They entire Dem party backs one or the other. I think you are thinking of a Dem party of years gone by.

When the British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan dumped some of his closest Cabinet colleagues to extricate himself from a political crisis, the Liberal leader Jeremy Thorpe responded: "Greater love hath no man than to lay down his friends for his life." In Philadelphia, Sen. Obama topped that: Greater love hath no man than to lay down his grandma for his life.

Re: Test scores.

I can tell you the exact reason why test scores are so low. Black students are afraid to look “too smart” because you’re going to be accused of “acting white” so they dumb themselves down. It’s amazing that some VERY smart blacks in this country have made it through despite that stupid self-defeating attitude that keeps many black people poor, ignorant and violent.

I’ve lived in black schools. I’ve faced the self-imposed stereotypes that were supposed to be placed on me. I do agree with you, it’s time to start cutting back the money and try to encourage a majority of people to start educating themselves and get themselves out of their hellholes they’ve made for themselves with their self-imposed intellectual and behavioral crippling.

Out of wedlock births at 68% and failing urban schools have something to do with lower test scores as well.

You can understand why Obama is so anxious to meet with President Ahmadinejad, a man who denies the last Holocaust even as he plans the next one. Such a summit would be easy listening after the more robust sermons of Jeremiah Wright.

Classic Steyn. That's gonna leave a mark.

Steyn as usual makes a very powerful point. If his grandmother is a typical white person, then she embodies the best of white people. Tolerant, caring, loving.

So my question to Obama is this: Is Jeremiah Wright a typical black person?

He was NEVER a “post-racial” candidate, that was another MSM manufactured phrase that means nothing.

No black man who chooses to be a member of the UnAmerican Democrat Party could be anything but a racist poverty pimp.

I've read that the Obama campaign diligently keeps the media away from Granny Dunham. His Kenyan grandmother, however, is accessible and gives interviews which, although translated from the local Luo dialect, seem free of racial bias.

I had assumed that they were simply protecting Granny Dunham's privacy but maybe it is more sinister than that. Is it possible that she is “a typical white person” and will spout racist invective if exposed to the MSM? Maybe she believes that black people cause the plague, are responsible for earthquakes, and want to bring the New Black Panthers to power.

One of BHO’s theses is that Wright is just a crazy uncle and he can’t disown his uncle. Maybe you ought not disown him, but you don’t keep going back to your CRAZY uncle for advice and counsel. That’s irresponsible.

And if your CRAZY uncle is a danger to the community, you try to protect the community more than your CRAZY uncle. This crazy uncle has been dangerously influencing the black community in Chicago to hate whites and their own government for decades. Obama apparently has never made a single attempt to protect all those vulnerable children in Wright’s church from the messages of hate and anger. Not even one time.

That is proof positive that Obama is not qualified to be President. It’s not even a close call.

I wonder just how “typical” he might be. Scary to think about it...

I keep hearing that Pastor Wright’s attitude is understandable considering 350 years of oppression.

But he doesn’t look a day over 70.

“Turning MLK upside down nails it.”

MLK was also a scam, but if he made people feel good, I guess it is ok and he gets a pass.
The sad thing is that many blacks seem to be in reverse now.

I wish I could be as optimistic as many on here. Obama toast? Not so folks. They make excuse after excuse for him . The bulk of this nation is now a heard of idiots , self hating and uneducated . An even worse generation is now in school . If Obama came right out and said I hate white people he’d still get half the white vote and the MSM would still excuse him.Don’t doubt this anti-American , racist pig can wind up a POS.

If Reverend Wright is correct that the US Government invented the AIDS virus to destroy the black man (Steyn makes the marvelous point that AIDS is entirely useless against moral people), it has been known for centuries that disease as a weapon is moderately effective at best.

The US released penicillin resistant gonorrhea in Viet Nam, and look what that did. In the forties, they released tularemia (rabbit fever) to control the rabbit population. Now you have to be extremely careful with handling wild rabbits after you shoot them to avoid getting tularemia, and they're as plentiful as ever.

Even if he's correct, the Wright Reverend has driven home, once again, that government programs fail, or succeed poorly, no matter what the purpose. I'm sure Senators Obama and Clinton would agree with me on that obvious point. /sarc

The ironic thing is that most if not all of the money and sex education is funneled to urban schools in most states, but they have the lowest test scores and the highest teen pregnancy rates.

He is toast.

Yes, but only if the superdelegates think they can spin the blame for the riots on Bush and not Ms. Clinton.

“many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed.”

No - not much to argue with when you stick to the Bible and not Das Kapital.
