Naomi Wolf, the woman who once advised Vice President Al Gore to act more like an alpha male and wear earth-toned clothing, is going after Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee for president.
Wolf, who is backing Sen. Barack Obama for president, went on MSNBC today and complained that the media is not asking McCain the tough questions.
“They are not even saying to McCain, you were tortured, you were held prisoner, you gave information under duress in enemy hands,” said Wolf, a well-known feminist writer. “And you allowed them to create loopholes in the Military Commissions Act that you passed in 2006. What happened with that?”
McCain was a prisoner of war during Vietnam, held by the North Vietnamese for five and a half years. During that time, he was badly beaten and repeatedly tortured. Saturday marks the 35th anniversary of McCain’s release from prison. He was later awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit, the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Although Wolf alleged that McCain “gave information” to his Communist captors, she did not specify what that was.
When asked for a list of members of his squadron, for example, McCain provided his interrogators with the names of the Green Bay Packers offensive line.

I did some research on this woman after seeing a youtube clip of her on the John Stewart show. She is unbelievable...a solid example of the poorly informed on the rabid left. She recently wrote this book on the 10 steps a despot takes to seize control of a country. She implies (if not states) that Bush is somewhere between step 8 and 9 of seizing control of the US. Its stupefying drivel. I don’t know why I spent my time checking into her - watched more youtube videos, read some reviews of her books on Amazon, etc. I guess opposition research would be the motivation. In the end, I realized it was 30 minutes of my life I’ll never get back.
I was going to post a pic of her and try to say something witty and pithy and ribauld.

Leftists live in a magical world where the impossible will become compulsory. The new governor of New York proposed legislation to make it illegal for police to shoot to kill criminals -- the police would only be allowed to shoot to wound criminals. I heard about a case where a police officer shot a criminal who aimed a gun at him. The liberal press wondered why the police officer did not just shoot the gun out of the criminal's hands. The leftists mistake Hollywood trick photography for reality.
I had the tv on when Wolf said this, but wasn’t paying much attention. It leaped out, McCain gave information to the enemy, but right away I thought I’d imagined it. Took it out of context. Something! Made a note of her name but then thought...nah! Nobody could have said THAT!
On that note, here’s a question for Obama concerning his “opposition to the Iraq invasion”:
Does this mean that he feels the world and Iraq would be better off with Saddam Hussein still in power?
Just a simple yes or no would suffice.
Oh.. she named the enemy as the Communists? We're talkin' about the war in Viet Nam here -- we were the "enemy" for most of today's Rat Party (formerly the traditional Democratic Party).
I have no doubt that before November one campaign worker or another will publicly call McCain a "baby killer" then do the standard "I've embarassed Hillary/Obama I was a bad boy, I have to resign" thingy.
Quite right. The McCain Deranged here at FR have made the same emotional and uninformed accusations.
This will backfire on them if the Dems try to make this an issue.

Well, McCain “gave information.” If it turns out that the North Vietnamese made money betting on the Green Bay Packers to win Super Bowl II as a result of what McCain told them, that could be a problem.
