As I noted earlier, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright has more than one high-profile member in his congregation. Besides presidential hopeful Barack Obama, Wright also preaches his message to Oprah Winfrey, one of the most successful and beloved media personalities in America. She has an active on-line community at Oprah.com, and her forums have had almost 300 posts from members in the past 24 hours after the revelations of race-baiting and hatred at Trinity United Church. Most talk about their concern over the content of Wrights sermons:
I have to agree with Dick Morris [who appeared on Foxs OReilly Factor last night]. We both intensely dislike Hillary and Bill. But, it needs to be said that Rev. Wright strikes me as a very dangerous, divisive, and anti-American racist.
This is extremely troubling. Rev. Wright is one of the worst Ive seen anywhere in America. He is truly dangerous. .. .. .. Obamas failure to distance himself from this very dangerous anti-American will become more damaging in the next few days.
I was upset as well. Its beyond inflammatory and much worse than anything Geraldine Ferrarro said, yet I dont hear a peep out of Obama. What is pastor said is beyond disgusting. To blame the US for what happened on 9/11. And I am NO fan of the Clintons, but those things he said about Hillary and Bill and did you see the tapes or just hear them? This would certainly explain Michelle Obamas anger.
Lets wait and see if the mainstream media steps up to the plate. They took great glee in attacking Mitt Romney and his LDS faith, lets see if they go after Obama.
Obama should not be held responsible for what Rev. Wright says from the pulpit. However, being a member of a church that is racist is not much different than being a white person who belongs to a country club that doesnt admit Blacks.
The threads also pointed to an allegation made by Wright that the US created the HIV virus, presumably for deliberate infection of certain populations. In a speech made at Howard University in January 2006, he offered the following conspiracy theories:
Mr. Wright thundered on: America is still the No. 1 killer in the world. . . . We are deeply involved in the importing of drugs, the exporting of guns, and the training of professional killers . . . We bombed Cambodia, Iraq and Nicaragua, killing women and children while trying to get public opinion turned against Castro and Ghadhafi . . . We put [Nelson] Mandela in prison and supported apartheid the whole 27 years he was there. We believe in white supremacy and black inferiority and believe it more than we believe in God.
His voice rising, Mr. Wright said, We supported Zionism shamelessly while ignoring the Palestinians and branding anybody who spoke out against it as being anti-Semitic. . . . We care nothing about human life if the end justifies the means. . . .
Concluding, Mr. Wright said: We started the AIDS virus . . . We are only able to maintain our level of living by making sure that Third World people live in grinding poverty. . . .
It isnt so much the anger that Wright manifests that will be off-putting to mainstream Americans of all creeds and colors, but the conspiracy-theory lunacy that he spews. Almost all Americans gave up on supremacy theories decades ago; most of those who espoused them are dead. No one has argued in the mainstream in any way, shape, or form for that kind of nonsense since the Dixiecrat movement died out in the 1960s. An ill-worded valediction for Strom Thurmond six years ago drew so much condemnation that it forced Trent Lott out of his leadership position in the Senate, although to be fair, former Klan member Robert Byrd remains in the Senate as a Democrat.
Most Americans would find the notion that we are crypto-supremacists insulting and offensive. And yet two of the most popular people in the US choose to attend the church of a minister who apparently makes that a recurring theme of his ministry. In Obamas case, he has given over $22,000 to support Wright and his message in 2006 alone.
Given the intense media interest in Mormon underwear and LDS doctrine in the fall of 2007, one might expect a little more scrutiny of the much more political and racially-charged message coming from the pulpit of the Trinity United Church. It looks like that may have already begun, and the reputations of both Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey rest on how quickly and adeptly they can distance themselves from the debacle.
Update: Barack Obama tried pushing back, but this seems rather weak:
Q: I dont know if youve seen it, but its all over the wire today (from an ABC News story), a statement that your pastor (the Rev. Jeremiah Wright of Trinity United Church of Christ on Chicagos South Side) made in a sermon in 2003 that instead of singing God Bless America, black people should sing a song essentially saying God Damn America.
A: I havent seen the line. This is a pastor who is on the brink of retirement who in the past has made some controversial statements. I profoundly disagree with some of these statements.
Q: What about this particular statement?
A: Obviously, I disagree with that. Here is what happens when you just cherry-pick statements from a guy who had a 40-year career as a pastor. There are times when people say things that are just wrong. But I think its important to judge me on what Ive said in the past and what I believe.
Cherry-pick? Perhaps Senator Obama can explain the context that would justify God damn America and the accusation that America created HIV. That dog wont hunt.
Howard Dean left his church over a bike path. We laughed at the superficiality of that choice, but Obama has a much better reason to repudiate Trinity and Wrights supposed retirement wont come nearly in time to rescue him from this problem.
However, it begs the question: Is Oprah now a liability to Obama too (in addition to Michelle)?
The clueless getting a clue.......
This is going to leave a very bad taste in the mouths of concerned citizens. Raging liberals won’t care.
I honestly do not understand the “outrage” from the Democrat party regarding Pastor Wright. After all, most Democrats agree with his statements. If anything, Pastor Wright should be applauded for his candor with regards to communicating the issues that the Left holds most dear.
Well, the problem is that Obama knows he’s not going to win over moderates if this fanaticism continues to be exposed on a large scale.
What scares me is how many more of these preachers are out there inciting blacks to violence. Maybe some good will come of this if it starts the rest of America to realize just what is happening under our very noses.
The Dem. cvampaign is evolving into Black Vesus White. I saw two black femal Obama supporters on O’Reilly last night and I couldn’t belive their defense of Wright’s statements. O’Reilly was just as incredulous.
Beloved by suckers.
Oprah will lose a lot of her empowerment when the truth about her minister of hate gets out.
Excellent point. It is naive to think that this “black” church is an anomaly. I’m sure that there are large black congregations like this in every large city in America.
There, fixed it.
She's loved by millions of white middle-class women who are fundamentally good hearted if somewhat naive (i.e. the type of people who typify the American spirit of live-and-let-live). They love her because she's a non-threatening black who talks, thinks, and acts just like they do. They have no idea how she (Oprah) really feels about them, their husbands, their families, and the suburban culture they are part of.
Ok, got it?
I saw them too.
If they are representative of the majority of blacks in this country, I can't stop myself from being a cheerleader - Go whites go!, Go whites go!
I’ve thought for a long time that Orpah is a new age heathen. It turns out she just may be a lot worse than that.
OUCH!
Wait’ll ElRushbo gets ahold ot it!
Oprah listens to this CRAP????? Yikes!!!
Yes, I wonder how many of these churches are preaching Marxist Liberation Theology that is steeped in Black Nationalism?
“Waitll ElRushbo gets ahold ot it!”
I believe that Rush mentioned that Oprah went to this Hate America church this last week.
I really was shcoked by the recorded sermons by Wright- I know some Blacks feel this way- just didn’t realize it was this entrenched in their society leadership and so strong.
What really makes me sad is that people like Wright, and yes Jesse, and others that many Blacks look up to could be preaching useful messages to “their” people. What I didn’t hear was messages on how to move forward, how to make things better- it is no wonder that so many Blacks can’t figure out how to get ahead, they need guidance from real leadership.
No wonder Blacks like Condelezza (?) Rice are touted as being “not black enough” they don’t meet the image seen in the community. Seems to me the best thing the Blacks could do for themselves is to rid themselves of so-called leaders like Wright and find, nurture and support leaders that will help them and their children succeed. Time for the pity parties to be over.
I wonder how Oprah's audience would feel about her, if they learned more about who she chooses as her spiritual adviser, and how she must really feel about them under her mask
Take a look here and listen to her (click on her picture for the audio) gloating about how she's now bossing white folk around
Oprah preaches some loony religion herself.
UH OH!!!
middle aged white females began bailing when she chose the black man over the white woman.
No, Oprah will have the Good Reverend on her show and he’ll make nice and this will all go away except in our heads which will keep exploding like IED’s.
My wife’s female relatives back in the Midwest and Illinois were still Oprah fans inspite Oprah trotting out Hussein ObamaSamma for president.
However, this Hate America bs by Oprah’s and Hussein’s racist preacher will hammer down a lot of their blinded loyalty to Oprah.
so the “million little pieces” scandal didn’t tarnish her image at all? my MIL told me just recently that she has given up on Oprah and no longer watches ...but she quit about the time of that scandal. she has been dem all her life...but she may just have to vote for McCain this time around
ping
Our DIL became a conservative after 9/11. She would like to see us bomb and kill all of the Islamofacist people in the world to protect her children. She feels that both Obama and Hill would be disasters for her and her family.
Yet, she has an incredible soft spot for Oprah. I will be sending her all of this Monday.
There’s a certain segment of the black ‘leadership’ who would like nothing better than a race war. This so called ‘pastor’ is one of them. And they’ve plenty of useful idiot followers who are itching for a crack at The Man. Just like the one who cheered and applauded his every word in his hate-fileld and delusional ‘sermons’.
Is America finally starting to realize that blacks can be racists? Wowzers - That realization alone might be worth a McCain presidency.
She attends the same church as the Obamas.
Their message essentially is one of victimology. What they should be teaching is: "Build a Better Hut".
Grass huts used ancestrally in lion-infested Africa really don't cut it. Imagine sitting-up quickly, eyes wider than Buckwheat-on-steroids, as a lion reaches into your neighbor's hut and drags a victim out to the bushes. I'll bet that's a sound you aren't soon to forget.
Personally, I couldn't live in a place where cats this size roamed around freely looking for a snack. Culturally, I wouldn't have too as I'd rely on my instincts and build a zoo- or two. Or, go out at night with a flashlight and something chambered in .40 cal. and eradicate the problem.
The Build a Better Hut sermon would consist of doing whatever you could to prevent becoming a victim. Things like: education, building strong families, the work ethic, etc. The last thing a person living in lion country needs to hear is that a shelter built of straw is gonna cut it. Or, that the population of lions is on the rise.

The big problem Obama has is that this isn’t some complicated scandal like Whitewater or Rezko or some obscure fight about campaign laws, its an easy to grasp shocker. Even the mushy middle who does not pay attention can hear this and be turned off, and its not as if its just a person who endorsed him. Its a TWENTY YEAR relationship.
One report stated that Oprah quit this “church” 15 years ago. Does anyone know if this is true?
I got my info here.

Oprah left that racist church a while ago.... Or so the story goes probably put out by her camp
I mean how do you leave a church? You resign? You just stop showing up. You ask to be taken off the membership rolls?
Meanwhile Obama’s two girls have been baptized there. Has Hussein every been baptized there or anywhere? I doubt it. Obama likes to be in between a Muslim and a Christian.
And just look at the love Wright’s church has for the Black Muslims -—Nation of Islam-— Chicago is their head quarters by the way
The audacity of bullshit
Exactly- I know I don’t want to hear so much about what is wrong, as I want to hear about ways to fix it.
Wasn’t it Michelle who introduced Barack to this church?
A 70% illegitimate birth rate will doom any group in a modern society, and put them in a lower economic standard .
Many whites are now joining that group. - Tom
I'm positive Michelle is much more into this black racist church than is Obama.
I think Obama found Wright's church all on his own and knew it would enhance his street credibility more than a regular old church
But Michelle was more into Wright's wackiness....my speculation
True.
The single greatest cause of poverty is a single woman household.
We can thank feminism and the breakdown of morality in this nation for driving men out of the home and women and children into abject poverty.
“, I can’t stop myself from being a cheerleader - Go whites go!, Go whites go!”
Are we the Vast White Wing Conspiracy now?
LOL
Don’t be ridiculous. The feminist movement did not push men out of the home. Since the 1800’s men have abandoned their families, especially in minority and poorer households. Feminism made it harder for me to abandon financially (yes needs improvement but better than past)thru child support laws (NONE existed before feminism) and the feminist movement also empowered women to not allow drunken or just lazy husbands to stay in the home or ‘stop by’ when they are on their way to their next adolescent pit stop !
