After a week filled with bad news for the Obama campaign, Hillary Clinton is out to a 56-30 lead in the Pennsylvania Democratic primary.
Clinton is aided in large part by a 46 point margin over Obama with female voters, 66-20. She leads with men as well although by a considerably tighter margin of 45-41.
The big story in the Presidential race over the last week has been the comments of Barack Obamas pastor about America, said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling. It appears this issue has hurt him a good deal with likely primary voters in Pennsylvania.
yes! We are going to get the candidate we can beat. Go Hillary! I don’t want the Democrats to beat you...We should! I hope Hillary gets 80 percent to Obama’s 20 percent before all is said and done! Fellow Pennsylvanians lets get her the nomination! It will be much more exciting to beat her in the general than have Obama do it now. Let’s remember that everything does not need to be instant gratification. We have been waiting eight years for this. What’s a few more months.
Color me skeptical.
Well, I know a LOT of local Republicans who are actually changing their party affiliation to Rat so that they can vote for her in the primary and keep her candidacy alive against Obama.
I am one of them. Just sent the paperwork down to the county courthouse today. I think it has to be received by them by next Tuesday so people have time.
I am thinking about doing that here in Indiana, but since my mom is a precinct committeeman for the county here then there will be hell to pay if I do....
Don’t hold your breath waiting for ho hum McCain to beat any clinton alive, because that is not going to happen.
What you are wishing for is going to send us to a 30 state defeat in November.
Strangely, I know 2 of them who are voting for Obama to do just the opposite. - Kill clinton.
If Republicans want to win they should be voting for Obama in droves. Voting for Clinton will ensure her victory in November.
Thanks, Limbaugh, Hannity, Ingraham, Levine, etc....Looks like eight ...more...LONG....years....Dear God...
I fear you are correct. Too many have swallowed the well positioned lie that McCain can beat Clinton Inc.
As I said on another thread, I hope Rush isn't doing this as an eff you to the RNC for turning their back on talk radio, that is, propping up a once dead candidate to demonstrate talk radio's strength.
If Hillary wins, this country will be screwed for at least 20 years. Who knows what shape it will be in when some catastrophe sways the populace back towards the intent of the Founding Fathers, or if it will even be possible.
I was far more at peace when Clinton Inc. was breathing its last breath.
Do not bet on it. Hillary Clinton is a tougher candidate to beat in the general elections than Obama. Unless you want her to be the President you should hope that she is not the nominee of the democrat party.
I’m in Indiana, and I am going to vote for whichever rat is the underdog.
>>I fear you are correct. Too many have swallowed the well positioned lie that McCain can beat Clinton Inc.<<
You got that right. I don’t know if Hillary will beat McCain, but Obama beats himself. If superdelegates are looking for an excuse to vote for Hillary, how about a landslide victory in PA?
You discount the black vote effect. They are not going to turn out to vote for Hillary if she steals if from Obama.
Voting for Obama in PA is the smarter play, IMO. That’s what I’m doing.
I check and read Mens/Fathers(Pro-Family) sites on a daily bases, and I had found this article... everywhere...
I posted it too..
“’Child support payments can represent half of [low-income] men’s income, and can provide a strong incentive to work in the underground economy.’
“Clintons proposals are a good start, but much more needs to be done to address the problems low-income fathers face.”
My new co-authored column, Hillary Clintons Youth Opportunity Agenda Will Help Low-Income Fathers (Black Press USA Network, 1/25/08), discusses some small but significant proposals from Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to resolve the child support problems faced by many low-income African-American fathers. The proposals are based on the Urban Leagues 2006 report on the state of black America, which concluded that the child support system and its abuses are a major problem for African-American men.
The column, co-authored with Mike McCormick, Executive Director of the American Coalition for Fathers and Children, is below. Clinton’s child support reform proposals are discussed here and here, along with her misguided position in favor of restoring federal child support enforcement budget cuts.
Hillary Clintons Youth Opportunity Agenda Will Help Low-Income Fathers
By Mike McCormick and Glenn Sacks
It is rare for a major politician to propose well-informed measures about fathers and fatherhood during an election campaign. While Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is not normally a beloved figure in the fatherhood movement, her new Youth Opportunity Agenda reflects a commendable understanding of the problems faced by African-American fathers.
The Urban Leagues 2006 report on the state of black America concluded that the child support system and its abuses are a major problem for African-American men. The report found that the system represents a large, hidden tax on the already meager earnings of many black men. This tax drives some out of their childrens lives, and either underground or into crime.
Half of uneducated African American men ages 25-34 are non-custodial fathers. The child support they struggle to pay usually does not go to their children, but instead goes to the state to reimburse the cost of public assistance, including welfare, for the mother and children. This is demoralizing for low-income men struggling to make a difference in their kids lives. Some of these fathers even live with their children and their childrens mothers, yet their wages are still garnisheed to pay child support to the state.
Research shows that allowing the child support to go directly to the custodial parent promotes fathers bonds with their kids. Federal incentive funds mold the states child support policies. Clinton pledges to work with states and counties to ensure that they have support and incentives to pass on every dollar of child support directly to the mens children.
Many minority noncustodial fathers have spent time in prison, often for nonviolent drug offenses. Under the current system, these men rack up thousands of dollars in child support arrearages while they are incarcerated. Interest accrues rapidly, and upon release many ex-offenders struggle under a staggering debt they could never hope to pay off. Some even return to jail for nonpayment.
To address this problem, Clinton says she will encourage states to take more realistic, cooperative approaches to managing arrears, so that fathers leaving prison are not immediately saddled with unrealistic payment obligations.
Clinton also recognizes that many states child support guidelines are excessive, noting:
Child support payments can represent half of [low-income] men’s income, and can provide a strong incentive to work in the underground economy.
According to the Urban League, low-income men in arrears on child support sometimes keep as little as a third of their paychecks.
Clintons proposals are a good start, but much more needs to be done to address the problems low-income fathers face. Economist Harry Holzer, a co-author of the Urban League report, recommends forgiving the arrearages that low-income fathers owe to the government. While this proposal may not be politically popular, it makes very good policy.
Low-income fathers arrearages mount in large part because the child support system is impervious to the economic realities low-income fathers face, such as layoffs, wage cuts, chronic unemployment, and work-related injuries. Low-income fathers have very little access to affordable legal help, and an unemployed construction worker usually doesnt have the money to get professional legal assistance to help him get a child support modification. According to an Urban Institute study, less than one in 20 non-custodial parents who suffer substantial income drops are able to get courts to reduce their child support payments.
Californias Compromise of Arrears Program provides an example of the type of pragmatic approach these men need. According to a California Judicial Council report, 80% of California child support debtors earn poverty level wages, and over a quarter of the arrears total is interest. Under COAP, these obligors can settle their paper debts to the state for realistic amounts.
Sacramento legislative advocate Michael Robinson of the California Alliance for Families and Children, which worked on the legislation, explains:
Rather than engaging in the well crack down on deadbeats chest-thumping so often employed by politicians, COAP is a common sense, everybody wins solution. Instead of hounding and jailing low income dads, the COAP program allows these dads to provide their children real support, both emotional and financial.
The federal government should use its incentive funds to influence states to institute similar and more extensive programs. The costs of current policies far outweigh the value of the child support collected. Allowing more low-income men to be functional fathers benefits them, their children, and their childrens mothers.
Elections usually are a bad time for family policy, as applause lines about punishing deadbeat dads are often substituted for rational, informed thinking about fathers and fatherhood. Several candidates have been bashing so-called “deadbeat dads,” including Barack Obama, John Edwards, and Bill Richardson. Clintons proposals are a modest but tangible step forward in addressing the weighty issues low-income dads face.

number #1 site for Men had it too...
It’s having a postive effects...with alot of father supporters of ALL colors...and families...who support father rights...
It is interesting how many people have supported Obama and didn’t know a thing about him. Now we are supposed to believe they are going to support Clinton because they now know who his preacher was?
I just don’t buy it. These primary polls are more worthless than the general election polls.
If Hillary gets the nomination, blacks won't blame her, they'll blame Rush and the Republicans.
As Hillary said, be careful what you wish for.
Question is will Rendell commit the usual vote fraud in the black neighborhoods in favor of Hillary
After witnessing the media love fest with “Profile in Courage” Obama I’m happy to see the American public has better sense. Obama isn’t going to get a pass for attending a hate monger’s “church” for 20 years.
I disagree. Obama has the black vote wrapped up, and if Hillary steals the nomination at the convention, then I can’t see them turning out for her, while McCain will similarly rake in those Democrats who just can’t stand her. She’s the weaker overall candidate I think, based upon how she has managed her campaign and performed thus far.
I don’t get a vote because I live in Australia but I think it would be extremely foolish to take the slightest risk of Osama Obama getting anywhere near the White House. Who knows what might happen between now and November if he did get the nomination, not to mention all the racist sludge he’s sure to stir up.
Get rid of him NOW.
Go Hill Go! I’ve been cruising the “Black-American” sites and let me tell you its ugly. If she gets the nomination at this point, they WILL NOT be voting for her. In fact, if what I’ve read is generally indicative, they should probably double her Secret Service detail right now.
Haw! She goes into the convention behind in delegates or tied and comes out the unelectable Democratic nominee. The black vote makes up what, 20% ?, of the Dim voting block? In elections that alway pivot on a less that 3% split, that will be enormous.
Dead on. Right now Clinton would be a far more formidable candidate than Obama. McCain would fare far better against a less experienced foe with severe racial issues.
Hillary and her minions have successfully marginalized Obama through the media’s emphasis on the comments of their pastor, Jeremiah Wright, who is as crazy as the “God Hates Fags” minister from Kansas. In effect, Obama has been converted in the eyes of many voters into Al Sharpton with better tailoring and an absence of Ebonics. Wright’s anti-Semitic remarks could have easily come from David Duke. The Obamas attended this church for 20 years, and it is disingenuous to believe they were unaware of their pastor’s leftist, anti-white, and anti-Semitic beliefs. To feel sorry for Barack Obama, you would also have to hold similar sentiments for Mitt Romney and Ron Paul, who had to pay a political price for statements made by them or under their signature (in the case of Paul). Furthermore, Obama epitomized the cliche of a politician selling out his grandmother if he could win votes in denouncing the woman who cared for him, a mixed race youth, for years as a racist. None of the other politicians, not even Hillary, stooped so low.
Even with a landslide for Hillary in upcoming primaries, Obama will have more delegates in Denver. It is going to HAVE to be given to Hillary by the super delegates in contravention of the popular vote. The blame will sit squarely on the DNC.
But that won't stop her. We need to "keep (Billary's) hope alive".
70% in PA would be good!
Well, that’s assuming that ALL women will vote for Hillary.
I agree. We need do what we can to hasten Hillary's demise and not even let her into the general.
Either way, we're screwed.
Bad news.
You are crazy. If Obama wins he is fatally wounded already, and Hillary will do everything possible to help McCain win.
What's the process in PA? Is it past the registration date?
Look for Clinton to soothe the hard feelings by picking a black VP such as Ford in Tennessee. The Clintons will also deceive them into believing that Obama’s failed campaign is due to the “right wing conspiracy” who will not tolerate a black man as President. Most will swallow the bait hook line and sinker.
I have no idea; I don't live there. I was speaking in general - we need to do whatever we can to keep that Beast out of the general.
She scares me.
So we want to win an easy race? I like the fact of a challenge and winning against Hillary would be so exciting for the conservatives. I normally don’t take the easy way out in life which has worked well for me so far. It just makes you appreciate things that work out so much better. Trust me I know and have seen this work!
In Philadelphia, Obama leads with 136% with only 112% for Clinton.
I am glad that we finally agreed on this. Rooting for Hillary Clinton to become the democrat nominee is absolute insanity.
I don't know what kind of keyboard you have in Australia, but if you want to use HTML code for italics, bold, underline, and the like, we use these guys < >, not these [ ].
:)
15% is 5% more than usual, and enough to swing an election.
The Clintons wouldn't let Teddy drive them across a bridge?
They are both beatable.
Hillary would never have gotten the white male vote.
Obama has just pissed his chances away.
Nobody can win the presidency without the white male vote.
McCain is the luckiest man in America. He’ll win in spite of himself.
You know, much to my surprise, I’ve been watching McLettuce on his travels last few days and I’m kinda accepting of his CINC-ness.
Graaaack! Did I just say that?
And the Jewish and Latino votes will dry up if Hussein is the nominee.
Identity politics is a dangerous thing. The chickens are indeed coming home to roost. In Denver this summer.
Get the popcorn and your beverage of choice ready.
Watch the fur fly.
They’ll be stopping every 15 minutes to carry out the wounded and dead.
