JC Watts!

A solid conservative, who'll help take the race issue off the table.

The race issue will never be taken off the table if the person is a Republican. The line for this election from the Drive Bys would be that the Republicans are saying "Hey, look, we also have a black candidate. We're hip, too." We'll never win any credit on the race issue. W's cabinet is the most racially diverse in history, and it got him zero credit (though it got us some poor choices running things).

Those realities being said, I could go for JC Watts as VP because he seems like the best of the group listed (most of whom are sorry, sorry choices). He's articulate, solidly conservative, and well liked by Republicans. He's even a preacher, so maybe that would permanently take eyes off of the liberal Huckabee for those who swooned over him for that reason. He'd go further than any of the others towards possibly re-energizing Republican voters. The fact that he's black has nothing to do with why he would be McCain's best choice. I also think having a Republican who hasn't been in the race or public eye too recently would probably lead to lower negatives for him than most of the others who have been beating up on each other.

Yes, Perry endorsed Giuliani early on, in my opinion so he could be G’s VP - they were tied at the hip down to G’s law firm doing mega work for Perry’s proposed highway system.

Are you kidding? I suspect the #2 spot was the reason he ran in the first place! Romney’s been falling all over McCain ever since he (Romney) exited and he’s been like a little puppy all wagging and drooling with good natured enthusiasm. He is definitely young enough to run for President later.”

Romney can’t get elected in Mass anymore and his only path to the POTUS is as VPOTUS, and he is very articulate.

McCain/Romney has a flavor of Reagan/Bush ‘84, even if McCain is not the true Reaganite, he’ll get a good indie demographic.

It doesn’t matter. McCain will never win the presidency. He is such a loser. Whoever gets the dem nomination will be the next president.

Ditto. And may it be Hillary, who will never be able to govern, having to fight both the united Republican Party, and the moonbats who have been pining for Barry O.

We can bork her nominees, and regain a true conservative leadership, that is the only possible salvation of the Republican Party. Otherwise, you may as well ask President McCain to support the Schwartzenegger Amendment, that's who will be perfect for our next Pubbie candidate the way things have been trending...

This is like asking what kind of toppings you want on a BS sandwich.

And I’m amazed at how many want more BS on top of their BS.

Are you even old enough to vote? ;)

Actually, I see by your about me page that you are; I guess I am just getting really, really, REALLY old...

I watched Barney with my son, who is just barely old enough to get a driver’s license. Time flies.

I looked it up and Barney premiered in 1992, yikes.

I have fonder memories of Mister Rogers.

So do I. I watched him as a kid, and again as an adult, with my children. I understand from my local talk radio station, KTOK AM 1000, that today is his birthday, and they are asking everyone “be a good neighbor” and wear a sweater in his honor.
