That $7.7bil Calif spends on illegal immigrant education would go a long way toward bridging the current $14bil deficit.

Add in health care, the cost of crime and imprisonment...food stamps and welfare...and you have closed the gap.

It's a MONUMENTAL crime to allow these parasites to stay here.

I agree. There are a multitude of reasons why the public school system is failing but right now one of the biggest is that the illegal invasion is forcing the financial collapse of more and more districts every day. It’s a crisis that can’t be put on the back burner because the huge illegal invasion and its costs are exponential - we’re being swamped!

I get the sense that you’re aware of this crisis more than most of us are, probably because you’re on the front line in CA. I think your ideas are great - especially the one about remittances to Mexico from our illegals. Those billions sent from the USA to Mexico not only prop up Mexico’s corrupt government but encourage Mexico to facilitate exporting their illegals, criminals, drugs, and social degenerates to this country. I also agree with you about the bleak future given the prospective presidential candidates. I have a relative who is an M.D. and he’s seen first hand what’s happening in our hospitals and health care system and sincerely believes that if the trend isn’t soon reversed, we’ll have passed the point of no return.

The genius politicians want to give amnesty to more than 20 million illegals just in time to collect welfare when the economy slides toward recession. I'm sure most Americans won't mind the extra competition in a shrinking job market or the higher taxes they have to pay for their new neighbors.

I know, and it’s very depressing. It seems that we have a government that is run by special interest groups - racial and ethnocentric pressure groups, business lobbies (U.S. Chamber of Commerce, et al.),who love those low wages with no benefits, politicians who are pandering to the illegals for votes, and a political establishment that is oblivious to the facts. To cite only one example: Robert Rector of Heritage in ‘06 announced the results of an exhaustive study that is considered the most comprehensive, scholarly, and objective research into what the the effects of continued illegal immigration would have on the United States twenty years from now. The consequences would be devastating - including the collapse of the entire social and economic infrastructure of the United States. Some politicians like Sen. Jeff Sessions quoted from his report in the Senate. But, on the whole, this and other dire warnings have been deliberately ignored. I’m afraid we’ll get serious only when it’s too late.

They don’t include anchor babies. But several constitutional scholars have written articles contending that the Fourteenth Amendment did not, by original intent, intend to make such as anchor babies citizens. It all has to do with the clause “subject to the jurisdiction thereof.” It would take too much time and space to go into specifics now but if you’d like to know about it, let me know.

Forget Osama bin Laden. The Feds are a bigger danger to my wife and kids.

I see what you mean and I can only guess the there has been some confusion between state and federal expenditures. Upon reviewing the article there seems to be some confusion there as in such phrases as the state and federal governments. I don’t know but thanks for pointing that out.

I wonder when the majority of American citizens are going to get their heads out of the sand and see Mexico as the domestic enemy that it really is....

Thanks for that reference. Now we’re facing not only drunk driving illegals who can’t read signs in English (even when sober) but big Mexican trucks (thanks to NAFTA) on our roads which are so outrageously unsafe they should be called kamakazi trailers. Have you heard about that on Lou Dobbs and elsewhere?

Absolutely! Your post illustrates another important point. We don’t have to “round up” millions for deportation. The illegal flow will decrease from attrition if the job magnets and freebies are cut out.

True! For the next election we’ve got a hat-trick! Three losers on the issue - the bad, the worse, and the worst!

Excellent summary of the problem that you’ve actually observed. In ‘06 Robert Rector of Heritage published a thorough and scholarly paper detailing how the massive illegal invasion - if not curtailed - could within 20 years bring down the whole cultural and economic infrastructure of the nation. By the way, my favorite “sub teacher” for Rush is Roger Hedgecock from your area.

I agree that the figures are grossly understated. The really scary things is that we DON’T EVEN KNOW how many foreign illegals are here. That’s how out-of-control the situation has become.
