsubstantiated, demonstrably untrue, or for lack of evidence.

Unfortunately one has to register with military.com otherwise you won’t find a name when a search is done. Also poster can use nicknames.
It’s early here and I haven’t had my second cup of Joe yet LOL,
but wasn’t the issue of VVAW covered years ago and proven that they weren’t anything more than a bunch of liars who if memory serves NONE had been to Nam and many of the members weren’t even or had they ever been in the military...
And “race”, correct me if I’m wrong here, but as far as these antiwar groups during the Viet Nam war go,
they were all just a bunch of Commie infiltrated groups just doing the Chicoms dirty work for them here in the States to get America out of Viet Nam.

The Times examined most of the [Vietnam War Crimes Working Group] files and obtained copies of about 3,000 pages about a third of the total before government officials removed them from the public shelves, saying they contained personal information that was exempt [sic] from the Freedom of Information Act.
So, you're telling me that the Los Angeles Times knew the truth about the nature of the results of the CID investigations and still decided to spin the article against the US Govt?
I'm shocked!
Have you forwarded this to the Pulitzer committee? You should.

The “peace” movement is the communist movement. (Looks and smell like a bowel movement.)
After this, I cancelled my subscription to the L.A. Times

Thanks for the ping!
Thanks for the ping. I had missed that 2006 LA Times piece—what scum.
I found a pretty good blog expose relative to that article from 2006 (”Who is Nick Turse?”)

Great stuff on the WS website (y’all do fine work!):

That is a DoD register, did you see that search option? NOT just a Military.com search
Thanks for the vast left-wing conspiracy ping.
I got corrected on this recently thanks to InterestingTimes.
The group of people who testified DID get investigated and NONE of them had any proof to their charges, some had to admit it was hearsay.
Winter Soldier has it on their website as a new article, someone saved the original report that the Army did on these liars and it is posted online.
Could anything else be expected?
No, but with leftists airing the Winter Soldier documentary at colleges across the country and pretending all this crap really happened, it's extremely useful to have hard documentary evidence to the contrary.
Yes, I remember the “Who is Nick Turse?” piece... certainly no agenda with this guy...

BUMP !!!!!
Fortunately the Democrats never succeeded in getting the draft reinstated. Without the threat of being drafted few collage kids really get emotional over the issue. Many have friends in the military and will have a hard time seeing them as murdering rapists. UC Berkeley being the exception.
I notice that the MSM has carefully reduced the scope of the Swift Vets' charges against Kerry to "attacking his military record," thereby obscuring the primary thrust of the 2004 veterans' movement - that Kerry and his fellow activists lied about US war crimes and smeared a generation of American troops in the process.
Thanks for the ping
