Gay Porn as Required Reading in Ill. High School, Media Silent
Newsbusters.org ^ | 3/12/08 | Warner Todd Huston

Posted on 03/13/2008 8:39:04 AM PDT by Mobile Vulgus

The story of an Illinois high school making a gay pornographic play required reading for seniors has been reported since March 7th, but it has been ignored for the most part with only a handful of news outlets having taken on this issue. The fact that a public high school that requires such reading doesn't raise a fuss in the media shows how the media supports the gay agenda, of course. It also shows the arrogance of the Deefield, Illinois school administrators that tried to slip this advocacy for homosexuality into the curriculum without bothering to sponsor a discussion on including it among the community that pays the taxes for the school district.

The book, "Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes," has numerous passages that describes gay sexual encounters in exacting, sometimes violent, detail.

Initially, this book was required reading for college-bound seniors, but a Deerfield community group was successful in getting the book removed from the required list and placed on an opt-in list.

Matt Barber, director of cultural issues with Concerned Women for America, was amazed by the explicit nature of the book.

Barber said, "This isn't a First Amendment issue. This is about school officials betraying the community trust. Heads need to roll here. Assigning this racist, pornographic smut to high school kids is nothing short of child abuse."

This same school district has been in hot water before for trying to slip in under the radar homosexual advocacy into the curriculum.

The school district and NSSA clashed last year over a freshman orientation session where students talked about bullying and other issues and included gay students relating their experience in high school.

And yet, the news media stays silent on this issue. It isn’t hard to understand why. The MSM wants neither to alert people who would stand against this effort nor report the success, even if minor, of these people trying to head off the instituting of the homosexual agenda in our schools.

You should see the explicit sex descriptions in this thing. It's disgusting! I'd be against this if it were hetero, too, by the way.

Studies show that ACT scores rise when students are assigned rigorous reading material, much of it traditional classics- Shakespeare, Dickens, Fitzgerald. That assumes that the criteria for choice is education rather than social engineering.

How ever good or bad you remember public school to have been in your day, it is worse, there has been a step-change and it is way worse.

If you care about your kids and your grand-kids, get them out of public school. The public schools have no reason to change unless there is a groudswell of movement away from them. And even if such a groudswell never happens, you need to do what you can to save yours.

Romans 1:25-27 tells us that same-sex sexual relationships are a consequence of idolatry. In other words, such relationships are a consequence of disobeying the 1ST COMMANDMENT, a major aspect of the GREATEST COMMANDMENT, to love the jealous God with all your being.

Homosexuals need to keep in mind, however, that the good news of the gospel is not about how God despises same-sex sexual relationships. In fact, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 indicates that certain members of that church had been slaves to such relationships but had been cleansed in Jesus' name. So these former homosexual had evidently repented and accepted God's grace to straighten their lives out.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

I don't believe the framers of the Constitution ever intended this First Amendment to protect this kind of garbage.

My understanding of the First Amendment was to protect POLITICAL speech, criticism of the government and elected officials; not to let any kind of sewage promoted as *literature* to be foisted on the public under the guise of *free speech*. I think they would have been mortified if they realized how that amendment would have been misused.

Censorship isn't all bad. Some things deserve to be censored.

Heck, even the left is in favor it it when they try to ban books like the Bible and To Kill a Mockingbird. They only are against censorship when they agree with something. When they disagree, they are pro-censorship themselves.

It was on another thread about the same topic.

Allegedly the book had some redeeming value as it dealt with important issues of our day. No reason given, though, of why pornographic, detailed descriptions of said activity contributed to the book.

Too many stories and books with great story lines have been ruined by adding porn. Somehow in people’s twisted thinking, stuff like that *spices up* a story and they think that people will be more likely to buy it.

I think that if someone wants to read or watch something like that, they can go out and get it. Adding stuff like that doesn’t make me more likely to get if because it’s in there; it makes me less likely to get it. There’s lots of stuff I don’t bother with even though the story line sounds great because of all the junk they add.

This - the outright indoctrination of children - is the lifeblood of leftism. Especially today, with record childlessness amongst leftists, their primary mechanism for social engineering is the public school curriculum. The media is merely insurance, or acts as a reinforcement ("cultural homework").

Among leftists, there is hostility directed at the very notion that children should be primarily socialized by their families, and not by agents operating under government mandate.

We are fighting the debate over school choice, for example, on the grounds of improving the learning environment (with respect to enhanced preparation for college and employment), with an eye to curtailing the rampant leftist social indoctrination. To the leftist, the foremost concerns are equality (equal outcome trumps optimal outcome - small standard deviation being viewed as more important than a higher mean or median) and the socialist/leftist indoctrination itself. The whole point for them is to eliminate school choice - their very goal is to suppress parental input, and to make as much as possible uniform and compulsory.

Leftism highly parasitic, with its primary vector being the government. We are the hosts. In a genuinely free market of ideas where government coercion is extremely limited (i.e. limited only by dissuading those actions and which would infringe upon our negative rights), leftism would go extinct. School choice (for example, a process we could begin by introducing a voucher system) is a direct threat to the perpetuation of an entire political philosophy.

P.S. I try to get through to Rush but he's tougher to get into.

I’ve watched Hannity on TV, he’s hardly ‘silenced by the gaystapo’. quite the opposite, he gets energized by that stuff.

Pick your battles, trying to get this issue out now is beyond foolish. It’s like trying to get the fire department to put out a piece of paper that’s on fire while the whole city block is going up in flames.

These kids are the future of our country. The left knows if they can get them now, they’ve got the next several decades sewed up. That’s why they’re trying so hard.

Sorry, I consider the corruption and indoctrination of our youth to be a very serious issue. It’s something we WILL pay for down the road.

I never said it wasn’t an important issue, it is.

However, it pales in comparison to the presidential race, much like that piece of paper I referred to as the whole block is going up in wild flames.

They aren’t going to take this issue up on national talk radio. The whole Dem party is becoming engaged in a bitter race war, and our radio guys are (rightfully) focused on fanning those flames with all their might.

This can burn everyone on the Left, included the folks who are pushing the school agenda you are worried about. If we had a conservative candiate, we could even put those guys out of business.

Back up a bit and see the big picture.

Ok,,,I will defend your right to see it, and the right of you to give permission to your children to see it.

I will NOT defend the government forcing this on other people's children! I object to the government forcing taxpayers to pay for the government **forcing** it on other parent's children!

Government schools are NOT optional! The only option a parent and taxpayer has is to submit to the heavy jack boot of the government school gestapo or face prison.

Even if this book is optional, the government TRASHES the First Amendment Rights of parents and children by FORCING them into associating with other children who have read the book and will be discussing it. ( Violation of free assembly).

It is also a violation of the establishment of religion. The government is **establishing** the religious worldview of some parents and COMPLETELY TRASHING that of others.

Oh...and please don't say that parents have the “choice” to privately or home school their children. What these parents are doing is **RANSOMING** their children from the godless, Marxist, Secular Humanist clutches of the homosexuals and liberal/Marxists running the government indoctrination camps. These parents are essentially paying a freedom of religion and freedom of conscience TAX!!!!!

Government schools are an abomination!!!

This week I listened to Sean talk with Newt Gingrich. They spent more than 15 minutes making small talk about their wives! It could have been more, because I finally arrived at my destination and ( in DISGUST!!!) turned off the radio.

There is plenty of time to discuss these school issues! Rush, Sean, and OReilly are NOT doing it because:

1) They are stupid.
2) They are afraid of being hounded and persecuted by the homosexual activists.
3) They don't want to offend their audience of which most use the government schools.

What STOOOOPID WEENIES!

As for this being an election year:

Are you aware of Steven Covey's idea?

Urgent and important.
Urgent and not important
Not urgent and unimportant.
Not urgent BUT **VERY** IMPORTANT!!!( It is this category that usually needs the most attention!)

These school issues far under the category of “Not Urgent but VERY, VERY, VERY IMPORTANT!” The Marxists are doing all they can to indoctrinate the next generation of voters. We WILL LOSE OUR FREEDOM IN THE VOTING BOOTH!!! And,,,The 3 most important people in the conservative media are ASLEEP!!!!!

I am exasperated!

Newsbusters is claiming the media is complicit here.

Curiously, here is an article about how the media is complicit in the ex-NY Governor Eliot Spitzer debacle. Are there similarities?

Spitzer's Media Enablers, by Kimberley A. Strassel, Wall Street Journal, March 12, 2008, p.A21

And I have written about the misleading media as well: Library Filtering Legislation Needed, Chicago Daily Herald, February 21, 2008.
