Could McCain Be Candidate With Pastor Like Obama's 'God Damn America' Wright?
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 03/13/2008 7:51:17 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

At the end of a Good Morning America segment today about Barack Obama's pastor, the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., an Obama campaign representative complained that John McCain's pastor had not been similarly "vetted." If that's true, then ABC or some other media outlet surely should and will do so.

Let's imagine that upon vetting, McCain's pastor is found to have made statements that were the mirror-image of those that Rev. Wright has made. How long would McCain remain a viable candidate? Judge for yourself, based on Rev. Wright's statements as exposed in the GMA segment that was the result of work by ABC's chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross. A number of clips were aired from sermons Wright gave at his Trinity United Church of Christ.

JEREMIAH WRIGHT: "The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law, and then wants us to sing God Bless America? No, no, no! Not God bless America. God damn America! It's in the Bible, for killing innocent people. God damn America for treating its citizens as less than human!"

McCain’s already been criticized for that. Of course McCain is not a member of Hagee’s church nor does he count him as his spiritual advisor: he simply accepted his endorsement, though I do question the wisdom of even that.

“That’s one hate filled man.”

Got that right! I have wondered why Mr. and Mrs. B-Hussein-O never smile and always have that dour look on their faces. Now I know. It comes from listening to that vile, hate-filled man every Sunday.

The DemocRATic spin masters are trying to say that Obama can not be held accountable for his Pastor's actions. THIS IS TRUE OF COURSE but he can certainly be held accountable for his actions and reactions to his Pastor.

My family and a bunch of other families almost left a church one time as the Pastor started straying from the WORD and embracing the Crystal Cathedral Doctrine. Mysteriously the Pastor suddenly decided to retire and the church brought in a true reformed evangelical.

So my question is that Obama clearly knows about his Pastor's goofy statements and questionable ties, what has he done personally to address it?

I’m no theologian, but although of course I disagree with Wright I don’t believe he was taking the Lord’s name in vain. He was not using gd as an adjective. He was calling on God to damn America. Wrong-headed, of course, but not taking the Lord’s name in vain, IMHO.

Sinead O'Conner is in Texas now?

I always thought that O'Conner was boob-challenged.

I think this is the yahoo I caught a glimpse of on fox News this morning shouting to his congregation about Bill Clinton and Monica “doing the nasty deed” while thrusting his hips back and forth in a vulgar manner. I hope someone else on FR saw this and can confirm it. What a gold mine this abomination in the pulpit is gonna be to the GOP if Osamabama gets the dem nomination.

Great POST. It is posts like this that I steal for conversations with others that make me look brilliant while not crediting FR...

yep refuses to salute the flag or pay homage to the country, and he does not want to fight the war on terror, associates with racists and hate America crowd. They all believe it is our faulft these a$$hole muslims attacked us.

Obama and this crowd get into office and they will try to destroy this country in four years. If Americans put this SOB into office they deserve everything he does to them because they damn sure did no0t learn anything from the Clinton and Carter years.

He’s tied himself to that anti-Catholic boob in Texas so I suppose we’ll find out.

No he hasn't, he simply didn't reject his support which is quite different than.

It was ... at Trinity United Church of Christ on the South Side of Chicago that I met Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., who took me on another journey and introduced me to a man named Jesus Christ. It was the best education I ever had
Barak Obama

Followed by a twenty year relationship with a congregation and pastor that hold positions like these . Just a couple of many which, imo, are problematical when held by an individual seeking to govern all Americans.

A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA.

A congregation working towards ECONOMIC PARITY.

Commitment to the Black Community. The highest level of achievement for any Black person must be a contribution of strength and continuity of the Black Community.

Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness.” Classic methodology on control of captives teaches that captors must be able to identify the “talented tenth” of those subjugated, especially those who show promise of providing the kind of leadership that might threaten the captor’s control.

Pledge to Make the Fruits of All Developing and Acquired Skills Available to the Black Community.

Personal Commitment to Embracement of the Black Value System. To measure the worth and validity of all activity in terms of positive contributions to the general welfare of the Black Community and the Advancement of Black People towards freedom.

Note that while the positions at the link are expected "religious" commitments, most of them are actually secular in nature.

The Good Morning America segment said that the sermon in which he called on God to damn America was in 2003.

Is this the same Jeremiah A. Wright who lives in the 64 % Caucasian district of Beverly (AKA “Beverly Hills”) in Chicago?-# 3 in median income in the entire area?

In the house currently valued at $733,000, that was bought in 2002 for $585,000?

Who drives a Porsche, (according to a recent article about him that I read)?

This poor, humble man of the cloth is suffering here in America, folks—please don’t be hatin’

But, heah, John McCain “respects” Senator Obama. It’s nice to have a real courageous guy in our corner, isn’t it?

Want to know why there is no one who wants to work in America anymore? They were killed because it wasn’t going to be a “quality life”.

Vanished
