Jewish American Border Officer Suffers Anti-Semitism

(IsraelNN.com) Jewish U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Officer Brian Israel, a border officer on the Canadian-American border is sueing the US Border Patrol after years of anti-Semitic abise.

According to VIN News, "Officer Israel was subjected to anti-Semitic activity almost immediately [upon being hired ten years ago]. He found swastikas and Waffen SS lighting stripes on his locker, and was regularly sent out by his management to clear 'his people' when the 'smelly Jew Bus' (typically vehicles operated by Heiman's Bus Service or other companies from Brooklyn) [arrived]."

The report continues: "Though Israel is a life-long public servant with stints in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Treasury Police and U.S. Federal Air Marshal Service under his belt, and the recipient of various awards, citations, commendations and medals for his military and federal law enforcement service, that didn't stop him from getting fired in July 2007 based on two 2005 incidents—one in which even fellow officers testified that Israel was in the right after being assaulted by a Canadian traveler, and a second, more ominous event in which a violent Algerian national who was a security threat destroyed a border radiation detector by driving his car into it at 70 miles an hour. Both cases led to Israel's dismissal for 'excessive force,' with even the government not denying that a file of the worthy officer's list of blatant anti-Semitic experiences at his comrades' hands does exist."

Officer Israel, a religious Jew and son of Holocaust survivors, says that the only reason he was fired is because he constantly complained against his supervisors for the continuous anti-Semitic remarks. His court case, which has cost him $80,000 in legal fees, will end with a verdict on March 31st, 2008.

It appears any action taken in self-defense by a border patrolmen against criminal aliens is considered “excessive force.” Israel’s lucky he’s not in prison with Ramos and Compean.

I believe him. My experience with border control officers is that they are some of the most anti-Semitic bastards I have ever met.

The Canadians are worse than the U.S. and the French-speaking Canadians are the worst of all.

It may be that his legal bills total $80K, but the case in being done on a contingency basis. In that case, he has had no out of pocket expenses, but if he collects, the attorney gets his legal fees first.

I agree that this seems very telling, and my BS meter is getting a noticable reading. But then again, I don't trust reporters to get the story straight. I think it may be somewhat garbled.

This effectively proves that your theory is wrong. There was a history of complaints. He did not make up the complaints after the fact as you suggest "to save his job". And, BTW, why would you say "I don't believe any of the anti-Semitic stuff?" Do you mean it didn't happen? Couldn't happen? Is there something in the story that suggests fabrication? Are border patrol agents too good to be anti-Semites? Curious to hear your theories.

Why has the MSM in the US not taken up this story, and the first we hear about it is from an Israeli outlet?

I find it hard to believe that the MSM isn't leaping over itself to report antisemitism in the Bush Administration. Could the reason be that the fired officer did a good job in keeping potential Islamic terrorists out of the country, and is therefore considered unworthy of any coverage by the MSM?

From a press release by Andy Ramirez, Friends of Border Patrol, a 501c3 advocacy group for border patrolmen: "In sworn testimony, Anti-Semitic statements and actions were attributed to CBP Supervisors as corroborated by fellow officers, including a National Treasury Employees Union local official. A file exists on those early incidents involving a swastika sticker placed on Officer Israel's locker and other anti-Semitic actions, which goes back to the 1990s as acknowledged by the Champlain Port Director. I'd be remiss not to report that most of Brian's mom's family was killed during the Nazi Holocaust of WW2 as they were in the area that became Poland (after WWI).

I don't know which part of the story you're missing or why you gratuitously call this guy a jerk. You should read the press release for a more detailed account of how this guy's case sounds a lot like Ramos' and Campeon's in terms of the government siding with the bad guys.
