When seeking to extricate himself from the tight spot in which he has been placed by his long association with the spiritual leadership of Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama hauled in his (living) maternal grandmother, Madelyn Dunham. Obama has previously characterized Mrs. Dunham as a "trailblazer of sorts, the first woman vice-president of a local bank." She had a direct hand in his upbringing when Obama chose to live with his maternal grandparents rather than his mother, who was then in Indonesia.

Today Obama brought Mrs. Dunham into his speech for a cameo appearance as a white counterpart to the fulsome Reverend Wright:

" I can no more disown [Jeremiah Wright] than I can my white grandmother – a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe. "

Even amid the false equivalencies and obvious evasions of his speech today, Obama's misuse of his grandmother seems to me a striking sign of poor character.

But in his first book, he describes this incident differently - and we need to get this to HANNITY and all, this is another glaring example of his forked tongue.-

In the book, he describes this incident as his grandmother coming home one day upset.

His grandfather asks what's wrong and she say while she was waiting for the bus, a large man, a panhandler, accosted her asked for "a dollar" - she said he kept getting more insistent and she was frightened - but the bus came just in time - she said she was afraid if the bus hadn't come, the man might have hit her.

Upon asking for a description of the man, she related that he was black.

That makes her a racist on a par with Rev. Bullfrog?

What woman wouldn't be frightened, no matter the color?

The bottom line is that Obama refused to disavow a man whose hatred for whites is so intense that he mocked the missing/almost certainly dead Halloway girl in Aruba. Obama refused to disavow a man who hates America so much that he fabricated a bizarre fairy tale about our country inventing the AIDS virus to kill Africans.
But there is icing on this cake: to defend the hater Wright, Obama consciously destroyed the reputation of the woman who raised and educated him from the age of ten years on. This is an elderly widow, alone in the world and with no means to defend herself from what well may be a false accusation--a stab in the back from a treacherous and ungrateful grandson. Has there ever been anything lower or more vile in American politics? NO decent person could vote for this characterless ingrate.

I notice that in both of the pictures of the grandparents on this thread, they are hugging or otherwise embracing Obama, he is posing for the camera and making sure he looks good. These people obviously love the kid. It looks to me like they raised this kid and loved him very much.
