How much trouble is Barack Obama in over the extremism of Jeremiah Wright? Enough that Dem strategist Donna Brazile has been reduced to arguing that as black preachers go, Wright is relatively moderate. Enough that the normally affable Brazile got a bit short with Time editor Mark Halperin, he of the infamous memo to his subordinates during the 2004 presidential campaign while serving as ABC News political director.
The comments came during the panel discussion on today's This Week with George Stephanopoulos on ABC.

Brazile says Wright a relative moderate ping to Today show list.
File Under:
“Damning With Faint Praise”
I seriously hope that’s not true.
if that is moderate, am I to assume their are “white sacrifices” in the more radical churches?
Just when I think things can’t get any better, up pops Brazile!
Brazile steaming hot b*llSh*t on a platter.
Barack Hussein would have found more moderate preachers in any mosque!
Chickens are coming home to roost in the DemoRAT party. What an eye opener NOT!
Somehow I don’t think her comments are going to help matters much, as far as Obama’s campaign is concerned.
If that’s true, there is a cancer in the soul of Black America.
SEDWow.
I’m speechless.
Donna Brazile says he’s trying to bring “reconcilliation”...
OMG.
This is a great clip, Mark...
Well, thanks for that, Donna! I guess that just makes everything all better!
*cough*
Yeah, it wouldn’t exactly surprise me if there are a fair amount of black preachers out there that make Wright look like a conservative patriot by comparison.
This reminds me of the two Obama staffers that appeared on O’Reilly on Friday. That was, without a doubt, the stupidest political move I’ve ever seen. They actually tried to DEFEND Wright’s comments and call O’Reilly a racist.
The main reason I’ve been calling Obama “Pol Pot 2.0” because they’re both incredibly stupid, and this proves that beyond any doubt.
A damn shame Hillary wasn't finished off in Ohio and Texas. This would have been a cakewalk for McCain. Nevertheless, too many on the right would rather lose this year, bringing on the second coming of Reagan that is NOT going to happen.
WHAT! Moderate? Is she smoking crack?
Sadly, she may be right.
Speaks more about the intellectual honesty and integrity of the concregants than is does about the country.
“Civil rights” leaders always talk about the hidden racism in America. I suggest it’s hiding in black churches.
sounds like mosques and universities aren’t only place we ought keep an eye on..
I simply cannot believe that Jeremiah Wright is a MODERATE black preacher...
I live in a country I never knew existed. That’s not to say I didn’t know about Farrakhan, Sharpton and Jackson...but I had no CLUE this attitude was so deep and widespread...so..mainstream???
Watch the guy in the background from 0:14 to 0:18 in the video. He’s having a hard time withholding laugher!
Whenever I have stopped by a black preacher’s program on the satellite, I have never seen that kind of crap said from the pulpit. Just the opposite.
She’s probably right. I am stunned sometimes when I happen to be flipping through my car radio stations and come across some black “preacher” who is saying raving, paranoid, hate-filled things about whites that make you think of sombody with his eyes rolling around and spittle flying out of his mouth - and all the black grannies are saying “hmmmm-hmmmm!” along with him.
Blacks are taught to hate whites from the first breath they draw. This goes to excuse everything that is wrong in their individual and personal lives, with the result that when some hideous mass murderer (of whites) is caught and goes to trial, he becomes a hero.
I think we have a serious problem in this country that nobody is addressing.
Wouldnt it be something if the most lasting effect of Barry’s candidacy was to expose the extreme black racism in their churches and communities.
The dirty little secret of pervasive black militant racism is being outed.
I don’t think Donna believes Wright is moderate. She just wants to BS the masses, so they figure this is nothing of concern, that’s all.
Interesting that you and I would post what we did at practically the same instant. I don’t listen to black preachers on the radio. Do you watch them on TV?
Doesn’t this whole OB’s church mess and some calling it “normal” explain why 90% of the black vote is democrat.
I was in several black churches as a girl and never heard this kind of hate of Wright's. Since they didn't know white people were coming, I don't believe they changed their sermons to accomodate me and friends.
In fact, I believe this kind of black preacher (Wright) has grown into maturity in the last 50 or 60 years, as blacks have been reminded constantly of their victimhood.
vaudine
Well...I’m not so sure. Donna is a very bright gal. If she is saying that for the reason you suggest - she has to realize it will bring up questions by white Americans about the actual and REAL state of race, bias, bigotry and discrimination in our country.
It certainly has for me.
Wright is not a moderate, but when it comes to black churches he isn’t far removed from the mainstream. Preaching of this sort has been going on in many black churches for decades but its been overshadowed people like Calypso Louie Farakhan. Up until now its been given a free pass by the media... black rage and all that.
I just think of the real victims of the right-on reverend and his crazed colleagues.
Barry and Michelle may be the all-american success story, but I think the lives of most young black men and women who spend every Sunday listening to this toxic message and internalizing it probably turn out a lot less positive.
You are correct. The real scandal is how the Drive-Bys and the rest of the liberal Establishment have been able to hide this widespread paranoid buffoonery from the public.
Compare the surprise with this assclown church with the constant depiction in the media of conservative Christian congregations.
Some of this is, in my opinion, just a racket.
The race hustlers make lots of dough and have lots of influence. Their sychophantic followers might well realize that their speeches often go over the top, but they don’t care. Either they like hearing “whitey” damned and excoriated so much because it serves some need inside them, or as hangers on they, too, are somehow benefiting from the influence and financial success of such racialists.
I read somewhere that Wright’s home in Chicago is worth three quarters of a mill or some such number. I bet it would be fascinating to track his finances. The apparent and the hidden as well.
Also to look into some of the clappers, jumpers and shouters in his church and find out what they are gaining by their affiliation with it and him.
I just don't think that black preachers are full of hate and anger like Rev Wright seems to be. African-Americans that I know are good people, very caring.
What is happening?
My family and I visited a black church in Atlanta a few years ago (we were the only white people in the building). The message was inspiring and the members treated us like family. Very enjoyable.
My goodness. If an America-hating, Nation of Islam Louis Farrakhan honoring, Khaddafy-visiting, pali-terrorist-loving, Israel-hating, AIDS-conspiracy-moonbat lunatic like Wright is considered a “moderate” I’d hate to meet a “radical”.
This was an extremely dumb statement of her to make.
No, when I’m driving around I flip through stations. Believe me, I don’t seek them out!
Actually, the worst was when I lived in New York City. I heard stuff on the radio there that stunned me - and not only preachers, but morning hosts on black-audience stations who in between playing the latest hip-hop music would rant about whitey and imply that genocide wasn’t truly a bad idea - that really made me wonder if whites have any idea about the depth of hatred that is out there.
Yes, there are many good evangelical black preachers. I have watched many over the years. Including some in my own church.
They would NEVER embrace the lunacy of Jeremiah Wright.
The right-wing attack machine, cable news, talk radio, the internet, went crazy on this and they will not stop.
Who didn't see this coming? The thing has Hillary's fingerprints all over it and this clown is blaming the Republicans. That is, of course the default reaction when anything unpleasant happens but it isn't going to help Obama against She Who Must Not Be Named.
