Jeremiah Wright, the Sister Souljah of 2008
If she needs it and remember she's already way ahead in Pennsylvania Hillary Clinton can go after Barack Obama, and turn Jeremiah Wright into this year's version of Sister Souljah. And the only folks who will complain will be the people who complained about Bill Clinton criticizing Sister Souljah - people who are not numerous enough to influence the election.
Millions upon millions of Americans have a pastor, priest, rabbi or minister who they like, but may not always agree with in every sermon. But those Americans' religious leaders probably have never called the country "the U.S. of KKK A." It's unlikely they've ever heard, "God d*** America" from their pulpit, and I suspect many Americans would walk out upon hearing that. They've probably never heard that figure tell them that their own government invented the AIDS virus.
Wright's church sells his sermons on video. You can get them on the web. It is tough to believe that the Clinton campaign doesn't have every video of every sermon they could get their hands on. It's also hard to believe that there isn't a single video with regular church member Barack Obama visible in the audience. (The excerpts I have seen have quite a few reaction shots from the flock.)
What are the odds that the Clinton team can find a video with Obama in the background, with Wright saying something controversial?
And what are the odds that if that video exists, it gets dropped on the press in the closing days before Pennsylvania?
(One Republican strategist told me this afternoon he cannot imagine that the Clinton camp doesn't already have something in this vein. This strategist is speculating, but he's been around the block a few times.)
If Hillary can't beat Obama with this kind of material to work with, she would never beat John McCain.
And one other note about Obama's denial, where he emphasizes that Wright is his pastor, not his political adviser. "God d*** America" does not appear to be political advice; if it's anything, it's a religious statement. It's not like Congress is debating the Bipartisan Invoking God's Damnation and Wrath Upon Our Own Country Act of 2008.
Wright/Obama - spell it correctly, Doug
I agree with you. What Wright has been spewing didn’t just suddenly happen overnight and was a one shot deal, it is what he thinks, it’s what HE is, just like Sharpton and Jackson, cut from the same liberal cloths, and if Obama is claiming Wright is his spiritual advisor, what does that mean about Obama? This is huge, the dims must be crapping their liberal pants by now...lol...waiting for it all to implode...will we be getting 2 Christmases this year? One in November and one in December??? Well, gotta love those Rats, they keep us laughing at them all along the way!
This problem may be more common than we think. It may just be that the Rev Wright’s brand of rhetoric is preached at many churches and most of the parishioners agree with it.
Those videos need to be played over and over and over and over......and then over again!!!
After Pennsylvania.
This Wright guy got it right when he said Bill Clinton did to America what he did to Monica Lewsinsky.
Beyond that, though, Wright sounds like Louis Farrakhan ala Christian. Maybe he should call his church “The Nation of Jesus” or something like that.
Wright must have gotten a divinity degree from the Reverend Jim Jones School of Theology in Jonestown, Guyana. Wright must have graduated and left before the “Kool Aid Social.”
I agree with that too, their so-called leaders that are FAKE reverends and pastors, spew the hatred and rascism and then that is what their followers start to think. They say the white man is the rascist, that is a big joke coming from the likes of these characters. Real men of God don’t use racial comments and spew hatred. What a crock.
If my pastor shouted G D America, he would get quite an earful from me, as would the Bishop. I would then avoid him at all times.
and Obama is a liar, he had to know what this man was saying, and yet he remained his spiritual advisor and did not leave the church. Where is that GOOD JUDGMENT you always talk about Barack HUSSEIN Obama?
Those hateful comments fit in quite nicely with what Obama-Momma has stated on more than one occasion.
What a wonderful first "FIRST MOMMA" she will make--a racist FIRST MOMMA with an "attitude"!!!
EXACTLY!!!
If he believes so much in "CHANGE"----
then he should have "CHANGED" Pastor's over 20 years ago!!!
Great tagline.
Right— imagine (and I shudder in horror to think) tea time in the oval office..Wright, Farrakhan, the Black Panthers...regular visitors to the White House....those thinking of sitting out the general so as not to vote for McCain? Imagine the alternative.
Thanks :)
How badly did the the Sista Souljah controversy hurt (then candidate) Bill Clinton?
Exactly!!
This 20-year association with a blatant racist will prove to the black community,,,
that Obama REALLY "IS" BLACK ENOUGH!!!
EXACTLY!!!!
Just like with O.J. they will stick up for Obama no matter how guilty he may be!
