Please tell me that this song and dance is not playing in Peoria.

In my first book, Dreams From My Father, I described the experience of my first service at Trinity: People began to shout, to rise from their seats and clap and cry out, a forceful wind carrying the reverends voice up into the rafters..."

Affirmative action in choosing POTUS.
Wow... how far we have come.

If you read the rest of my comments you'll understand that I think the
speech is outstanding. As to the man, we should fear his ability to mesmerize the crowd. I'm not talking about you and me, Im talking about the same sort of people who fell in love with Hitler. That would be SHEEPLE!
They outnumber us and if they can be conned into voting for him, it may well be the end of our nation. PRAY!

I agree. Good speech but it’s effect will be small on the appalled millions.

This speech will go over good with his core supporters. Moderates are not going to buy it this is not going away.

RE:
It was stained by this nation?s original sin of slavery (text from Obamas speechComments like this genuinely offend for another reason. My great-great grandfather went to war to end slavery. If my ancestors never owned slaves and put their lives on the line to end slavery, how exactly does this "original sin" argument apply to me?

"Given my background, my politics, and my professed values and ideals, there will no doubt be those for whom my statements of condemnation are not enough."He's right. Words are just words. They can be spoken at any time. Before OR after the dukie has hit the fan. Actions take time and much more effort and offer a more truer understanding of a man's character.

I still want him to be the nom - we’ll beat him (even if it is McCain that we beat him with) like a red-headed stepchild.

I think Hillary is weaker.
But just wait until she “obamas” McCain. It could be rough.

Nobody plays the unplayed race card better. Or is it vice versa?

"Not once in my conversations with him have I heard him talk about any ethnic group in derogatory terms, or treat whites with whom he interacted with anything but courtesy and respect."
Let's get him to swear to tell the truth before Congress and see how long he stands by that claim.

I better get busy and start feeling the white man guilt.
That, and becoming poor. I wouldn't want anybody thinking that I actually work harder then they do!
