A new study shows young adult women are becoming more tolerant of pornography.
The research -- part of a larger study called "Project Ready" -- found that college-aged women could be more accepting of pornography than their fathers. According to the study, 65 percent of men, 48 percent of women, 36 percent of fathers, and 20 percent of mothers agreed that pornography was an acceptable way for someone to express their sexuality.
Pat Trueman of the Alliance Defense Fund says the results are not surprising. "... You've got a generation of people growing up embracing something that is not helpful, [and a society that] is treating women as though they're mere sexual objects," he criticizes.
Trueman also points out that porn gives young men a sense of "entitlement" when it comes to sexual relations in the dating realm. Consequently, he laments, "men don't know how to have a relationship -- [and] the women wanting a relationship seem to adopt the male point-of-view on pornography."
Researchers also found a correlation between the use of porn and participation in other risky behaviors, such as drug use, binge drinking, and promiscuous sexuality.
Soap operas are a close fit.
On initial read, this has the smell of the average “We don’t like X so we found a way to blame all the world’s troubles on it” study. I’ve seen these for video games, gambling, etc., and Richard Dawkins has probably done one on religion too.

(had to be said...)
The last statement seems to be more appropriate as the subject matter of this topic, than the “gender” aspect.
Funded by the porn industry, no doubt. There has to be a link in there somewhere.
Ever read some of the trashy novels that women have been reading for years? Talk about pornography.
Soap operas, Danielle Steele books, yeeks!
At least they are fiction, though. I’m not saying they are right. I don’t read them. I’m just saying that pornography uses real people as sexual objects on film.
In the age of internet, porn is the norm.
We are sodom and Gomorrah during Spring Break and Mardi Gras in certain places of the US...
The continued normalization of perversion. ............. Government approved at the highest level 1992-2000. Maybe even more so after 2008.
A friend of mine was caught looking at Internet porn by his wife. She was very upset, thinking she was without sin. Until the Lord of heaven convicted her regarding the soaps on TV that she consumed. Both recognized neither was without sin, they have reconciled.
Porn - in any form - is cancer.
Ummm, the films are fiction too. The only difference is one is visual, the other is mental. It’s all fantasy and fantasizing about sex. Those books are pretty graphic.

I just did something stupid, looking for a joke picture to post for you I googled images for ‘goat porn’.
I didn’t know that there really is such a thing, what a mess, it has been a while since I have made such a stupid, rookie, internet mistake.
What did you expect after going through pornified schools for 12 years?
Hey! Leave my “flash n trash” books alone! ;-)
And no I won’t tell you my favorite author. :-)
Exactly. Men tend to be more visual in their lusts than women, but titillating the mind is just as unfaithful (if married) as titillating the eyes. We are all called to chastity.
It isn’t just “porn” porn. For some people it can be a magazine ad if it causes you to go down a road you know you shouldn’t...
I refer you back to Seinfeld:
“GLAMOUR???”
“I had a choice to make, either zip up, or run over and catch my mother from falling.”
“What did you do?”
“I zipped up.”
“But..”
“Well I couldn’t go over there the way I was...”
“I guess not.”
I tend to agree with you on that one. I am sure some perv is making the latest “Girls Gone Wild” video from this month’s exploits.
A few days ago, I was looking for the website of "Dick's Sporting Goods" (east coast hunting, fishing, sports megastore) ...
Here's a hint:
It's NOT www DOT dicks DOT com ...
It's www.dickssportinggoods.com ... trust me.
Imagine that. More accepting of depravity than their fathers, just at the time of life when their fathers are thinking about the hole in their wallet and the odds of keeping their daughters out of trouble. All I can say is, it's a good thing they asked college girlsthose models of reflection, experience, mature judgment, independence, and self-restraintto represent "women." Otherwise they wouldn't have gotten nearly the result they wanted, and no grant money next time around. Most grantors in the social sciences want to pay for "leading-edge" results that reinforce their politics, not the mere accumulation of truth.
Just give the gals about 10 years, when they're not hemmed in by the "values" of the Nietzschean college environment, and when they have children to protect and husbands they depend on. The change will make your head spin.
Well come on, include the girls who are more than willing to do anything as perverted little sluts as well...
Oh yeah - it’s amazing what an innocent-seeming Google search will show to the unsuspecting eye.
compared to the throbbing and heaving of the Harlequin Romance Novel?
Aren't they?
I put the phone on mute because I couldn't stop laughing. He was either dead serious or a master of deadpan.

Here you go ;-)
Hehee...
Am I the only one who wondered about the line, “. . . agreed that pornography was an acceptable way for someone to express their sexuality.”
Doesn’t that sound like “Wankers Of The World Agreed that pornography was an acceptable way for someone to express their sexuality.”
Bah! Humbuggery!
Lets hope so.
Three Our Father’s and three Hail Mary’s for that. Go forth, and sin no more.
Sometimes it hits when you least expect it. My mother-in-law had a piano with wooden keys I could not identify. So I used an image search (without a safe-search option) to look at different samples of dark woods from a list (which did not contain pictures). Everything was fine until I searched “ebony wood”. Daaayaam. Google safe-search has made for a much more predictable image searching experience. :)
Well, that’s certainly obscene according to community standards.
I hate porn. It distracts me from embracing True Love. Porn offers a dangerous fantasy, wastes my time, causes me to compare my best friend to a demonic lie.
If women truly understood how weak men become to images, even because of “soft” porn, then women would do better in protecting us men from pornography.
Hey, I just saw one of those on the I-10 to Tucson here in Phoenix. It’s near the Ikea. I’ve never heard of it before but I could tell that I was behind the times, LOL.
This isn’t surprising, since this is the demographic who are MAKING THE PORN!!
Who’s that?
Don't.
Dina Matos McGreevey, AKA Finger Cuffs.
Based on my experience being the only male in an office full of constantly blabbing chicks, I would say that the average sub-35 female attitude toward “mainstream” porn is “eye roll...all guys look at it...just clear the history.’
I came across a tv show last night, flipping through the channels, and not sure which channel but the topic was cyber sex/internet dating, and this woman, college aged with a boyfriend who she was having sex with and also having cyber sex.
Now, I’m a little stupid, don’t see how cyber sex is sex but it was an eye opening show. She sees her boyfriend or the guy she’s dating casually, and they have sex but not daily so she goes online to have easy sex. That’s what I got from the show. And, the report said that this is common today. I found it interesting.
Looks like you were even more correct than you might have imagined...
Project READY is a collaborative effort by scholars at several universities across the nation to better understand the attitudes and behaviors of young people. We appreciate your willingness to participate in this project.
Note: Your parent's survey is only accessible through an e-mail invitation that will be sent once your survey is completed.
Now, now, nothing about “throbbing” in this thread..........
I am against the prevelance of pornography, but realize that’s merely my take on an interest of others who see it much different than I do.
When I think of what drives men to do right, I am often reminded of the assumption of purity. Be it purity on a national level or one of a personal nature, nothing drives men like the assumption of purity.
Is a nation worth defending? Is it’s women and children worthy of the ultimate sacrifice? Where do we come down on these issues?
It is the purity of nation, woman and the inocense of children that drive us to defend our homeland or project our power in foreign lands. For without these, what price is worth paying?
What is liberty without the assumption of national purity or the innocense woman and son or daughter that touches us to the soul?
Show me a society that has devolved to the point that porn is king, and I’ll show you a society where the king is not worth the efforts of good men.
Now, now, nothing about “throbbing” in this thread..........
