HICKORY, N.C. - Police say two suspects are dead after an attempted home invasion.
Catawba County sheriffs deputies say two men dressed in black and carrying pistols forced their way into a home on 33rd Avenue in Hickory around 11:00 last night. According to a sheriffs official, the homeowner was armed with his own gun, and shot the suspects. Both suspects were pronounced dead at the scene. Major Coy Reid with the sheriffs office said both men were wearing masks and latex gloves.
At this time, no arrests have been made.

“At this time, no arrests have been made.”
Why should there be? The perps are dead and the homeowner was defending himself.

Hmm...armed, dressed in black, masks, and latex gloves. I'm sure there's a perfectly innocent explanation...
Nice shooting.

You’ve got to be pretty desperate to do a burglary in this country while the occupants are still at home.

Thank goodness the homeowner was armed and shot them first, before he, and his family were shot.

Two criminals and two guns off the street, permanently.
Not bad for a few seconds work.
DC still wants to leave homeowners unarmed. What is wrong with this picture?
To: swmobuffalo
“Why should there be?”
There might have been accomplices, such as a getaway driver.
To: dynachrome
At this time, no arrests have been made. And there shouldn't be unless they find those two weren't alone.

I'm sure there's a perfectly innocent explanation...The guys were probably there for a painting job. The mask was to keep out the fumes, the gloves were to keep the paint off their hands. The room was probably going to be painted black, so they wore black clothes to hide any splatters. And it must have been one of those surprise charitable makeover shows, which would explain why the homeowner didn't know about it.

I’m remembering the doctor’s wife and two daughters who were killed in CT, I think. He was severely beaten and their home set afire. One of the perps said he got an adrenalin rush from entering homes while the families were asleep in their beds.
Problem was that the doctor had fallen asleep on a sofa downstairs while reading some reports. He awakened, confronted them, and the horrible chain of events followed.
They were caught, but his family was destroyed.

The article states the bad guys were armed, so it sounds like they might have been surprised. It was two against one

The house is a rental, and neighbors tell us they suspect illegal activity has been going on at the home. Read the follow up. There may be more to this story.

If there are more follow ups, I'd appreciate it if someone would post the update links when they occur. Be interesting to see where this goes.

WELL wait wait wait....
why didn’t the feller just call the cops....n see thats the signal for the patrolmen to come on over on the real quick; meanwhile the bad guys just lounge around until the law shows up....subsequently heckle and jeckle throw down their pistolas, apologize profusley to the homeowner and saunter off meek as Moses to hoogow with the lawmen....
good lord folks ain’t that just why the taxpayers pay for police departments...?
onliest thing is... i hear it hardly never seems to go down like that
so....

Cops almost always arrest someone when there’s a shooting and dead bodies. It’s a potential crime scene. Don;t get me started, I learned a bit more about how the law sucks against people just defending themselves.

A friends son was murdered this past week. He was only 22. Quiet and kind. Not into drugs, drinking or partying. He was working hard to make something of himself. The report so far says it was a very brutal murder. He was in his apartment. He did not own a firearm. Maybe he would have survived. I am angry and so sad for my friend. I wish I could take his pain away. So sad. They have not caught the perp yet. I am afraid it is going to be heart breaking to hear how brutally he was killed. I am sick. Long live the 2nd amendment. It was the only thing that maybe could have saved him.

To separate from a company provided weapon that a security guard might have in his posession, perhaps?
